Might be the best little dive bar you could find. Cheap beer, great people, and now serving wine.

Iconic Music Venue & Nostalgic Dive Bar…read more If you are in the mood for a cold beer and great music, then take a scenic drive out to Devil's Backbone Tavern! It first operated as a stagecoach outpost & blacksmith shop. And it famously built the Tavern in Comal County during prohibition. It wasn't until the 1950s that a dance hall pavilion was added to the property. And while the tavern wasn't made famous through country songs, it remained a popular watering hole for the locals. Today, the new owners have helped revitalize the dance hall and brought about a renewed appreciation for this musical outpost. Some of the greatest singer/songwriters come to play at Devil's so be sure to check out the list of upcoming shows. So put Todd Snider in your playlist, check your GPS, and take a drive out to Fischer for a cold beer and great music! On a more personal note, I would love to see more listening room / storytelling type shows and album signing opportunities where artists can take advantage of the great acoustics and intimate space. NOT anymore in my opinion. Service was prompt, found one of the last tables that wasn't high top, waitperson came over to take our drink order quickly. Great customer service and she got help right when we received our meal. Ordered a root beer to go with our burgers. This is a Bar joint, loud enough music, seating at the bar or high top tables. A few regular size tables too. The place was packed at 4:30 PM on a Thursday afternoon. Naturally, all three of us ordered burgers, me a hamburger, my FIL a cheeseburger and my husband the Cowboy Burger, bacon, caramelized onions & mushrooms. My husband had to remove most of the onions, claimed they were like hard shoestrings, the bacon apparently cooked in a deep fryer. All three of our burgers required salt/pepper. Seasoning was nonexistent. My burger was cold, the fries semi-cold. This burger was a major disappointment because I was really looking forward to a delicious fresh-made hamburger Most likely will not be returning.

They were hot, but not so hot it burned my mouth. My friend loves crispy fries. She doesn't like it when they're all soggy like and these were crispy nicely done. the burger was perfect. Couldn't have been better. I will go back and have a burger there. I've had fish there I didn't write a review that time, but it was nice and crispy tasted great. There's always people there very friendly. I will go back. The cooks name that night was Mark. Highly recommend.
