Apart from the weathe being fantastic the day was made beautiful by the staff at Top Meadows. The day went 100% to plan and was so chep compared to other places we had viewed. The man who ran it had so much time for us and made sure we had everything we needed to make the day go swimmingly. The food was magnificent and everybody commented on how lovely it was. The views were fantastic and we got some great photographs because the views here are so beatiful. It is definately a great place to have your wedding.

On arrival I wasn't really too impressed with the cramped seating arrangement around our table, or the close proximity of the other tables, but it was my mothers 80th birthday and we all wanted her to enjoy her night as she had been looking forward to this for many months. Well, with everyone at their place It soon became obvious that my initial worries were only half right. There was barely enough room to squeeze through between tables and at one point it looked like the only place for my 7 month old grand daughter to sleep in her push chair, was going to be outside with the gnats. The serving staff did their best to work in the overbooked floor space, and as the evening progressed they seemed to suffer the brunt of most of the complaints. We sat for 70, yes, SEVENTY minutes, waiting for our first course. The soup that I had ordered some four months earlier was reasonable. Another HOUR passed before the main course arrived, among the confusion of who ordered what, and passing plates around the table I had eaten my duck before a side dish of vegetables arrived. I had really lost interest by the time the option to choose from the sweet trolly came, and I just chose and ate for the sake of it. My Mother put a brave face on the whole night, but I know how she was feeling inside. A member from our party joined a queue to have a say with the manager, and at the end of the settlement, he waived the 10% service charge and gave us some free wine. But I doubt that made my mum feel a whole lot better. The food was ok, the staff tried their best. But it kind of felt to me like I was just another bum on a seat, crammed into a greedy restaurant where profit comes a long way before quality of service. And finally, I have issues of a professional nature. It was obvious to me that the health and safety concerns of the general public were not being taken very seriously. Too many tables too many chairs, not enough access to fire escapes is only the beginning. 15/8/11 .. As an update, Top meadow has been in contact with my mother, offering her some more free wine if she books another table in the restaurant . They lay blame for the evenings events on staff shortage in the kitchen. This to me is just further insult. Firstly a few cheap bottles of house wine is of very little interest to my parents, both in their 80s and non drinkers. And this only if they spend more money. Secondly, this had very little to do with staff shortages and everything to do with overbooking. My mother booked her birthday party back in March. It was ruined by greedy management, not kitchen staff.

Me and my partner visited Topgolf Chigwell hoping for a quick game of golf and breakfast. The only…read moretruly positive part of this experience was Aaron (a tall, young staff member), who showed genuine professionalism, care and integrity throughout. Aaron took our order straight away and made us feel welcome. Unfortunately, after 45 minutes, our breakfast never arrived. What stood out was that we didn't even need to chase him. He approached us himself, apologised sincerely and explained that he had been trying to chase up the order with his team. This showed real responsibility and maturity. Aaron did not fail us - his team and management failed him. When we asked for a refund receipt, the manager avoided eye contact and did not speak to us directly, which felt unprofessional and uncomfortable. There was no leadership presence or accountability from management. We observed several team members displaying poor attitude, lack of urgency and unprofessional behaviour. There was a serious lack of leadership on the floor. A good manager should support both guests and their staff - and in this case, Aaron was left to carry the situation alone. Aaron showed more leadership, integrity and emotional intelligence than the rest of the team combined. He should be recognised, supported, and valued - not left to fix problems created by others. This venue seriously needs to review staff attitudes and management standards. If people are unhappy in their roles, it reflects in their behaviour. Customers can feel that energy. Aaron is the standard - not the exception.

Golf clubs are notoriously up themselves, expensive, and busy. This is certainly not a course for…read morebeginners as it is enormous with 375 yard lay-outs on average. Add in some difficult shots over ditches, sand pits, and small ravines and you have a serious course. However, we had the *best* time getting our balls in 12-13 shots among the 1-2-shot pros... The staff here are amazingly helpful and friendly. We called an hour or so before we wanted a slot and the woman at the front desk instantly set us up with a tee-off time even though they were pretty busy and it was last minute. She said people normally let them know well in advance of renting golf clubs as well, but she was incredibly accommodating. Our whole 3.5 hour experience here cost around 20 quid each, including renting half set of golf clubs each. An amazing deal for a golf course with really experienced members. Literally, Tiger Woods has nothing on a couple people we saw. Incredible. Several groups asked very politely to skip ahead of us which was fine as they all did it in like a shot and it took a few minutes wait. I know we slowed some people down but Cheshunt is very good with beginners and the members seem patient, all things considered. I bet they just wanted to finish up and head to the bar...yes, there is a bar. The bar does not have a large selection but it does large portions of chips and cold beer which we treated ourselves to after. Your hands will be slightly bruised from the club, your shoulders will hurt from carrying the bag, and you will be in awe of how much better everyone is but it will be so worth it! I will be coming back!

The food on offer is excellent but can be a little hit and miss depending on what is ordered. Drinks at the bar are fair prices and the cutlery is always clean, although it is a help yourself area which means you risk other people having touched it before you.. A large array of condiments are available and pick your own from the sachets near the cutlery Overall good value for money and ok for a quick snack. Also has a great outdoor area which looks out onto the golf course, and they allow dogs as long as you go around the back of the building to the outdoor seating area and not through the club. At doors go to the left and it will take you all the way around to the back of the clubhouse

At…read morea time of the year when social lives revolve around festive drinks and parties, it's good to get off your bum and do something active. Well, ok, you're hitting a ball at a screen so not walking too far, but at least you're standing up and moving your arms... However, it's not easy. I've not played golf much and this activity requires some level of technique above 'aim and hit'. For a start, you have real clubs so you have to know what the benefit of each number is. Secondly, if you're not very good like me, then your ball will either go into a lake, a sandpit or nothing at all and you will get more shots. This means the embarrassment lasts longer as you take more and more shots to achieve the same distance that your better playing friend hit in one. I also liked the central location as it's inside High Street Kensington Tube station. There's a full bar inside so you can drink while you play, hoping it might relax you into being a better player. Low marks come from the fact that it's more expensive than bowling (£50 per simulator per hour at weekends). For that price, I'd rather bowl as you can get away with throwing hard and a bit of luck, whereas Urban Golf is more technical.

The interface of the simulator is confusing at first but when you realise how it works is easy. Before that I don't even know "the rules" or how to hit the ball properly (well, I still don't know), it was my very first time playing golf (realistic golf, I mean) and it was way too hard, so I think it should be a really good simulator.
