Went in for shoulder pain . Did a few sessions in the Whittier office and pain went away. Great doctor, office is huge and I had one session with an instrument I only saw at his office . In my case, an interview to figure where I hurt and how the pain has limited my mobility. Followed by an adjustment, that covers what was adjusted and exercises to improve outcome. He is realistic about the healing process. So I am not at all surprised I'm better but not 100%. He is one of those practitioners that I would follow if they move practices. I trust him. Unfortunatly the customer service at this center is subpar and I do not recommend. I called to redeem a gift certificate that was very old and was told they would not honor it even though I was able to provide the name of the person who purchased it for me. They were able to verify she was in their system but not that she purchased anything. The reason given was it was from the previous owners and they could not verify the purchaser, the certificate etc. They claimed the previous owner stole certificates and they couldn't be sure. The person who purchased it for me even called and they were rude to her. I had to call at least 4 times over a month or two and no one called me back until I finally got the new owner?/or manager who also lacks customer service edicate. A gift certificate NEVER expires and it is unfortunate that for the sake of their reputation and good ethics they would choose to take this route over a measly few bucks. read more

For the last 10 days I have been experiencing a huge amount of pain due to sciatica nerve concerns. My brother who had similar problems mentioned that he had used acupuncture to relieve his pain but I was skeptical. However, due to the pain I was willing to try anything. I went online and found a Groupon for 3 sessions. I decided to give it a go. On my first visit yesterday I felt immediate relief as Judy applied the needles while I sat. I can tell you that the needle pain is very minimal and the little discomfort you do feel is the tension of the points that are being applied. As I sat, Judy had me move my leg in various positions and it really did feel better. i was surprised! Then she had me stand up and walk for a little bit. I was hugely disappointed when the pain returned after about 5 minutes of standing. She continued to work on me and the pain did go down but was still present when I left. Judy told me to come the next day and the thought started to cross my mind, "how many times am I going to have to come back?" but since I had purchased 3 sessions I agreed. And thank GOD because after today's session I really did feel almost no pain. As I write this I had been taking muscle relaxers because without it I could not withstand the pain. Even sitting was uncomfortable and forget about sleeping. For almost 20 hours I have not taken a pill and I could barely feel any discomfort but no pain. I hope it stays this way. Judy suggested I come in every once in a while and allow the pressure to be relieved. I was skeptical but now I am a true believer. Thank goodness because living with pain is no way to live. Thanks Judy and the group at the Uptown Wellness Center. As for the facilities they are very clean and I was surprised how many people come in and out. There are other services that I plan to use such as the spinal decompression and maybe even a massage. i will keep you informed but don't suffer with pain. My experience at this location has been fantastic. Mostly because my massage therapist Lore is amazing at what she does. she listens she address body your issues a true professional and cares about her customers. I loved the way she would target my muscular tightness. Good communication because she tries to explain that one or two sessions won't resolve your problems. The manager is fantastic too she went above and beyond to satisfy and take care of a client. She called me and offered me a great offer to continue my massage therapy. I wasn't impressed with the front desk girl, she needs more training when addressing customers needs. For example of someone is asking a question. Today was my first visit to Uptown Wellness Center and my massage therapist exceeded my expectations! I am definitely coming back here!!

I've been going to Uptown Wellness seeing Dr. Paredes for years. She's great! Well, recently she left to start her own practice elsewhere and when I called I wasn't aware of this, in fact I was never told this. I was told she was "on vacation" and they "weren't sure when she'd be back" when I asked to make an appointment in a week or two instead. I've heard from others that they were given different excuses for her not being there such as "she hurt herself". I was hurting and I went in to be treated by someone else. The treatment was good, but why lie to your patients? When I went to book my follow-up and asked for an appointment once Dr. P was back they finally came clean and told me she was no longer with them. A quick google and I've found her new office and now have my follow-up back with her, but the deceit here is not an ok way to operate your business. UPDATED RESPONSE: Unfortunately your timeline doesn't line up with what I was told as I was given this information only yesterday when I made my appointment, which by your timeline of being told a few days ago, you would've already known, yet I was still told this, and only after I tried to schedule a next appointment, but wanted to wait for to be back for that appointment was I told today. I don't wish any harm to your business, but I am unhappy with the dishonesty. I would've left and followed Dr. P regardless because I like my doctor, and I understand you wanting to mitigate the loss of clients to your practice, but unfortunately this was not the way to do so. read more

