I will say there was a lot of vintage/antique items but very limited art (false advertising I felt). Mostly filled with vendors who have spaces inside of King Richard's (sponsor). For those familiar with Whittier's events it was park version of Uptown's Antique Street Faire. There was live entertainment and about 6 different food trucks. A few community organizations were present. Limited parking could be found alongside the park. They did have a free parking lot (which lacked proper signage) locate a few steps of the start/end of the festival. Although after you parked your car it was a nice steep uphill walk to get to the park, not good for elderly or those with trouble walking.

We were able to find free street parking and as long as you're okay with walking a block or two, parking is easy to find. Just a word of the wise not to go into the neighborhoods as it's super tight and fisted parking. It's a fun community event with lots of volunteers and community sponsors. I think it was only around $5 for activities for children like the sledding, petting zoo, and very small pirate ride, but there's lots of free fun things for kids provided through the Children's Museum and other various community partners. Some pretty cool sponsors were T-mobile, State Farm, Toyota, The Spongebob Movie (neat!), PBS, and much more. Lots and lots of seating available. One in a well lit lot next to the Port-a-Potties and another in front of the performance stage. It does get cold once the sun goes down and there's a lot of working so definitely dress for comfort. There's a couple vendors with merchant crafted goods like decorated tupperware, quilts, and other things like toys or clothing. The city is also selling merchandise for the festival and it's centennial celebration. Friends and I got pumpkin, sweet corn, and beef tamales from the vendor that had the longest (yet most efficient line) and the most trophies. All of which were delicious and can easily be seen why they're turbo winners as well as Randy's Spammy (I've missed every single Asayoru collab they had so seeing them here was a real treat). Great place to hang out and kill a couple hours.

Tamales Fiesta - 5/5, really excellent tamales! The red salsa beef tamale was the best one, great flavor. The salsa verde pork tamale was fine. The cheese tamale was a solid choice. I'd pass on the churro cheesecake tamale next time. Very well priced with a drink, at about $27 total. La Reyna Tapatia Events - 4/5, the Hot Cheetos esquites are easily 100/5 so dang delicious! But the pupusa wasn't what I was expecting. It was super flat and didn't feel like it had much filling. Both items cost $25 total which felt a little too expensive for what I got.

Anything that goes on in Uptown during any season is usually cool and fun. Something for the whole family, as they have a pretty decent amount of vendors there selling all kinds of Dia de los Muertos items, such as arts & crafts, gift ideas, clothing-t-shirts, food, etc. There's also face painting for the kids, as well as adults & I believe some activities for the kids too. They have tables from vendors in the community (such as Vape, etc) Live band and performances by rain dancers & other dance groups, etc. Also have some vendors that are local city businesses participating. Towards the end of it, you'll see classic cars (other spots like Philadelphia too). They even had a marching band performing and going throughout the area, dressed like the Dia de los Muertos, it was cool. Always something good to look forward to! Check around September to see what date it will be and add to the list of many Dia de los Muertos events that will ongoing from October thru beginning of November.

Parking get a bit crazy here. The park is located in the middle of a business park, so there's plenty of parking. The thing is, this festival is highly attended, and parking fills up fast. This year I went on Saturday mid-afternoon. Parking really wasn't that bad. I didn't have to go too far searching. When I walked into the festival, I was surprised how low the attendance was. I think it was because of the heat. It was getting pretty intense. The festival itself has a lot to offer. As I mentioned earlier, there's a wide variety of vendors to shop around throughout the entire day. And there's plenty of entertainment on the center stage. From ukuleles playing, a variety of vocal artists, and hula studios performing. You kinda feel like you're at the Aloha Stadium Swap Meet, lol. On a smaller scale though. The food is sectioned off. There's usually only a handful of food vendors, and they seemed to keep the lines reasonably moving along. But I remember in previous years that they were so busy and the wait was a bit painful to. There's not too much variety in the food though. It usually your typical huli huli chicken, chicken katsu, manapua, malasadas, spam, portugese sausage, and kalua pork. Beverages are sold at another tent. The shaved ice vendor was very popular as well lines were much longer there than the other food vendors. If you're coming to watch the entertainment, it's great! A bunch of the local halaus perform here. But there are die hards that go. Pop up tents line the perimeter of the center stage area every year I've attended. Then mostly sitting or standing room towards the back when attendance is high.

It came in a freshly cracked sea urchin shell stuffed with ahi poke with uni on top.

It's beautifully…read moredecorated with a cozy little shed that has enough space for snack steups, including Santa's cookies and a variety of treats and drinks themed to match the area. My kids and I enjoyed some of Santa's cookies with milk while we waited in line to meet him. When we finally met him, he was so friendly, taking the time to chat with my kids and allowing us to snap some adorable pictures. Before we left, he gave the kids candy canes. It was such a fun experience for the little ones, and we're already looking forward to the 2025 holiday season to do it all over again!

There's a very small-town feel to it; locals (mostly) selling food and having booths in the vendor area, car raffle, live music, pie making contest, the typical carnival rides and games and (of course) CORN! It's not really anything more than a local carnival... but I love it, as do so many other La Habrans, and I make sure to attend every year even if just for some tacos, a hot dog or a burger, and (of course) that corn. I support our town! Reading over the other reviews I just shake my head at some of the negative comments, like "white people selling Mexican food"? really? I sure hope that it was an Italian who sold you that pizza! Such ridiculous closed-minded thinking or comparing it to the OC Fair... c'mon, this is a small town carnival, what do you expect? I will admit that it isn't as big or elaborate as other cities, but there's nothing bad about it, it's just smaller and more "local". The Lions Club does a wonderful job keeping it going year after year, they can't make everyone happy.... but they sure do make a lot of us proud! :) Anyway.... for a nice family time, this is a great place to spend a couple hours and enjoy the park.

I would recommend that you just spend the $11 and go to the O.C. fair...they have corn there too! (with a lot of food that tastes better and BEER WINE AND HARD LIQUOR) If you're still cheap as hell and don't want to pay for an entrance fee...wait for the strawberry festival in Garden Grove...yummy strawberry shortcakes and yes they have corn there too plus bars that are at a walking distance :P

Don't get me wrong, I love me some old timey stuff. I have a place filled with pinball machines, a jalopy with a cracked windshield in the back and a slew of old postcards- half of which are written to and from people long since dead. But the idea of walking around a swap meet for old trinkets just doesn't fit in with my hard boiled image. Gee golly, was I wrong. I loved every moment I walked around here. It also took me back to my early days when I was a youngin'. I would go to flea markets every weekend with my parents lookin' for that bargain. It's the awe of being like Indiana Jones without any of the stigma of sorting through someone's garbage on trash day. A lot of the clothing and items sold were perfect for hipsters- if you still believe that hipster means being a follower of bop jazz of the 50's. Much like comic con, I think the real hep factor about this faire was that there was a lot of folks who were rockin' the look of the era(s) and, I gotta say, were the cat's meow. What caught my eye was a bunch of empty old hooch bottles. Clearly someone had been storing a Gin mill in their backyard over in Whittier. Either that or someone's grandparent they raided a speakeasy trash bin Old radios- some of which only had AM tuners. Which, while looked amazing, you'd have to be a dumb Dora in order to stand listening to a limited selection of KFI for the rest of your days. The Big Bopper would not approve. I think a lot of the appeal of flea markets is to get all American Pickers and find that hidden treasure that the sucker getting rid of it doesn't know what he owns. Not the case here. These antique'ers know what they got and aren't going to be a knocked off when it comes to getting their perceived value. I overheard a couple of price haggling exchanges and boy howdy, these vendors are no pushovers. But aside from gawking at really neat-o wares that I probably will just let sit for 30 years until I set up a booth and try to unload them on another pool soul, I was here for a mission. Seems that luck was on my side and I was representing Yelp in the Apple Pie judging contest. My goodness, if this wasn't a taste of Americana with a few hundred calories, I don't know what is. There I was, making the scene with my yelp shirt, but after 10 pies, I was beat. This was no Stand By Me Barf-o-rama moment, no good sir. These pies were picture perfect and I doubt I scored any under an 7 in taste, appearance, texture and flavor. By the end I was screaming Applesauce! Which is what my belly felt like it was filled with. The fall Vintage and Antique street faire has a pumpkin pie contest. My oh my, that sounds delicious- even in this nice April heat. Well worth checking out and bring some cash. You don't want to be caught all wet and pass up the chance to take someone else's old junk and putting it into your garage. One note though - come on folks, don't bring your uncut sheet of Michael Jordan cards. That's neither vintage nor antique. If it is, then I'll really start to feel old.
