I went in to purchase a leather sofa and love seat. They were both on sale 15% off. We also needed to purchase 5 counter stools, a dining room table and possibly chairs. We asked if we could possibly get a discount on the items that were not on sale. The sales person said that they don't give discounts under $15k. Our order would have been $13k excluding tax. She then told us that the order was too large for one shipment and there would be an additional cost for shipping. We left with only purchasing the sofa and love seat. If you have an issue with the furniture, the store will wash their hands and they will ask you to get in touch with customer service. 3 out of 4 items arrived damaged and defective, it took over a week to get hold of customer service which was handled by a student who had to mediate with a supervisor. When I spoke to the supervisor, they had to deal with a different manager. Simply awful. Resolution highly unsatisfactory and chosen to simply ensure no additional dealings with urban barn were going to take place. read more

One coffee table came in 2 weeks the other 2 tables 8 weeks later and no show? I have called every week and get a different story every time. The tables have gone on sale and they say sorry we can't give you the sale price?? They do not care about customer service at all. last girl said 3-4 more weeks no reason why? Let me start by saying I LOVE Urban Barn's products. Through the years we have spent thousands at UB on our own and through decorators. The customer service in store is top notch and 99% of the products are great quality. in 2021 we bought (among other things) a lamp through our decorator from UB. We used it in our living room right above our kids play area. We never had any problems with it until November of 2022 when the *metal* head of the lamp snapped completely off unprompted- including the wires. It was completely disconnected. Thank god it happened when our kids were asleep as it could have really injured them had they been underneath. I reached out to UB immediately hoping to have it replaced or even get some sort of discount/store credit as an almost $300 floor lamp should last more than a year and a half. I have NEVER been given the run around like this before. I talked to five separate employees online who promised to deal with it- all of which totally ghosted me after promising to get back to me. I wasn't demanding anything whatsoever- I specifically asked to just be able to find out if a discount or store credit was possible and what their policy was on faulty items. I finally went in store and the employee was lovely but informed me they're no longer allowed to deal with in store purchase inquiries in store. Quite the policy change! I went online again today and was told to go in store. Lol. When I told them I did and they told me to go online she copy and pasted their return policy and ended the conversation. Why didn't the first person I talked to tell me they couldn't do anything? Why do they not have a better policy for faulty items considering their price point? You know it's bad when Pottery Barn has better customer service than you. All this to say I will be returning the chairs I purchased mere hours before this encounter simply because I don't want to risk having to deal with UB customer service ever again. Such a shame because I truly do love their products and the in store staff. My disappointment lies in the lack of responsiveness and care in the quality of their products- especially when the faulty product could injure someone. Fun little shop I didn't know existed 'til I walked this stretch of West Queen West one frigid Saturday afternoon. I visited their website and noticed a few decorative pieces were on sale. I made a note of what I wanted and went to the store with my sister. Inside we were greeted by friendly (never pushy) sales associates. We checked out larger furniture prices (couches) - very comfortable. Surprised to find out it's all Canadian-made. I don't mind paying a bit more if it's made in country. The sales associate told us about the warranty on large furniture that sounded reasonable. I bought a few small decorative items for my end and coffee tables. Will be back to check out the sofas and throw pillows. All in all it was a positive shopping experience. read more

