I wanted to get a chair upholstered for an art piece with cloth I had woven. A friend recommended Jorge's. I have never gotten anything upholstered before, and when I first called Jorge's a man named Al answered. I am so glad he did. He could obviously tell I had no previous experience with this sort of thing, and when I told him I was a student at the Art Institute of Chicago and was doing this for an upcoming show, he told me not to spend ANY money until coming in to speak to him and that we could work something out. He was extremely nice and helpful. After I had finished the weaving, I went in and within 20 minutes I not only got an AMAZING deal but also a beautiful chair. I told Al what I had in mind for the chair and that I needed it in about a week and a half. He told me to check in on Monday on the progress of the chair. (I dropped off the cloth on Weds). When I called on monday I was amazed and so surprised to find out that the chair was finished. I went in on Tuesday and it was the most beautiful thing I had ever seen! I could not believe how great it turned out! And Al gave me a ride home with my chair since I didn't have a car. Jorge's made my dream into a reality and if I had gone ANYWHERE else I would have never been able to afford the job they did for me. It looked PERFECT and you could tell they put so much love into it. My experience at Jorge's was so lovely and I hope to work with Al and the other craftsmen there again some day soon. Fantastic work and a pleasure to work with! I went into Fishman's to purchase fabric, with a recommendation for another upholsterer from friends. I happened to talk with Greg Fishman who helped me select my fabric and he inquired if I was open to another upholsterer. I indeed was open to options. Upon sending a picture of my chairs via text to Al at Jorge's, I had a quote within minutes with Greg's help. Alex came to pick up my chairs on the Sunday following Thanksgiving and I received the new chairs from Al (Alex's son) in 3 weeks, in advance of the requested date. My request was to have them done before Christmas. It was noted that the quote provided was less than what they would have provided, due to the tufting and detail required on the chairs. They honored what was presented to me by Greg without question. I'm extremely happy with the end product. The chairs were my Grandmother's and they produced a beautiful, modernized version that I'm so happy to have in my home. I should also note that Alex recommended that I put new foam in the seat cushion to extend the life and value of the chairs. They are perfect! This family team has a ton of talent and are a true pleasure to work with! Al, Alex and Greg have a really nice partnership. We found a pair of Danish Mid-Century modern chairs at a garage sale. Both were in great shape other than finish that was worn in some places, missing seat webbing and out-dated seat cushions. We bought beautiful fabric at JoAnn's and brought the roll and the chairs to Jorge's to re-upholster. I mentioned that I was going to refinish the chairs myself, and he said his team could do it. The seat cushions turned out fantastic! The piping is pristine. They put seat webbing in the chair openings and covered it with squares of the new fabric. They're gorgeous and the price was very fair. The wood refinishing turned out okay, but not great. It was very inexpensive, so I guess we got what we paid for. The color is beautiful, they did a great job in matching the original, but there are some stain splotches on the back as if too much stain was used and not wiped away. It seems like only sections were stripped rather than stripping the entire chair and staining from new. Overall, the wood looks great, I only noticed the left over stain splotches when I looked closer upon getting the chairs home. Overall, Jorge's is THE place in Chicago to go for your upholstery needs. They are friendly, fast, offer great prices and his team of upholsterers are super talented. read more

Needing a motorcycle seat reupholstered, I researched local shops. Since my project didn't require much fabrication, I didn't focus only on motorcycle-specific businesses, and my search brought me to Jorge's. Al suggested I have Pancho work on my seat, as he works on these types of projects in his spare time. Pancho assured me he could do the work I requested after showing him several photos, and I was to return when I had my seat covering material. I returned several days later and Pancho was wearing a Triumph Motorcycles shirt - the brand of my bike - an awesome coincidence. I needed the seat in one week for an event, and I was told that it would be no problem. I left the shop around 3:45. Flash forward to 7pm --- less than four hours later - Pancho sends me a text saying that the seat is done and that he'll deliver it! Mind was blown. The seat looks amazing and Pancho shared with me that car and motorcycle upholstery is his passion, and it shows in his work. In the end I received a fantastic product, a very reasonable rate, and an absolutely unreal turnaround time for a custom job. If I ever need more work done I'll return, and I've already recommended Jorge's (and Pancho) to several friends. read more

