Staff are always super helpful. Exchanged a bed frame for a larger size after delivery and they made it a painless process.

What a screw up! We were moving into a new condo and purchased all new furniture - 21 pieces in total - no small order. Very exciting times as we have waited a very long time to find the right Industrial Style Condo. We worked with the Sales Team at our local store in Ottawa to ensure that the furniture would be delivered for August 15th. This was EXTREMELY important as we had sold our current household furniture and my wife is disabled so we needed the new condo to be set up right away. We worked backwards from that date to place the order and pay in full. The week of the move we followed up as we hadn't heard from the 3rd Party Delivery Company, they were a Full Concierge Service, they were to deliver and assemble and set up all furniture. Guess what? They didn't even have the order in Ottawa! They couldn't deliver it on the 15th as they didn't have it. Working with the store it seems something went wrong and the best they could do was to deliver it the following week. So, we moved in and for the next seven days we sat in lawn chairs and slept on a mattress on the floor - not a really good thing for my wife is lives in chronic pain. So much for planning ahead. The store offered us a 5% discount on our order - a bit of an insult. She advised that the Customer Care Department would be in touch - this didn't happen. Fast forward a week later and the truck shows up with the furniture. First thing opened on the truck is the Logan Display Stand, it's got a broken shelf. We move along and get to the Gatsby Storage Bed. This has a huge scratch on the headboard and the side rail has a smashed corner, not good. The custom Bronx sofas arrive next. No legs for either of them and the upholstery is not well done. The Elba Swivel Arm Chair which was in stock when we paid in full didn't even arrive, it was now back ordered? Just to be clear these are the observations of the delivery company whom I sense is covering their tracks taking pictures and showing us the damages, so it appears that they have had trouble with Urban Barn in the past. Five out of 21 items damaged or incomplete, pretty bad results for higher priced items. Again, was in touch with the Store Manager who advised that she had asked Customer Care to follow up in regards to our experience and to discuss further compensation. Not much of a "Customer Care Department". They didn't call and when I finally reached out to them they threw their Manager under the buss. Apparently on both occasions she didn't ask them to call us? Long and short, they are 'sorry' but that's about it! Seriously Urban Barn has left a sour taste with their service and product. Can't say that I would recommend them at all. Neato! Offering 3 floors of unique home items and accessories, with very helpful staff ready to help at a moments notice. Also, when I went today there were also lots of things on sale. If you are a fan of Umbra products they have a large selection in store. Best of all, Urban Barn is a Canadian chain, yay! Today I bought a cute umbra frame for a reasonable $12. I wanted to buy more (they had a really cute sofa in the basement) but unfortunately I need to find room in my house first LOL. Great store, great experience...will defiantly be visiting this location again. read more

I am going to write an honest review based on my one and only shopping experience with Urban Barn. I will follow another review's format and give the "good and bad". The Good: The furniture is nice and reasonably priced. The salesperson who helped me was extremely friendly, not pushy and aggressive (This was at the Queen St. location, Toronto). I was very happy about the couch purchase that I made. The "very" Bad: Delivery service (AMJ Campbell Moving Company Toronto) is horrible! They are impossible to get a hold of and they did not return my calls in the promised time frame. It took a while to book the delivery date. They called to confirm the delivery block of time the night before....which is not enough time for those who need to book an elevator. On the first AND second failed delivery attempts, no one updated me on the status during the day. I had to call and follow-up on why I did not receive my couch in the promised time frame. I am only hoping that I will get my couch on the THIRD attempt (not holding my breath). The "Worst": Urban Barn's "Customer Care" response to my situation. Their first response: "We will make sure this does not happen again." It was very generic. It did not strike me as a genuine apology or expression of customer concern. Their second response to my reply, which expressed my disappointment to their response to my complaint: "A $25 gift card". Considering the loss of income from the TWO lost days waiting for my delivery, this did not seem like appropriate compensation. I didn't get the sense that they truly wanted to keep my business. So, while I really like their furniture and the service I received at the store, I will not shop at Urban Barn in the future. I don't believe that I will get my furniture in good time, or if I do, it will be a great hassle and costly endeavour. Also, the insincere response from their Customer Care did nothing to promote customer loyalty. A very disappointing, frustrating, and costly shopping experience. read more

