On April 19, 2026, I was shopping at Macy's in Boise Towne Center and wasn't familiar with the store at all. I asked for directions to a specific department, and while the first associate wasn't sure, another employee--Matt--stepped in to help. Matt initially guided me part of the way, but after I made a detour, he went above and beyond by coming back to find me and give clear, complete directions to exactly where I needed to go then walked me over there. That level of follow-through and customer care really stood out. It's rare to see someone take that extra step, and I truly appreciated his effort. Purchased a couch, scheduled for delivery next day accommodating their schedule and paid $70+ for delivery charges. When delivery came they showed up four hours later, no call. I had to call the store and they said these things happen and there's nothing they can do. Purchased barstools at the same time. Its been over three weeks and haven't heard anything about them being delivered. I had to call the store three separate times to follow up and was told "they haven't arrived with the new furniture shipping." During the week of first week of April, I went into the Macy's Boise store to look for a product in the M. A. C. department. I was helped by an associate by the name of Isabella. While my product was out of stock, Isabella was very helpful in giving me an idea of when the product would be restocked. Beyond providing good customer service, Isabella went a step further and sent me a text thanking me for being a loyal customer. When I replied to her text with appreciation, she sent a second text telling me how much she loved my response. Isabella gave me great customer service and went out of her way to express her thanks to me as a customer. I hope Macy's will recognize her outstanding customer service. I tried calling to check on my upcoming delivery and I wasted time listening to an automated machine while I pushed endless amounts of buttons just to talk to an actual person. Macy's provided an old fashioned service that you do not see very often in retail stores anymore. Without being at all intrusive, the sales associate asked if there was anything she could do to help. And then the same associate took care of my transaction. Cassidy was so friendly and did whatever she could to make my shopping experience extremely pleasurable. What happened to the wonderful Macy's we used to have? They have reduced their merchandise in half. The quality of their merchandise has gone way down. They have zero customer service now. A few years ago they closed most of their cash registers and now we are all herded into one big line. They've gone woke and they ask you to donate to woke organizations at every check out when you pay. After 35 years I've closed my Macy's account and I will be shopping at Dillards. I went to Macy's looking for a prom dress for my 18 year old daughter and Theresa and 2 other wonderful ladies let me know what fitting room to go to. The main fitting room by the dresses was packed and a waiting line. Also my daughter is in a wheelchair. We tried on 10 dresses and my daughter found a dress. I also was looking for a new fragrance and that's where Theresa assisted me in finding the right one for me. She knew what she was talking about and she explained the similarities in some of the fragrances and I was able to find the right for me. We got some samples and both ladies told me wich sample to use on my daughter for prom night. Over I had a good customer service experience. These ladies where helpful and very sweet to my daughter. Traveling for work and needed a new dress shirt for a meeting tomorrow (one I brought was done). Walked around looking for a shirt for a good 10 minutes and not one sales associate asked if I needed help. Found a couple to try on and had to look for help in another part of the store to find a dressing room (one I did find was taped off). Dressing room had no mirror inside of it. Bizarre. I just went to take something back to Macy's today and I was reminded why it's so important to support this brick and mortar store! They have amazingly beautiful prom or evening dresses that wouldn't be describable in a picture! They are also very reasonably priced! Do NOT trust their customer service. You can wait on hold for 20 minutes for someone to then lie through their teeth to you! I had a CSR swear to me that I could use a giftcard at the store. So I proceeded to call to have an item held for me and drove 30 minutes to the store... only to be told that none of that was true and that their customer service people would just do that to get you into the door! I was SO angry! Also, it took me a LONG time to find a representative to help me at the jewelry counter where my item was held and I had several employees just walk past me and ignore me waiting at the counter. I am extremely disappointed by this store and all of its representatives. I strongly do NOT recommend this store and be exceedingly careful with their customer service department as apparently they will lie to you on purpose to try to take advantage of you. Really small Macy's. Help readily available in furniture department but not so elsewhere. It's also hard to see from department to department which sucks if you are disabled and have to walk around trying to find the right department because you can't see a sign for it. Came in yesterday to find a homecoming dress for my daughter and the customer service was literally nonexistent. Not one employee to help in the dressing rooms, and when we did finally come across one, she didn't bothered to say hello nor greet us while shopping. When it was time to check out, the old blondish/grey haired woman checking us out was beyond rude. There was a woman in front of me in line and as soon as the woman walked up to make her purchase, the employee tried walking away from the counter until she saw there were 2 customers in line. Once we got up to the counter, she failed to greet us and rather than a smile, we received a god awful look instead which I found terribly rude! She's lucky I let that slide... I managed 3 department stores in my younger years and good lord did this woman lack every ounce of customer service. She took the dress and shoved it in a regular bag for it to get all wrinkled up... seriously?? I witnessed other customers prior to, purchase their gowns and receive a gown bag to go over the gown like it should. She never once thanked us for the purchase nor said good bye... just nastiness! Beyond disgusted with this experience. Time to clean shop and hire employees who know how to treat and greet customers with basic customer service. If this were one of my employees, I'd fire them on the spot. She's more than old enough to know better! read more

