If you're unsure about pursuing Upper Cervical care, I promise you won't regret it! I had been to several specialists and optometrists who could never do anything but explain my symptoms, offer rx or coping mechanisms. One unhelpful diagnosis I received was fibromyalgia. My migraines and strange vision issues worsened so much that I became uncomfortable driving at age 35. I would see tiny white flashing lights and had imprints in my vision. The optometrist had no clue. Out of sheer desperation, I turned to google. "Fibromyalgia Vision Problems." This led me down a rabbit hole of upper cervical chiropractic care, which I had never heard of. The articles I read boasted tremendous results. "100% of fibromyalgia patients had relief of symptoms through upper cervical chiropractic!" My past experience with chiropractic was brutally painful and often made my symptoms worse. I hated having my neck "cracked." I researched upper cervical chiro and I found Dr. Blöm was located about 4 hours from me. I called and, unlike all other healthcare providers, they scheduled me right away. I've been to some chiropractors who did some strange things. No weird mystical stuff; Dr. Blöm took xrays. My husband works in radiology and said he was impressed with the x-ray machine Dr. Blöm uses. It's much more advanced than what hospitals topically use. Dr. Blöm knew immediately that I was having ocular migraines-- something no other specialist was able to pinpoint! The xrays revealed my neck curved the wrong way, and secondly I had a rotation that shouldn't have been there. (I had a surfing accident as a teen.) Dr. Blöm said, "This is a tricky case, but I think I can help you." Those words still ring in my ears. No doctor has ever said that to me before! I received my first adjustment-- which didn't hurt. None of my adjustments ever hurt in the slightest! Sometimes I would have pain or headaches afterward, but the adjustment was always pain free. It's so gentle you may be tempted to think it's not working, but it is. Trust the process! I immediately noticed slight improvements, but they became more noticeable as time went on. After about 4 months I had almost no visual symptoms! My migraines, which had been daily, completely disappeared!!!! This is truly life-changing. I've had two migraines in the last three months, and I am simply astonished at my improvement! I just graduated to seeing Dr. Blöm every 3 weeks! I originally went in for my vision problems, but my debilitating migraines went away, too! And not just that!! My chronic neck/shoulder pain/spasms (of 22 yrs)--gone! My overall health has significantly improved!! My husband noticed after the first couple weeks and was convinced I needed to stay the course with the treatment plan. I honestly didn't expect it to work that well, but any little improvement seemed worth it. I've been to so many specialists over the years with no help. I feel happier, less anxious, more resilient physically and mentally. And the price is a pittance. He charges for a year of treatment what one CT costs-- and I've had many over the years. My biggest expense is the time and travel, but it is well worth it!! We traveled weekly for months, through snowy mountain passes, because the results were undeniable. I was staring down the barrel of imminent neck surgery with two major issues, and now I'm experiencing pain-free life!!! I cannot help but praise God for the wisdom and expertise of Dr. Blöm. I had been in a car accident in July 2018, and got major whiplash, etc. and the pain never calmed down. I had also already constantly suffered with major neck discomfort (pain, locking up, etc.) after it got a bad kink in October 2014, never able to get relief. I had heard about similar treatments to what Dr. Blom does for about 3 years, and after a close friend of mine tried him out for several months, I decided to give it a shot in November 2019. I had tried so many things before that, including creative healing massages, physical therapy (including electric pulses, etc.), hydrotherapy, heating salves, etc. Dr. Blom found a minor fracture and obvious signs of whiplash from the accident 1.5 years before (that the hospitals hadn't found in x-rays, CT scans, or MRIs!), and that my neck curvature/twist was still quite funny (something I'd seen as a teenager going to chiropractors) in my x-rays. He worked with me heavily over the next year. Despite how many strange things he kept finding with my case, we started seeing major changes in the images, as well as in the pain and discomfort I was having in my neck. I'm super grateful for the improvement (I had been quite miserable for so long), and even more grateful for his methods and principles. He is not one