Just had a horrible experience, will never shop there again. I purchased an area rug over two weeks ago from Barrie location, from a very unpleasant sales woman. Had to pay in full and she said I would receive an email when carpet left BC warehouse to Barrie warehouse no later than two weeks. I never received the email so after a week I called and after waiting an hour for a call back I was told it is at the Mississauga warehouse but and should be in Barrie soon. A week later I was told the same thing. I can't even express how frustrating calling them is, I was literally waiting for someone to answer for almost an hour when I relented and pressed the number for a call back that never came. Tried calling the store directly but they were of no help. When I said can I get my money back she said sure.....didn't care at all or try to help. Went in today to get my money back and same thing, she gladly refunded me and didn't care why. Poorest customer service I've ever experienced. Don't expect they will be around much longer if they keep this up. read more

Just went to the store yesterday for the first time and am really impressed with their showroom. Definitely worth a visit.

My review is based on an online order placed Jan. 15, 2018. I received the order confirmation promptly (for two items) and even the delivery details (via local courier). When the package arrived, only 1 of my 2 items were in the box, so I decided to follow up a few days later in case the 2nd piece was arriving from another warehouse....it's now Jan. 29th and still nothing. I've emailed customer care (twice) and even sat on hold a few times until I was automatically put into their voicemail. It's very frustrating and also not a good sign that people can't get through to customer service because they're so busy with issues/complaints. I know I've never called a customer service line to give compliments. read more

the most exciting and unique thing i saw at this store, that ive never seen elsewhere is this huge seat that looked like it might have come from an old Lily Tomlin sketch. im sure there was a formal name they had given it, but it was like an over-sized couch/chair. lets call it The Couchair. The Couchair can come in many different colours; the fabric is chosen by you and created when you order it as opposed to it sitting in a warehouse somewhere. i dont really know why thats a benefit to be honest. what do i care? its not in a custom design (besides fabric). The Couchair is purrrrfect for The Couple. very snuggly. (dont tell anyone i used that word). as far as the other furniture and accessories go, its pretty standard stuff. its the type of stuff youd see in a show room for a condo. most of the products dont come from canada, but from china. i asked. they are doing some things to make their operations more environmentally friendly (check their website if you like); you can for example upgrade, for a cost, your foams to bio-foams. i wonder though whether stuff like that is canceled out by where most of the stuff is made. think mildly more upscale, but similar style, to ikea, arranged like the 5th floor of the bay and youve got it. read more

Great customer service, a bit pricy compare to ikea and other places but since they have a lifetime warranty I don't mind paying for it. I also used their replacement plan and they were very helpful and not asking too many questions. I do recommend this place. read more

We spent over 3500 dollars from urban barn in Barrie ontario location. Ordered a pair of custom made miller sofas and to our surprise they arrive 6 weeks later looking like a pair of second hand uneven furniture. The quality of fabric is not the same as we ordered. We immediately contacted the branch and so far no response. Don't buy furniture from this company, they advertise canadian custom made and is nothing like that. We had better experiences with eq3 and Leon's. We are so disappointed . read more

Do NOT order from Urban Barn. The furniture is low quality and not worth the price. We ordered a bed and a couch and both products were damaged upon delivery. Not to mention that if the delivery persons damage your property, which they did in our case, Urban Barn does everything in their power not to cover the damages. They say if the damages are not recognized and written down on the bill at time of delivery then you are out of luck. And if you do notice it and write it down, they first get the movers "side of the story" before covering the damages. So basically, that's their way of saying, they will never cover damages. The moving company, Avenue Movers, were the ones who damaged our property. They dragged the couch on the floor and rushed out the door before we could take a look around for damages. And when complaining about all of this to Urban Barn, the manager, Dayna, hung up on me!! Terrible company and not worth the headache. I would stay FAR FAR FAR away if I were you. read more
