I've sold here twice and I'm really pleased with the amount they've given me for my clothing. I wear my clothes A LOT, but I'm always really gentle with them. So if I get back 1/4 for what I've paid for my clothes, I think I've more than got my money's worth. I would say I get at least 1/4 back for what I paid (because I never buy full price, only on sale, hehe). At first I thought they charged a bit much for some of their clothes, but after seeing what they'll give me for the clothes I can understand that. I think they only pick the best and they pay well for them, so it makes sense that they'd charge a bit more. That being said, check out their sale rack when you go in! I got a really nice Michael Kors dress for $7!! (They originally wanted $25 for it, which I wouldn't have paid... but even then, that's a fraction of the retail cost). read more

Policy for selling changes too often. Did a drop off a few months ago at the east location with no issues. They explained how it works. Said to give them up to 3 days to get to my items, how much time you have to pick up your things/money. It was a great experience. Went back within two days collected the cash and tubs and went on my way. Did a drop off at 1:30pm at the west location and it was basic. Signed in told them it was a drop off they said ok we will email you when it's done. Cool. Assuming it was the same policy as before. Got an email that same night at 6:47pm telling me my offer and the rest will be donated. Cool. Went in today to collect my cash and my plastic tub and they told me that since I didn't come last night that they don't have to space to hold tubs so it was either thrown away or donated with the clothes I didn't want....ummmm NO ONE told me this would happen! I was expecting to get my tub back like always, and when I mentioned it to the girl she literally just ignored me and said have a nice day. Had I known I might have actually dragged myself out of the house at 7pm to be there by their closing time of 8pm. I emptied a storage tub purposely to take the clothes with the expectation of getting it back. So ultimately I had to spend some of the money I got to purchase a new tub. HORRIBLE COSTUMER SERVICE !! I had all name brand things like coach purse that cost over $300 and they didn't take it. also gucci slides that cost $150 they didn't take them and then all name brand clothes like American eagle, Victoria secret, and Nike and also Nike air max that cost me $180 and they didn't take them.. but they wanted to take 5 items of mine that were from Walmart and give me $11.... honestly the most weirdest experience I've ever had!!! DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS PLACE unless you have Walmart clothes and want to get $10. WHAT A JOKE !!! read more

I brought in 8 pairs of shoes toms, Bebe boots, sperrys , new balance , bling,blow fish, and bobs all in very good condition the girl walked up to the table after having me lay them out and said sorry we don't want any of those. I said they are all name brand (and 2 were brand new) and she said they are too hard to sell. Boots in winter are too hard to sell? Tennis shoes are too hard to sell? Visited this store to sell items. It took them less than two minutes to tell me "No thank you". I have no problem with that as my clothing may not fit the clientele they are trying to reach. I do have a problem with having to set up an account, including giving them my drivers license number for them to just tell me this isn't the right store for you/your clothes even though most still had tags on them. I would recommend they scan through the clothing first, then if desirable, require an account. As for service, it was just ok. read more

I came in to return something due to sizing. it was the very next day from when I had purchased it and was told even though I have a tag and receipt they couldn't return it even for store credit. so I had to eat $10 but clearly they knew I got it there and didn't want to work with me. they are getting to be so picky over used clothing I won't bother doing business here anymore. read more

Don't ever try and sell your clothes at this business location!!! Not only did they mix my order up with another customer, but the miraculously misplaced my expensive coat, which they confirmed was there by security camera. Instead of trying to make things right, they persisted in arguing with me and said they would call if they ever found it. I am 100% positive that they dismissed my problem after I walked out the door... as I never received a call or minimal attempt to make things right! I've sold clothes here twice, and they are pretty particular about what they'll take. Clothes must be in almost-new condition, nicer brands or trendy, and in-season. I didn't get back as much money as I expected, but it's still a good amount considering the alternative would have been just giving them away. They do have some cute clothes here since everything is handpicked, but I think they overprice the clothes. Things are going to be about 3x as much as you'd pay at a Goodwill or thrift store. read more

