Loved this store. The quality of the items really stands out--it feels very curated, almost like everything was hand-picked rather than randomly stocked. The store is on the smaller side, but that actually adds to the experience, making it easy and enjoyable to browse.Shoes are thoughtfully organized by size, and clothing is even arranged by color, which makes shopping super intuitive. Customer service was great, and the clothes are in excellent condition. They also have fitting rooms, which is a big plus. Prices can be on the higher side for branded items, but it still feels worthwhile--giving clothes a second life while still feeling good about what you're wearing. Most items can be returned for exchange, except those marked as sale, which are final sale. Plenty of free parking available, and the surrounding area is quite nice. I would like to say my first experience selling was actually very pleasant and I was able to get a few things as well, but my second visit.. awful.. THIEVES!!! I walked in and the lady seemed nice at first but the guy at the counter appraising items was not friendly and gave me dirty looks while I was checking in... I was told to stay in store while they went through the items and as I walked around I notice the lady get to my items that I CAREFULLY had folded and she just dumped everything on the counter mixing it up with other peoples things but noticed when I walked up and scuffing up brand new shoes that they decided not to take and now can NOT sell even at a yard sale... When she saw me she quickly made it look like she cared but the entire time she was "going through" my things she was busy gossiping with the male worker not paying attention.. when I got the text that my items were ready, I was told they accepted 4 items for $15... but they LIED because it was more like 6 items because I took pictures of all that I was selling PRIOR and did an inventory count of everything after and noticed they did not add the mens vintage star wars shirt nor the brand new Gucci sandals but took the Kathy Lee Vintage dress and new H and M slides and two other items but would not show me what they took.. I just know because I have photo evidence. I still have a credit but I do not want to bring anything here again! Stay away from this place! Those employees know they are stealing from the customers by taking more items than what is being told... I want to be PAID for those items you stole! read more

I like this location. This is my second location selling items at. Ms Paola was very patient and helpful. I explained I was on momma duty and she offered to make it easier for me and did each basket separately. I'm so grateful for that. Thank you for such a kind experience. She explained since I had more than two bags that I would have to stay in the store. Another thing I'm grateful for... I met Ms Rita (nice talking with you). And because I was in there socialising I couldn't tell you how long or short the process was. I wasn't in a hurry anyhow. If you're ready to clean out your closet this is the way to go...see if your fashion is what they need.l and get a little something for it. The girls did good, I'm sure I'll be on momma duty again This location is clean and very organized. Again, Thank you for this experience. I just left another location different name and how I brought the item here I didn't leave that way. They take care of your items here. Be Very Careful! Do Not Trust prices. Price tag had a $5 sticker for a shirt. Because they were having a "sale" the price was $12.99. Yep, the sale price rang up $12.99 and the sales clerk said because they were having a sale the item would be full price unless I bought another item. Despite there being a huge $5 price tag on the shirt. So just pay very close attention to the prices you are charged as this location may mislead you. read more

Wow! What an overwhelming but well organized selection of shorts, jeans, tops, dresses, etc. This business is a lot like Clothes Mentor with a couple of differences. First, they buy back and resale men's wear. Second, if you bring in clothes, they'll either offer you cash or offer an extra 25% off your purchase the day of bring in the clothing to sale. Clothes Mentor does neither of those promos. Be prepared to sift though! Because there's lots to choose from. Staff is both laid back and will leave you to browse - which IMO is lovely. Saw something absolutely phenomenal in the shoe section for an astounding price, and I quickly ran home to bring things to sell for store credit. The employees went completely out of their way to help me sell after 7pm despite being outside their selling hours and I could tell they were in the middle of closing. I like their selection; however, I think they have some associates that are racist... I brought some items in for sale, and while I can admit some things were more worn than others - I had a pair of pumps that had been worn once... the lady who helped me (appraised my items ), who was very rude and acted like I was irritating her, had another associate tell me my they declined all items because of wear. I admit I had to ask her to give me a moment at the beginning of the exchange (as she acted like I wasn't going to provide her with my ID) and that I had to take a call. I believe she was taken aback/rubbed the wrong way.. and instead of being professional and courteous, she allowed this portion of our conversation to change and/or set the tone for how she interacted with me... it's going to be hard to continue to shop at this location. Staff is cold and disrespectful. they took over 2 hours to look through my clothes and forced me to stay in store. when they were checking me out they kept trying to have me purchase something as I only came into sell my clothes. I then received $12 total for bins of new clothes including zara nike and lululemon and 6 total kendra scott necklaces. When I was leaving I saw the same rude associate put 4 of my necklaces from the totes into their purse. so disappointed and will not be coming back. the disrespect is one thing but the theft is another. The ladies behind the counter didn't even look through any of my bags before they said they weren't going to buy any of them due to the condition. I found it very odd. My fiancé and I brought multiple high dollar items in our bag that were in great condition and because they were maybe overwhelmed with other buys, they didn't take the time to look through ours and sent us on our way. My daughter got asked to HOCO last minute and being a single dad I haven't been shopping for dresses very offensive. We struck out the first 2 places we went but one of the ladies helping us suggested we try Uptown Cheapskate! I was very impressed with the selection and the quality. My daughter tried on 7 dresses in the color she wanted and the one she liked looked amazing on her and was under $10!!!!! The associate that helped us was Katelyn and she was super nice and very helpful even suggesting other stores to try if we didn't find a dress here. I had one bag of clothes and was told they would not buy one item due to condition(condition was never disclosed if it was good or bad) and majority of the items were new with tags from Zara, Fashion Nova etc then items in the store don't match the price tag. Price gouging. The staff are not doing their job. It was busy so I think they just get lazy and decline so they don't have to take the time to offer any money. Sad way to run a business. read more

