The staff do not like to rush their work, which is pleasing and they are all really pleasant / chatty types which means even if there are only a couple of people in line ahead of you, be prepared to get bored out of yer nut while you watch barbers cutting hair. Yes, its almost like watching paint dry, but only marginally more exciting. I only watched once, for a wee while, but started to get infuriated by some of the fussiness (some may say vanity) of the punters. A simple short back and side seemed to be taking an age with these guys, with every single hair being given the utmost of attention and care. At least the tunes were good and helped pass the time, until Mumford and Sons came on that is. The service here is not quite like your normal barbers. First of all, you get a hair wash before and after your haircut and secondly, the time and effort which goes into the hair cut is crazy. Expect the whole process to take in the region of 30-45 minutes! Now, I'm not that much bothered by a meticulous haircut, I just want someone to somehow contain my might thik bush of a "hair-do". Haircuts in Primo so far have raged from decent to good. But nothing which makes me want to come back and wait in the region of hour and a half. Price wise it's more expensive than your normal barber, about £20 a pop, but as mentioned they do spend a long time on each customer and will not rush things. All in all, I would say defo give it a shot, especially if its quiet. Otherwise forget it, unless you have nothing else planned for the rest of your day.

Rafael (the client) called in the morning to see if there was any chance of him getting his hair cut. You must understand, he's been wanting to do something to his hair for a while, but he's never dared to and kept going for a normal, 7/9 pound hair cut. "Splurging" (bah!) 20 quid for a hair cut was not an easy decision to make. However, he did. So, he called, and got an appointment. We walked in, and a really nice guy (sorry, I have no idea what his name is) took our bags and coats (yes, even mine!), explained that Tommy was still busy cutting a clients hair, and whether we wanted something to drink. We declined, but later I realised they have a properly stocked bar in the far corner - I'm talking a good selection of whiskies (even I approve of some of them) and beers etc. It has a friendly atmosphere. As a girl, slightly intimidating (especially when dressed for a long day in the lab rather than to impress) but everybody was very nice and didn't really pay that much attention anyways. Everybody looks comfortable and chatty and like they really know that they're doing. I was able to listen in to one particular conversation that was going on at the chair in front of me, and I loved how much time the barber (?) took with his client to explain exactly what he was doing so that the guy would be able to replicate the look at home with his own hair brush, gel stuff and blow dryer (this experience opened my eyes to the world of mens hairstyling that I have never experienced in any sort of closeness, but that's besides the point). I love the music that the play also. Rafael was asked over and explained to Tommy what he wanted done with his hair, Tommy smiled and got to work. Personally, I think he did a fantastic job. Rafael was very happy. Lots of extras were offered (including neck shaving?). Rafael says he will definitely be coming, maybe not next month, and with slightly longer hair so that he barber has a little more hair to work with. From both of me, this places gets a thumbs up and we can both recommend this to anybody!

I like the shop's atmosphere; it's modern and cool but not pretentious or intimidating. Mike is a pro at his craft and also a real gentleman. He consults with you beforehand and explains what he'll do, making sure you get the haircut you want. He's also a good conversationalist and plays good tunes. It all adds up to a high quality, relaxing experience. Which is what getting your haircut should be like, right? Couldn't be more pleased to have found Mike at Brother. Highly recommended.

While you wait, big screens show classic sporting moments from Scottish history, usually football, but I have seen rugby from time to time. The walls and ceilings are adorned with classic newspaper front pages, football magazines, boxing programmes, rugby articles... it's a treasure trove of history and almost worth visiting for alone. I admit it might not be for everyone, but if you just want a quick trim and to be on your way, I can't fault it.

Although, for these reasonable prices you get a hair cut which does not make much of an impact and the service does leave something to be desired.