to adjust when unnecessary, and promotes a healthy diet in place of drugs, etc. He is very personable and interesting to talk to, and makes you feel very comfortable. I'd keep going to see him if I wasn't moving out of state, but I would highly recommend everyone with any kind of symptoms/pain (that you may not think is even related to neck issues) to at least sit down and talk with him and see if he can help you. I wouldn't be surprised if he could. Don't delay so long (like I did) just because of finances (he does offer pretty awesome discounts for different payment plans, or just out of pocket per visit, etc.), it is an investment for your future just like anything else you place monetary value in. read more

I wish I could've received upper cervical care many years sooner had I known about it! I started my treatment about 5 months ago presenting with facial, shoulder, head, and lower back pain that progressively worsened the past two years. No amount of deep tissue massage could ease the chronic pain I was experiencing. I've seen several general chiropractors that would momentarily ease my symptoms only for them to return much worse. Unlike general Chiro's, at UCHC, the cervical xrays are taken from various angles and the adjustments are incredibly gentle and very precise. Lying down on the back afterwords with a cervical pillow and knees propped up is key! My X-ray revealed old backlash injuries and a misaligned atlas. I noticed after only my first adjustment major correction in my range of motion and ease of tension throughout my face, shoulders and back. It was incredible to feel that tiny neck adjustment unwind all of the misalignment throughout the rest of my spine. I remember saying"this is what it feels like to be normal!" I've had a total of 6 adjustments so far and have 7 months left of my treatment plan. I haven't experienced any facial pain since that first adjustment. I've had a myriad of symptoms come and go since the start. My headaches have drastically decreased, no shoulder pain, and still have occasional back pain and left leg tingles. It took time for this old injury to do its damage, it'll take time for it to heal. Overall I'm grateful to have discovered Dr. Blom and the modality Upper Cervical Care. I can no longer refer friends and clients to general Chiro's if they display symptoms of a cervical subluxation after such a wonderful experience with this specialty so far. Dr. Blom was professional and had a good bedside manner, however I would caution those seeking his speciality. First off, they do not accept insurance but offer to bill your insurance on your behalf for reimbursement. They also charge upwards of $650 up front while you are waiting to hear from the insurance, so as you can imagine you are out the main portion of fees by the time you hear back from the insurance. In my case I was denied due to the other 180 providers int the area that have the ability to work your neck. Secondly, Dr. Blom claims the majority of his patients feel relief within the first or second treatments. This was not the case for me, my symptoms worsened, increasing both in frequency and pain. After expressing my concerns he suggested additional treatments and recommended long term plan upwards on $1200+. At this point I was out over $650 and no pain relief, so I did not continue treatment. If you choose to go to Blom I wish you luck and hope it works out. Staff was really nice tho! read more

I am so grateful for Dr. Blom! I suffered several injuries from cheerleading and gymnastics at a young age. I was seen by many different chiropractors and doctors throughout my life yet I never seemed to be getting out of pain. I even had a herniated disc in my neck 10 years ago and it caused me to have to quit my job as a dental hygienist. It wasn't until I met Dr. Blom that I felt I got my life back. Prior to finding Dr. Blom I had spent years going to medical doctors and a regular chiropractor for my constant headaches, neck ache and migraines. The medical doctors just prescribed pills that didn't help and the chiropractor just did adjustments, neither made any difference in my headaches or neck pain. I was taking 10 to 12 excedrin migraine/ibuprophen daily as well as using biofreeze several times a day, every day which only provided temporary relief. I have been seeing Dr. Blom for about six months now. I am not totally headache free yet but on the occasions when i do get a headache it takes one tylenol and it is gone. I have had migraines on an almost daily basis for 35 years. On January 16, 2020 I had a slip and fall and suffered a concussion. I ended up spending six months on physical therapy, vestibular therapy, speech therapy and vision therapy.