I sell here frequently just because it's close to my house. They stop taking in clothes PRIOR to 7pm even though that's what's posted on the door. I've rushed a few times to get some small bags in before 7pm and they won't take them (even thought they don't close until 8pm, and have quoted me 7pm multiple times.) Bit of a hassle cause you don't know if you're gonna get someone who takes in your drop off or not, sometimes they do, sometimes they don't. read more

I am creating another review in response to Chris B's comment on my initial review below. Chris, I find your attempt to discredit my previous review quite disappointing and feeble. First and foremost, I have no association with Plato's Closet, nor any other consignment or resale businesses; I work in a completely different field. Please do not assume that by me creating a detailed and thorough review of your business automatically associates me with another consignment or resale business. Secondly, my three reviews on Yelp do not make me any less credible than those with 300+ reviews, as I have just begun writing reviews. Therefore, I am more than happy to write another review in response to your aforementioned comment. Thirdly, I concur: $300 buys are indeed rare from Plato's Closet, especially Uptown Cheapskate, but they are not impossible. Per my previous review, I had a designer backpack (new without tags) from The North Face, two trendy handbags, Kendra Scott jewelry, amongst other name-brands. Additionally, I had cleaned out the entirety of my closet, as I had not purged my closet since college four years ago, thus the nine bags of belongings and the $300 buy from Plato's Closet. I digress. I am glad your business does not have a rule regarding liability for those that need to make multiple trips to their vehicles to bring in a plethora of items for sale. However, you might ensure all employees are congruent in their understanding moving forward, as I was certainly asked to take all of my items back to my vehicle in order to retrieve my Drivers License by one of your employees. Lastly, I respectfully wish you and your business the best of luck. I would never wish for a business to not be successful or to lose customers, as every business deserves a chance to thrive. However, you have indefinitely lost my business due to your lack of professionalism, and I hope future patrons consider my two reviews I have now posted of your business before stepping foot into your business. Of all the Dallas locations, I am impressed by the quality and selection of they have here in terms of men's wear. There is one thing however that throws me off, their advertised sales. Today as I was walking around the store I saw all over the store signs for dollar days sales, items as low as a dollar, ect. I saw another sign explaining that it was on the clearance items. As I took the items up the dressing room, I inquired about the sale and was told that sale was this weekend and was over. Odd I thought to myself especially since there were multiple signs throughout the locations advertising. Yet I was informed that everything on clearance was 70% off. Well it wasn't the sale advertised but still a great deal, so I gathered a couple of clearance items as well as 2 that were regular price. However when I got my total they told me their were no sales. I mentioned that one of the other girls told me that clearance was 70% and the cashier gladly honored that because that's what I was told. I would just recommend you double and triple check your receipt to ensure you are getting your discounts when applied. Also I had gotten a text that stated that due to it being my birthday month I would be getting 10% off any items I purchase throughout the month, thinking the would automatically apply to the non-clearance items. Nope, nada. From what I read each store is run as a franchise, so I will just shrug my shoulders on the sales signs and confusion to what that applies to and perhaps who. read more

They give you Penny's for branded outfit like free people and bb Dakota .. also they over you clothes and dump back like it's garbage. Service quality is the worse ! I brought some items in to see if they needed anything. I understand all too well how this business works so I'm never offended with what people take and what they don't. However, going through the store while waiting I knew right away I brought the wrong stuff. My items were mainly from anthropology and what I saw in the store was more of items from Target... yea Target... saw several "worn" pieces from target brands that they were asking around the same you'd buy them new. At least now I know what to do with my Target shirts instead of donating them!!!!! But it's not a place I'd shop.... My suggestion? Have people in your store that know what different brands are and know how to pick items for your store... the young girls in there have no clue...... read more

Was eating lunch in the area and decided to stop in Uptown Cheapskate. At the front you're immediately greeted with smiles, I ended up leaving with 2 pairs of jean, 3 shirts and a gorgeous pair of sandals. All under $40. Wow!! I'm all for up-cycling and shopping local, I found my new go to shop for outfits! There's clothing items for everyone with different style selections.