When severe pain strikes me I come here first to check it out and to see if it is anything serious. I have constant back issues/problems that arise all the time which can be a really sad and depressing road to be going on. When being so young and having these issues you really don't want to listen to many doctors and pain medication seems really costly price. During my first visit the exasperated chiropractor said they didn't have time for a full evaluation, that it was the end of the day and they were running behind. Understandable if I had been late, but I was on time, and I was in pain, so I was hoping to receive better care. I find the person who works the front desk to be terse toward the clients, and rude to the other workers. Dr. Urteaga (My chiropractor) is very awesome at what he does. He's able to address each and every issue that you explain to him. He is able to help me improve my pain levels with both my wrist, shoulder, and back. He is able to crack and move the bones back into place. Also giving directions with minimal exercises and understands the soreness that comes with minimal exercises as well when other physicians did not understand at times. My Insurance covers 30 visits out of a year with $10 copays. I was lucky enough to be informed by a friend of mine in regards to these benefits. There's a lot of patients that comes to this visit; however, you still get inside fairly on time within 10-15 minutes to see the chiropractor. Appointments usually are 40-60 minutes depending on what they're correcting. Scheduling visits isn't too difficult and there's plenty of time to schedule visits whenever you need to schedule a visit. Parking is on the backside of the building up the mini hill. read more

So being the broke college student that I am, I decided to purchase their $30 groupon for a deep tissue massage. I called to make appointment and got scheduled in for later that day (great!). Reading past reviews, I arrived a little early to do the paperwork so it wouldn't cut from my massage time, but it didn't make a difference, the massage was still only 50 min. It's important to note that the receptionist and masseuse were very friendly. The room however was kind of small and unwelcoming (see picture). There were also multiple times where my masseuse would sit on the rolling chair while massaging me (that was a first). The massage itself was pretty mediocre at best...no rhythm, form, she used only one hand for most of it (might have been texting), used lotion like a gazillion times because it would only last like 10 seconds, moved around me in a rolling chair which was pretty loud...just an overall poor massage experience. I may have just had a poor experience, but I do not think I will be coming back to this location, even with their coupon. As a side note: Parking was pretty difficult to pull into, but that's not their fault, just another hassle. read more

I have been much delayed in my review of Uptown Wellness Center and my visits with Dr. Paredes. We came here for infant craniosacral therapy. We had our 6 week old daughter's tongue and lip ties revised and they strongly suggested this to assist with her learning how to nurse properly. Dr. Paredes was just wonderful. We found out that she had a bit of tightness along one side of her neck as well. Dr. Paredes was so gentle with her and took the time to work with where she was at. At times, doing some therapy while I was holding her and others, lying on the table. I credit a large part of my being able to have a successful breastfeeding relationship with my baby to this therapy and Dr. Parede's work. She even taught me gentle ways to promote good bowel movements and gave me ideas for different types of tummy time. Best side effect of these sessions was great poops and that she slept so well that night. Dr. Paredes truly is patient focused. I would go to see her in a heartbeat again. read more

I purchased some massage therapy session which were great! Then I was convinced to purchase some chiropractic session. The chiropractor is a joke. Probably spends 5-10 min per patient, says his script which you can hear is the same for each patient being serviced before you, and then just puts you on a muscle stimulator or rolling table. States he will call back in a month to follow up and see how your doing, never does. After watching some other chiropractors online and how they conduct their sessions... this chiropractor seems to just knock out the appointment/visit as fast as he can and then onto the next one. Doesn't seem to really work on the patient or target specifics. just a quick general adjustment and off to the next patient. read more

I wanted to make sure my insurance was taken at this location as well as wanting to know what type of coverage and payments I was expecting to make before going in. It has now been 3 weeks of me trying to follow up on the information as they keep loosing my personal information, giving information for other services I did not request and they have never contacted me as they kept saying they would. They should be more responsible with sensitive customer information and follow up on a timely manner.
