My boyfriend and his family stumbled upon this pizza location and quickly became diehard fans. The other night when his parents called to ask if we would pick up some pizza on the way home, there was only one option: order from Uptown Pizza. I called to order a couple of medium pizzas, and the lady happily took my order and gave me an estimated ready-for-pickup time. The only thing that perplexed me during this exchange: I was never asked for my name or phone number. Wouldn't they be worried about customers ordering and never coming to pickup their food? (Or perhaps they are just that confident in the human race). We were a little early, so we sat in the establishment for a few minutes to wait. The vibe made me think of a place that was a "cut above" other standard pizza-to-go places. There were a few comfortable tables and chairs; by my estimation, ten could have sat comfortably and ate there, aided by the warm paint colours and comfortable decor. There were a steady line of people coming in to pick up their orders. It is not hard to see why my boyfriend's family have become fast fans of Uptown Pizza. The crust is generously thick and fluffy, there is a wide selection of pizzas (the menu list boggles mind) and a generous helping of toppings for every single pizza we have ordered so far. This is a refreshing thing to see when compared to our orders from other pizza establishments in the recent past. If you have an Uptown pizza location near where you are, I would highly recommend this to be your go-to location when you want a quick pizza fix. read more

This place is so underrated. It's in a quiet, strip mall in uptown White Rock with plenty of parking in front. Uptown Pizza reminds me of the pizza my mom makes (and that's no exaggeration). I love pizza almost as much as I love coffee and Uptown makes an awesome pizza. The toppings are finely diced so that every slice you enjoy has a little bit of everything (no adjusting after delivery needed). The dough is light but firm enough to support a plethora of toppings. The smell is out of this world (even if you weren't hungry - when you smell it - you would be). The sauce is generous without being soggy and the cheese covers the entire pizza (for me it's all about balance across each slice). The real test of a good pizza for me - how does it take the next day (if it makes it to the leftover state) - Uptown's pizza holds up and tastes very good the next day too! I've tried it cold from the fridge and also reheated it - both ways it works well and maintains it's great taste. The prices are very competitive and actually better than the chains when you consider the fact that this pizza takes like real homemade pizza. Based upon the rave reviews here, I ordered my first pizza from Uptown. The chain places do better. I ordered the Greek Pizza. There was so little sauce that the pizza was virtually tasteless. A scattering of toppings that might feed a few seagulls, as long as they were not really hungry. The small little meatballs were laughable. At least, I think that was what they were - so small it is hard to tell. I suppose the melted cheese was Greek goat cheese. Hard to tell as it had virtually no flavour at all. Guys, Goat Cheese does not like hot. That destroys the unique flavour. Break up the cheese when the pizza is just about cooked. It should not melt not a puddle of... I tried this place it was close to where I live. Never again. I ordered more than I could eat in one go. Left over Pizza is so good! Not this pizza. It is destined for the garbage. An hour after it should have been delivered, we called to find out that they had no idea of our order. They said the power was out and they were unable to receive online orders. Clif notes: Good Pizza, good prices VS other South Surrey/White Rock pizza Right now this is my favourite pizza in South Surrey/White Rock. I have tried Bucky's, Emilio, Pizza Factory , Newton pizza, Damiano's, a few more that change hands or rename too often,and all of the chains. This is not fancy pizza, but still well made. The crust is fairly thin , but not thin crust. the toppings are well laid out all the way to the cust(which is not a big crust, which a lot of places do to save money.) Sauce is not tasteless, yet not overpowering the toppings. cheese is well portioned and it is not that horrible soy blend some places use. Price is great for the quality of the pizza. I have never thought the prices at Bucky's or emilio were worth it for the final product. On the other end the cheap guys like Pizza factory, Damiano's are all pretty sloppy in my opinion. read more

We ordered a pizza at 7pm on Fri night and were told they were busy and it would take an hour. At an hour and fifteen minutes we called to see where it was and were told it would be here 'any minute'. At an hour and a half we called again and and were told again that it would be here 'any minute'. After a total of an hour and thirty five minutes our pizza finally arrived. We obviously didn't tip and the delivery driver took $5 off the total for the delay. The pizza was excellent (BBQ chicken) and so even with the extended delay we will give them one more chance since they discounted the pizza. We ordered through Skip The Dishes. The pizza here was ok. We had the cannelloni which was delicious. The SALAD on the other hand was atrocious! Brown lettuce, wilted tomatoes, dry cucumbers and white Baby carrots. We wouldn't even eat it. We got spaghetti for my daughter and it was so watery she wouldn't eat the either. She's a spaghetti fanatic and wouldn't even touch it after a couple of bites. We will be calling and complaining about the food. I'm interested to see how they handle it. read more

I rarely write reviews like this. And I've let this simmer rather than post right away out of anger. I've picked up take-out from this place a couple of times, and the food is average. And and nothing noteworthy has happened, until this... I had a problem with an order. Uptown: 'ring-ring....ring ring... uptown pizza' Me: 'hello, I was just there picking up my order a couple minutes ago... the fettucini and pizza...' Uptown: 'yes' ME: 'i order seafood fettucini alfredo but' (cut off / interrupted ) Uptown: 'No you didn't' Me: 'uhh...yes, I ordered seafood fettucini alfredo' (interrupted again) Uptown: 'no you didn't, you only said seafood when you picked it up. you didn't order it'... ---- conversation ended a short time later with no intention of fixing the order. Clearly, he heard me say it when I picked it up. FORGET if it was a correct order or not for a moment. IF HE KNEW THAT IS WHAT I WAS PICKING UP... he should have stopped the process RIGHT THEN.. and said there was a problem with the order, it will take five minutes to fix it.. BUT.. he didn't do that. He heard me ask for seafood fettucini alfredo, and he gave me regular fettucini alfredo (sans seafood). WHY ON EARTH WOULD HE DO THAT... I just wanted to take a moment to explain customer service 101 to the person who took my order, and gave me the food and took my follow up call. (same person). First - APOLOGIZE for the mistake, even if it wasn't your fault. 2nd. Listen to the customer explain their side of the story. 3rd. APOLOGIZE once more, again, even if its not your fault. 4th. ASK the customer what you can do to fix this for them. IF you want their business in the future, do not argue or BLAME THEM for the error. 5th. Let the customer vent/explain/or otherwise offer a suggestion. SOMETIMES they only want to let you know what the problem is. They don't want anything but to vent. 6th. IF you can fix the problem... FIX IT. if not, explain that you would like to do that for them, and if it was possible you would. 7th. Tell the customer what you will do for them. fix it, discount on next order, nothing... be honest, and REMEMBER... a customer, over the next couple of years, is worth a LOT of money to a business. DO NOT TELL THEM... 'no you didn't' and expect the outcome to be good for your customer. And if it isn't good for your customer... don't expect them to come back. read more

We read a review of Uptown Pizza in the local Summerfield Buzz written by Claude. He was spot on with his recommendation. The best pizza we have had in ages. It arrived in 40 minutes and was piping hot. Driver wearing a uniform and was polite and pleasant--a nice change from some of the questionable looking characters who deliver pizzas. I had the chorizo and goat cheese and hubby had pepperoni and feta. Crust was almost a thin crust (which we like). Quality of meat and cheese first rate. The service is night and day depending on staff working. Pizza can be great and well made or just a slap dash poor job and often the order is fucked up despite going over the order.