I tried to sell to our new East side location. I brought in 70+ items. I had just quit a part time job, which I bought all new clothes and didn't want them as I don't intend to work in retail again. Yes, Im a little bit older but still brought in sizes 7/8 - 10/12 pants and size M, L and XL tops. Some of the sweaters I hadn't even worn yet. I also brought in pumps that I paid 100+ dollars for. I too thought they seemed annoyed when they saw me bring in clothes. Maybe it would have been more humane if they saw my age and said they weren't interested. They ended up buying 7 items paying me not more than $2 per item. Agree, not worth your time and effort. I can get more from a tax deduction and take my clothes to my Family Crises Center. read more

This store caters to teenagers who shop at the mall. They don't sell or buy good quality clothes. All the people who work there are teenagers and it really shows. If you want to buy gently used crap that will break quickly Uptown Cheapskate is the place for you. Wichita doesn't really have a good store in which to sell used clothes other than Uptown Cheapskate and it's a shame that they only cater to young adults. Additionally, if you bring in clothes to sell, they will offer you extremely low amounts. It's greedy and unfair to offer someone $3 for something that cost $80 new. read more

My daughter, grand daughter and I visited here today for the first time. The workers made us feel so welcome, and instead of one dress, we found two my grand daughter liked! No easy task. My first impression was that this was a nicely curated 2nd hand boutique- but the people here are so obsessed with keeping their stuff that I felt uncomfortable buying any of it. I drove here all the way from Kansas City to spend time with my sister and have a nice girls day out. We try to make this a thing we do a few times a year because we don't see each other often. I look forward to this trip all year, and Uptown Cheapskate has been on our shopping tour a few times, I always get excited when we go. When we went in we were greeted by the staff, which was nice, but as we shopped it felt like we were being followed around the store. I have worked in retail and loss prevention for 10 years, and I know what profiling looks like. My mother, my sister, and I came in all bundled up in fluffy coats because the wind chill was a -5. My sister is a bit ethnically ambiguous and my mom is short a few teeth since she invested all of her her money in raising children instead of dental work- and I am certain that without knowing us, assumptions about our intent were made. We looked around for about 30 minutes before we were approached by a small blond girl who requested that we hand her the clothes were we holding and told us that if we wanted to try on anything she would escort us to the fitting room. It didn't feel like a request so much as an "I'm going to take these so you don't leave with them." AT NO TIME did I see any other customer being singled out in such a way. I was both humiliated and angry to the point of tears. It completely ruined the experience for me. When we left I was so upset I cried in the car. My mom went back in to have a word with the manager because she wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt- Abby did an excellent job of toeing the company line and acknowledging that I was upset while deflecting any responsibility or culpability on behalf of the company or the associates. (Golf clap for Abby) But at no point was I offered a real and sincere apology. I was instead told, "I'm sorry you feel that way- we feel that we are providing good service." Newflash: If your service is leaving customers distraught and in tears- it's not good service. I worked very hard for this trip. Too hard to be embarrassed and treated in such a way. I truly hope the teens of dollars Uptown prevents in actual theft is worth the hundreds I'm sure they lose annually by treating every customer like a shoplifter. I will never shop here again and I sincerely encourage any one else thinking about shopping here to reconsider. There are better businesses staffed by better people. read more

Uptown cheapskate is my secret wardrobe weapon. I get lots of great quality brands (Gap, American Eagle, Nike, Puma, Steve Madden) at a fraction of the cost. They have new and gently worn items and I always find lots when I go in. The employees are always friendly and helpful, and the store is kept nice and tidy. I like to sell clothes there, because it beats giving it away to a thrift store for free. And they will donate the clothes they don't take to the women's shelter if you don't want to haul it off. I love that! They also donate to schools in Africa or The Lord's Diner if you want to forego a bag for your items. All around great store! I highly recommend it. read more

I frequent this store quite often. I have enjoyed it over the years. They just recently updated all their racks with new spring and summer clothes and marked down tons of winter seasoned clothes. I really wish they would have a tall section of pants instead of mixing the short inseams in with regulars and talls. I was also pretty upset last night when there was a stain on a pair of slacks that I tried on. Hoping I would get a discount of some sort, the girl took a baby wipe to it, said it was good to go, and said full price. I got home after the baby wipe had dried - still a stain. What a junky way to get you out the door and on your way. After that, I'm not so sure I want to come back in - not a good sense of security when the little girl KNEW I was not pleased but still sent me on my way. read more