I LOVE JORGE'S Before finding this wonderful company I had approached two other places. The customer service was unsatisfactory to say the least. I found Jorge's from these reviews (PRAISE THE LORD!) and had a wonderful experience. The initial contact, quality of workmanship, price and delivery were all 5-star! I had new slipcovers made for 6 dining chairs, 2 lounge chairs and a very complicated sofa bed with zippers and velcro. All were done wonderfully! The gentleman who sewed them even came with the delivery to steam the cover on one of the chairs. I was very particular since the fabric was expensive and they were fully cooperative if I made a request for an adjustment. I would HIGHLY recommend this company if you care about your furniture and/or have high standards. Mine was expensive Italian furniture and it is now refreshed and gorgeous! I recently went back with another project and worked with just Alex this time. He seems to have streamlined the process as everything moved even smoother than before. I called and told me to send him a photograph which I did. I went about my day and did not notice he had sent a text about 10 minutes after I sent him the picture. I called and in within 5 minutes we had agreed on a price, pickup date and a completion time. I went over to Fishmans on his recommendation found something I liked and left it there for him to pickup. (I guess he has a space somewhere for his clients material). I called him the following Monday and he picked picked up the chair, was efficient and cordial and exactly 1 week later be brought it back. Blew my mind. I had two, 20-year old Stickley loveseats that needed reupholstering before moving to central IL. I asked for an on-line estimate, and received it early the next day. It was surprisingly reasonable. We were helped with fabric selection, and scheduled for a pick-up, upholstery and furniture return two weeks later. They were able to take apart the furniture, leaving me with the wood frames to "recondition". But then ... Jorge's delivered within THREE days! I was astonished, delighted and extremely pleased with the timing and results. The estimate was honored, our furniture looks terrific, and I hardly had time to recondition the wood frames before the seats, backs and cushions were returned and put back together. Been going here for about 3 or 4 years, and have had my sofa and a couple chairs taken to be fixed (partly in thanks to my dog Ralphy and 2 young boys), and I can say with great certainty, this is the best work I have ever seen done. It's all worked on by professionals who know what they're doing, and the business is very honest and straightforward, with very reasonable prices. I've looked at other upholsters in the past, and I would easily recommend this one over them all. They have fixed quite a few rips and broken chairs, and they all look just as good, if not better than when I had purchased them. They made some great deals when the opportunity came, and I can't thank them enough. Credit where credit is due, I would HIGHLY recommend Jorge's Upholstery. I purchased an expensive bedding set in April and was very disappointed when the woven seams started to come undone on one of the pillows. I had never used an upholsterer before, but I found Jorge's on Yelp and was lured in by the great reviews. It absolutely lived up to it's star rating. I walked in, he gave me a very reasonable price, even complimented my choice of pillow and told me to come back in just a few hours. I came back the same day to get it, and he informed me that it was more work than they thought since they had to redo the entire seam instead of just the part that was damaged. Assuming I would have to pay extra, I asked how much I owed and he still only charged me the original agreement price. We had our headboard re-upholstered as it was stained and no amount of cleaning worked. We sent them a photo and they quoted us a reasonable price over the phone. They referred us to a wholesale material supplier , Fishman Fabrics, who could not do enough for us when we told them who had sent us. They arranged to collect our headboard and arrived punctually at the time given. They told us that the job would take a few days and called us 2 days later to arrange to deliver and install the headboard. We were extremely happy with the job they did. Had a slight delay with getting the fabric I wanted, but Alex was great in reassuring me that they could wait for the material I wanted, which I appreciate. The price was reasonable especially compared to the price of a new loveseat or sectional. Within 3 business days Al & 2 craftsmen were at my home to do the job. Quality, price, speed--a friend of mine said you are lucky to get two out of three... but I got three out of three with Upholstery by Jorge's! When Al stopped by to give an estimate, I told him I was more concerned with quality than speed. He told me he would deliver on both. Price was quite reasonable, work was well done and Al and his son personally delivered the furniture pieces within a few days. Highly recommended! Al returned my Tuesday call within minutes and shortly after receiving the dimensions of my very large sectional cushion, he provided a fair estimate. He picked up the old cushion the next day (Weds) and delivered the new cushion on Friday morning so that I'd be set for the weekend. His guidance with firmness level was perfect. After a sore back for 2 years, I finally feel like myself again. What a difference! I also recommend replacing a cushion when it's just becoming saggy. It's well with it. Live near the area. Brought in my arm rests from my car. Apparently they don't work on vehicle Upholstery but Alex asked me to leave them and they would see what they could do. I left them Saturday and they called me Monday telling me they were done. In credible. I was extremely impressed the way they looked now compared to the old ripped arm rests they were before. Beautiful perfection from the inside out! That's the only way I can describe the craftsmanship of their work. Jorge's reupholstered a 25-year-old chair and matching ottoman which had seen their day.
