This is the definition of a great company. They are open until midnight, which is extra convenient. They answer the phone and/or call you back immediately. They are quick and extremely professional. I was impressed and thankful that they were there to help me after hours (7PM) when most places don't answer. I called two other places first and they never returned my call. I've used Nolan for years and ashamed it's taken me this long to right a review. Any issue we have ever had regarding our home or rental properties, Nolan always has a way to figure out the issue and correct in an amazingly proficient way. Not only is Nolan professional and trustworthy, he goes out of his way to help when he can. Example, I installed my own Schlage deadbolt in my home and my key was stuck. I must have Youtube'd and Google searched for nearly an hour and tried everything for about the same time to no avail. Swallowing my pride, I called Nolan. It seemed like he literally dropped what he was doing and made his way to our house. I'm no locksmith by any means, but Nolan walked up and literally pulled the key from the Schalge deadbolt like King Arthur pulling the sword from the stone. He then proceeded to take a look at something in the new lock and did something that he said a layman would never look for, but it will extend the life of the mechanisms inside the lock. Within 15 minutes, he was done. I cannot recommend a better, more professional and trustworthy locksmith than Nolan. If he moves, I'm not sure who I'd call to take care of our locksmith needs. Someone from this business came out to my daughter's townhouse on Halloween around 9:30pm after her two year old turned the lock and shut the door. All keys were inside. When my grandson called your business he found the gentleman to be very nice, 10 minutes away, and we were told that it would be about $100. Sure enough the man arrived within 10 minutes, sprayed inside the door lock, put a "magic" key inside the lock, hit it with a mallet, and turned the door knob to open the door. It took less than 5 minutes, probably more like 3 minutes. The charge now was $105.00. Of course my daughter didn't have the cash on hand so she had to give him a card. And now, he says with sales tax it is $112.61. I was present and ask him, "Why sales tax, you provided a service and we bought nothing?" He said that he still had to charge it. As a small NC business owner myself for over 25 years, plus having checked with my own accountant, you don't charge sales tax for a service unless you sell them a product that stays with them. So now my daughter, who is a single mother with two kids, had to pay $112.61 ($105 x .0725 sales tax) for a service that took less than 5 minutes and had an additional sales tax fee. Her invoice doesn't even show sales tax marked. To the owner of this company, please check with your accountant and stop charging sales tax for just service work. We've had a hard time getting the key copied via in-store kiosks etc so we knew we had to go to a local locksmith. I thought my husband had the keys to the house and car as we went to put our twins in their car seats when I locked the door behind me to the house. No keys hidden, no family with an extra key since we just moved in to our new place. I contacted Uptown Lock and Key and they saved us! Nolan was there super quick. Apparently our lock cant be picked so he analyzed the situation and came up with a fix that didn't damage our lock or door. He also had a machine in his work vehicle that can produce extra keys.