I've been a big fan of Macy's for some time. But over the years, it has gotten pretty bad. They used to have some loyal employees who offered GREAT customer service and knew you by name. It's just hard to see and find a "willing" employees there anymore. The store looks often disorganized. They change the location of brands more than necessary, which makes it frustrating when you go in after a few months - I don't remember them rearranging things this much before. I do love their deals, coupons, and extra percentage off with Macy's card, but I do hope that the company get its mojo back. read more

My affection for Macy's has increased over the years. The principal cause for the boost is simple: friendly, efficient, and above-and-beyond great service. My last visit to Macy's was no exception. I arrived the day before the first day of school for the year (so...chaos). I needed, quite specifically, 3 pairs of boys khaki shorts. They were out of the size I needed (understandable, it was crazy busy). I approached the counter feeling tentative about bothering them on a day when they were so clearly swamped, but needed the shorts and wanted to know whether or not they had more on the floor I hadn't seen. The clerk immediately offered to check the back room and when finding none--she offered to order them and have them delivered directly to my home (no charge for shipping). Amazing! She also was able to do all the above quite quickly so we weren't left waiting and no line began to form behind us. Again--amazing. Another thing to note, is that if you use the coupon mailers, their prices are quite reasonable. After the sale price and coupon were calculated in, I was able to get the 3 pairs of regularly priced $32 boys (older boys, not young or toddler) Nautica khaki shorts for less than $14 each, which I thought was a great deal! I ordered a dress for my son's wedding, on October 4th. I paid for express shipping 2 business days, on the 6th I called cause I hadn't received my dress. Was told express was 2 days after the decide to ship it that I might get it Monday or Tuesday. It's now Monday it didn't get shipped Friday it got shipped today! I called again and was told sorry it might get there tomorrow. When I payed for express shipping it said if you order Wednesday you would have it no later then Friday. I demanded my shipping fee back. I can't help but feel this is misleading to the client. No wonder they're closing stores at this rate they're going to lose their online business as well. read more

Today I attempted to buy some make up that I needed. I asked one of the employees who was doing someone else's make up if there was anyone else who could help me get what I need (since they don't merchandise all of it, so I can't even grab what I need and check out at another counter)...she made a very weak attempt to scan the sales floor then promptly said "nope. I know that on my birthday my husband and I will do a little shopping at the mall and will eventually pick up a new perfume as a gift for me. So, with my birthday coming up I decided to visit Macy's to get some fragrance samples which I could start testing to see what scents I prefer, as well as, what my husband likes. The young woman at the fragrance counter couldn't have been more rude and irritated that all I wanted were samples and even interrupted what I was saying to impatiently add, "You can ONLY have 3" and then stared at me. I took my 3 samples and went on my way, annoyed. Guess what Macy's? I used to work in fragrance many years ago and those samples people request? They exist for a reason for YOU to pass them out! If you knew anything about fragrances you would know how important it is to someone that they try one for a while to see how it suits their body chemistry...in fact, you would even encourage it!! It's all good...another competing store's employee happily obliged my request for the other fragrances I wanted, took the time to listen to what I liked, made suggestions and even offered to give me more samples of the ones I already received from Macy's that day. I went to Macy's today and I stood in line for 25 minutes while the cashier, near the sporting shoes and athletic gear could not figure out how to make a return that someone had ordered online. Many other people who work there came and went through the cashier register area. I asked if there was anyone else available. The delivery men failed to deliver my mattress set at the appropriate scheduled time. The delivery people called the night before saying they would be at my place between 1pm and 3pm. I got a call the day of the delivery at 2:00pm saying they would arrive later between 3:00pm and 3:30pm. No one came to my apartment by 3:30pm, so I went back to work to make an important meeting. Called Macy's to reschedule for Saturday, but am still waiting for a call back to confirm. Customer service agent I contacted at your number said that my delivery was completed to my address when it never came! Got a call at 4:45pm from the delivery men saying they were outside my gate. I said we would have to reschedule for Saturday and the delivery driver said to contact Macy's to reschedule and he rudely hung up the phone without saying goodbye. Lousy, will never buy another mattress from Macy's after being treated so rudely. I didn't even have an old mattress to haul away! It was supposed to be an easy delivery! If you can't make your delivery between 1-3pm, why not just schedule me between 4-6pm? If I ever get my mattress there will be no tip :) read more