My review is based on the experience I have experienced with the online agent, and the advisors. The online agents and so-called advisors are rude and condescending. I had a conversation with an online agent Jean-marc about a piece of art that I purchased and noticed that it was on sale for the price that I paid for shipping. I didn't know when I purchased the artwork, but I knew it was within a couple of months. He told me that it was purchase October 2023. He sent me "Price adjustments are provided on a product only if it does on sale within 14 days after it has been received. At this time, we will offer a one-time price adjustment in the same form as the original payment" I thought that was extremely nice of him, and I told him that I would rather not receive a refund, or any money back, and instead would like it in a gift card. He than says "You are not eligible for price adjustment unfortunately" I thought it was weird because he just said that he would do the one-time price adjustment. I asked him for his ID #, and last name and he refused to give it to me, after he started becoming rude. He provided me with a phone number to make a complaint, in which I called. I buy all my furniture from Urban Barn, and this whole experience has turned me off dealing with these people. I had an advisor named Ramanpreet Kaur contact me by email, in which she went on talking nonsense. I called Ramanpreet Kaur back, and I told her that Jean-Marc shouldn't have even mentioned anything about a one-time price adjustment in the same form as the original payment. She said it was a mistake, and she apologizes that I took it in a different way. If I wasn't going to receive the one-time price adjustment, why even mention it? Why not just say its been past the 14 days and I am not eligible. Instead, he confuses the situation, and turns rude. Ramanpreet Kaur who is an advisor, not sure what her role is? Or why she called me? She didn't remedy anything, and she was useless. I asked her what her manager/supervisors name, and she refused to give it to me. She instead told me to hold - which I heard her typing. I asked her after 2 mins, "do you not know your supervisors name?" she said that her supervisor will contact me in 2-3 business days. Urban Barn, you can do better, your agent, and advisors has poor customer service skills, they provide false information, and don't know how to retain customers. I expected better from this business since I buy quite a bit of furniture from here. I don't know why an advisor would contact me, to just reiterate the same useless information, and apologize for the confusion that the agent started. A complaint against a rude agent, shouldn't have gone to an advisor (not sure what they do) it should have went to a supervisor or a manager. I will wait my 2-3 business days, for someone who will have just as poor customer service skills, and poor resolution skills. read more

Very poor customer service. I ordered a bed and was assured it would be delivered on a specific date. Important as it was going into a extended care facility and needed to be there for the resident's occupancy. Not only was it not delivered as promised but I was mislead by the Mayfield location manager "Coco" who told me it was in transit when it wasn't and that it was in the Edmonton warehouse when it wasn't. She made no effort to resolve the problem, indeed her attitude was, Oh well, you can get a refund." Ordered an item under 100 online with expedient shipping. Receipt received immediately. No shipping or tracking information. After a week contacted customer service online requesting tracking and shipping information and received no help just meaningless platitudes about being a valued customer. HUH! Finally after numerous calls spoke with the receptionist, I believe, in Vancouver head office who put me in contact with the director of logistics and shipping. Turns out my package was returned to Vancouver because Urban Barn mislabelled the shipping address. Refund offered, apologies given, refund received and package to be resent to me. Again the warehouse mislabelled shipping address. Second carrier sent no tracking information. Again the package was about to be returned to Vancouver when I called head office for a tracking number. The logistics director intervened and redirected it to be delivered to the local store. It is delivered somewhere and someone signs for it; not me; not the local store. Since CanPar says it was delivered and signed for I am tough out of luck. Do not order online from this company no matter if the item is $2000 or $1. They use CanPar and that should tell you a whole lot about the company and their concerns that the customer actually get the ordered product. read more

This place is great if you like spending time buying furniture and don't want to splurge. The staff has great positive vibe and is quite helpful. The display space is humongous with 2 floors packed with items. Prices were reasonable and the furniture is geared towards more modern style IMO. One can easily loose track of space one is trying to fill in, courtesy of open concept display area. If you are buying for a condo/apartment I would say make sure you have the dimensions down. Furniture seemed well made but I guess only time put in use will tell whether it will last. Give this place a look if you are in the market for furniture. read more

Although I find the name of this store kind of random, I definitely like their stuff. Wanting to decorate my condo, but being on a strict budget. I headed downstairs to the basement of the store to check out their discount merchandise. I must say I was pleasantly surprised. I got three matching candles and some nice faux iron holders for $7! A nice cream and brown throw for $30 and some discount bathroom stuff - and all of it cost way less than it would have at an upscale home furnishing store. The great thing to is it's not Wal -Mart crap. All their stuff has that modern European IKEA feel to it and is priced similarly. Their furniture is a little pricier but its hand crafted and good quality (and you don't have to put it together yourself). One good thing about the store is that all their couches are custom made.. Meaning you pick everything from the design, to the fabric, to the color to how soft/hard you want the couches. I'm new to home dec, as an adult. Seriously, I was fine for the longest time using my bookcase as a dresser. I never had to spend extra pennies to 'pull a room together'. Finally, I'm letting myself go the mainstream route and spend crazy bucks on a look. They have all sorts of nice and modern furniture. Some looks are rustic, some would fit an ocean, animal, cottage, wine-friendly theme. One piece of art that I liked had the following message: I'm sorry for what I said when I was hungry. Something like that. Things don't look cheap here. Though I think there are things that look more high-end, like at Rusteak or perhaps CB2, both located nearby. I'm thrilled that I found a chest-dresser that looked to be strong, but was also on sale. It was still in the hundreds, but at least it wasn't in the thousands. I like their sales. I like saving, and getting pretty (artistic) or quality items. Sales staff were nice, although sometimes they weren't sure about details from an online promo, and didn't ask a fellow sales person. Probably, the question didn't come up too often. If it did, I think they would have asked on my behalf. The advice tended to be good. I learned that normally, to set the finishing touch on a bed, you could place an accent pillow in the middle, and then couple it with a kidney pillow (small, rectangular, good for placing on your neck and bottom of your head). I liked hearing about the characteristics of the collections - whether an item was solid. For this kind of money, I am banking on using the bedroom set for years to come. Decades, perhaps. The store is clean. It is a showroom, and normally the items would have to be picked up from their warehouse in Missisauga (45 min. away from the store, depending on traffic), or white-gloved delivered to your home for $99. $99 is the flat rate for any amount of goods - like a bed frame, oversized chair, etc... I don't think this would include small details like pillows, kitchenware, but larger items can be ordered. White-glove service, means that they deliver it to your home, and bring it to exactly where you'd like it to be placed - including a floor up or down. I read another trusted Yelper's comments. My eyebrows are unofficially raised - I'm hoping delivery will be straightforward, and not dramatic. Anyway, in the end, I am looking forward to getting the goods! read more

Hard pass. If I could give -5 stars, I would. Spent $6000 on two custom couches. First couches delivered. They bled feathers EVERYWHERE. We couldn't sit on them because they poked through. It took 3 months of me contacting customer service to finally get approval for replacements. Second set - over 12 week delivery. The fabric is thin and wearing, feathers are everywhere. They're cheap, ill-made and I will never purchase from UB ever again. I can't even be bothered to attempt to contact customer service. I'm currently obsessed with Urban Barn! To be fair, as a new home owner, I'm obsessed with all home decor stores, but especially Urban Barn. Every time I go in I find something I love, at a reasonable price. Their bedding is gorgeous, furniture is really nice (haven't purchased anything yet!) and their accessories are fun and original. I love that signing up for the newsletter gets me $15 off a one time purchase (who can resist!) and that they regularly have super sales, like 30% off all accessories, 20% off custom made, etc. Their customer service has been fabulous every time I go - there is always someone there to answer questions, find items for you, and make suggestions as to other things you might like in the store. Since I haven't ordered furniture, I can't speak to it's quality or their delivery service - but based on the other service I've received in their store, I wouldn't hesitate to make that next step, once we officially have keys and it isn't all being stored in my basement apartment... I definitely would recommend Urban Barn to anyone looking for more expensive items OR people on a budget! read more

CIRCLE CHAIR, the ultimate purchase! I love Urban Barn. I had a great experience with them while my boyfriend's was not as thrilling. They have this ginormous circular shaped "chair" that is basically a sofa. I really wanted it badly and the customer service I received was awesome. Not forcing, in fact I came back many times and with their patience I invested $1600 (a month's rent basically) on a big, huge chair. It is so comfortable and comes in so many different styles that you can choose hundreds of combinations. The whole process was great. It took a long time for it to be delivered (about 2 months) but it is custom so that was understandable. My boyfriend bought two couches here and the delivery guys did not know what they were doing and damaged the elevator. Then, one of his couches was damaged and they had to reschedule a new one to come in the following days. It was more inconvenience but enough to be annoying. His couches are beautiful though and he loves them. On all the furniture there is a crazy warranty where if you spill anything on them aside from orange drink, they'll fix 'em up for you! They have unique stuff at Urban Barn and lots of custom options, along with your standard Umbra. I really like this shop and their high quality products! read more

Just to update on my experience. I received My purchase 2 months from the time of my order. I did not receive a call the day before like promised to give me a window for delivery. I did however receive a call warning me at 12 pm after I worked a 12 hour night shift and was sleeping that my delivery would arrive in 30 min. I arrived an hour after that call. The delivery guys looked like they hadn't bathed in days and smelled like it too. My house stunk for hours after they left. I called Urban barn twice after delivery to salvage keeping me as a customer as I still wanted to purchase the seating for my table but surprise surprise no one returned my calls. I will never ever shop at Urban Barn again and will make a huge effort to pass along my experience and deter anyone I know from purchasing from this lazy uncaring company. read more

I've never had a bad experience at Urban Barn. I find the staff to be amazing and the furniture selection to be excellent, especially for those who live in smaller sized dwellings in Toronto. Only about half of it appeals to my tastes but I truly think they have something for almost everyone. I have been through the purchase process twice, and the staff thoroughly explains all of the benefits of the furniture and all of the features, even if you have already made your decision. The furniture is all made in Canada and it's really easy to personalize the majority of the couches as many are made-to-order. You can choose your fabric, add sofa beds to the standard size couches, have a stiffer filling added to your couch if that's your preference, and choose a soy-based filling if you prefer. The staff are friendly and really easy to deal with. The only downside is they charge for delivery (kind of annoying when you're spending over $2000 on furniture) and while the prices aren't out of reach for me, I do find it just a tad on the pricey side. I definitely recommend checking this place out. The ones out in the 'burns I've checked out all seem pretty great, too, but I've never purchased anything there. read more

Urban Barn is a Canadian chain of furniture stores that offer a style somewhere between Ikea and Bombay. Some of their stuff is super modern, but with quality comparable to what you would find at Bombay or a higher-end furniture store. They also carry lots of funky stuff like shower curtains from Umbra and other companies, as well as the collections from their own line. One day, when I'm more of a grown-up, I'll definitely want more furniture from Urban Barn in my home. But for me right now, it's just a little out of my price range. It's still a fun place to go browsing, and especially to go test out couches and pretend that you're in your own well-designed living room instead of in a store :) read more

Horrible company. They quoted me 6-8 weeks for a sofa delivery and it will be 12 weeks (who knows if this is even accurate). So I will not have a sofa over the holidays. Their customer service department is one of the worst I have ever encountered. How can it take 3 months to put together a couch? Insane. I moved this year and ordered a number of products from urban barn to decorate. The experience has honestly been worse than anything I've seen at other retailers. Their products are firstly just not high quality. Every single item I ordered had issues and had to be returned. The (very expensive) sofa looked run down within a month and the cushions were terribly uncomfortable from day 1. But the biggest issue I had with them was their customer service. It's so insanely difficult to get in touch with anyone. There is no phone number on their website and it takes forever for them to respond via email, if they ever do. They advertise a "live chat" function but I have never been able to get in touch with someone there. It's either not online or never connects to an agent. This is not a reputable company and their products are low quality dressed up as high. Avoid them and shop elsewhere. read more

Approximately five years ago I furnished my entire home with Urban Barn. I bought a bed, a kitchen table with matching chairs, a bench and a separate matching piece. At the same time I purchased a five person sectional sofa, a custom made ottoman to match and the large nest. We got a mirrored set of night stands and another set of night stands, large hanging mirrors and other nicnacs over the years with Urban Barn. It was always my "go to" furniture store. I have had issues with the cushions on the custom sectional sofa right from the getgo. The customer service has been horrible. Furniture should be made to last, to live on and to enjoy. It all looks amazing in the showroom, but from experience..it doesn't last. I remember them telling me this couch was going to last a very, very long time from the quality they "said" they use. Not true!! I do not recommend spending your hard earned money on their custom furniture. It's really too bad that I had to rate this company with one star. I've been trying to deal with customer service and their final response to me was to spend more money and implied it was wear and tear. They didn't even send out a professional to see the couch. I can't comment on service or delivery as I did not make a purchase, but I liked this store. IMHO I would not compare it to Pottery Barn as its stuff is more interesting and better designed. It offers primarily contemporary design with some transitional pieces as well (Bombay, I don't think so, their stuff is repro Regency for the most part). This would be a good place for someone to buy their first set of "real" furniture and accessories, after throwing away the now-pockmarked things from Ikea. It is the kind of styling that won't disappoint in the home. The furniture is more conservative in design (not in the sense of period styling, but in the sense of being dow-to-earth) but has some interesting elements, but the accessories are more lively and experimental. As I am new to Toronto (two months) and lived in the US till last year, I did not realize this was a chain. Being in the West Queen West area with so many other home stores, I thought it was just another offering. Very poor customer service. We ordered the 7.5 ft Claus Christmas tree and within one week, one string of lights stopped working and could not be remedied by replacing the fuse or bulbs. Urban Barn still has not responded to our ticket regarding this issue and with Christmas fast approaching, we are very disappointed not to have a working tree. What a screw up! We were moving into a new condo and purchased all new furniture - 21 pieces in total - no small order. Very exciting times as we have waited a very long time to find the right Industrial Style Condo. We worked with the Sales Team at our local store in Ottawa to ensure that the furniture would be delivered for August 15th. This was EXTREMELY important as we had sold our current household furniture and my wife is disabled so we needed the new condo to be set up right away. We worked backwards from that date to place the order and pay in full. The week of the move we followed up as we hadn't heard from the 3rd Party Delivery Company, they were a Full Concierge Service, they were to deliver and assemble and set up all furniture. Guess what? They didn't even have the order in Ottawa! They couldn't deliver it on the 15th as they didn't have it. Working with the store it seems something went wrong and the best they could do was to deliver it the following week. So, we moved in and for the next seven days we sat in lawn chairs and slept on a mattress on the floor - not a really good thing for my wife is lives in chronic pain. So much for planning ahead. Fast forward a week later and the truck shows up with the furniture. First thing opened on the truck is the Logan Display Stand, it's got a broken shelf. We move along and get to the Gatsby Storage Bed. This has a huge scratch on the headboard and the side rail has a smashed corner, not good. The custom Bronx sofas arrive next. No legs for either of them and the upholstery is not well done. The Elba Swivel Arm Chair which was in stock when we paid in full didn't even arrive, it was now back ordered? Just to be clear these are the observations of the delivery company whom I sense is covering their tracks taking pictures and showing us the damages, so it appears that they have had trouble with Urban Barn in the past. Five out of 21 items damaged or incomplete, pretty bad results for higher priced items. Again, was in touch with the Store Manager who advised that she had asked Customer Care to follow up in regards to our experience and to discuss further compensation. Not much of a "Customer Care Department". They didn't call and when I finally reached out to them they threw their Manager under the buss. Apparently on both occasions she didn't ask them to call us? Long and short, they are 'sorry' but that's about it! Seriously Urban Barn has left a sour taste with their service and product. Can't say that I would recommend them at all.
