I received a gift card for this studio & scheduled an appointment for my birthday. I was traveling up to the day of the appointment, flew in on a redeye only to learn I'd accidentally scheduled the appointment for the previous day. I called as soon as I realized to apologize & rebook the following month - stating per the policy, I understood the the amount of the 90 minute massage had to be invoiced; but that it could also be used towards the next massage. A gentleman called me back & said "We understand things happen, but we will have to invoice the gift card & you will have to prepay for the massage you booked, next month." I responded by saying "You all don't seem very understanding, at all. This massage was given to me as a gift & since I can't afford to prepay - I'll just cancel my session." This cost a lot of money. I called to explain the situation and the gentleman showed no signs of empathy. Not exactly the birthday gift or professional service experience I'd hoped for. I get being charged a percentage of the appointment, but charging in full & not applying that payment to the rebooking is so far from being "understanding". Updating to 3 vs 1 after the owner reached out, but seriously - automate reminders. Nobody would be happy about being charged $200 for a service they didn't receive, especiallywhen looking forward to it. I had a legitimate reason for missing my appointment & a little grace would've been nice. Also, per the website - you state the full amount would be credited to the next scheduled appointment for first time clients, but on the phone I was told I'd need to prepay... lowering back to a 2, now that I have the evidence to support my frustration. read more

I received a wonderful massage from Palesteen today. I was lucky enough to be her FIRST client since she has returned to her practice after she took almost exactly a year off due to the pandemic! I chose to receive a massage from Palesteen because her office is fairly close to my home, I felt safer and felt that it was lower risk to receive from her since I was going to be one of her first clients in about a year (I didn't know until I got there, and she told me, that I was the number one first client since she took time off!), and because of her glowing reviews here on yelp! I would like to add a glowing review of my own. I had a very good experience with Palesteen. I arrived about 10 minutes early in order to fill out my new client intake forms, which were very thorough in their scope. Palesteen was wearing a mask, and I was wearing a mask too. She wore the mask consistently and correctly (covering both her nose and mouth) throughout the entire appointment. The massage room was spotlessly clean, and Palesteen assured me that everything had been sanitized prior to my arrival. After I filled out the intake forms, Palesteen offered me hand sanitizer, which I accepted. Palesteen asked me if I had to go to the restroom prior to our massage, and I really did, so I was glad that she asked! The restroom was spotlessly clean, too. Palesteen asked if I had brought in the small plastic basket (that I had with me) as a tote to store my clothing while I received the massage. When I said yes, she made me smile by saying that was a "genius" idea that I had. :) Palesteen checked in with me a few times during the massage about the level of pressure, which was very good - firm enough to feel like it was doing something, but not too deep. During the massage I remembered to ask her to avoid/go very light pressure on my inner wrist area. When she got to my other arm, she checked in with me about which area exactly to avoid/go easy on. This made me feel comfortable and cared for. I had requested my upper forearms and my mid-back as focus areas, and Palesteen spent a good amount of time in both areas. She did good work. I haven't had a massage in months due to the pandemic, and I'm glad that I chose Palesteen as the massage therapist with whom I resumed receiving massage. I had brought in my own oil with me (a blend of almond oil, apricot kernel oil, and vanilla and citrus fragrance), and Palesteen was happy to use that oil for my massage. Draping was good, and the sheets were clean and comfortable. I loved the choice of music and the volume of music - very relaxing. Palesteen and I had a nice chat during my massage. I felt nervous since she was a new therapist for me, so I got a bit chatty. She put me at ease and made me feel comfortable in her space. I had a few moments where I gave her some feedback about the pressure in a couple of specific areas, and she was very responsive to my feedback, which I appreciated. I am a massage therapy school graduate, although I have never practiced massage professionally. I graduated from Port Townsend School of Massage in 2016. Palesteen graduated from Cortiva School of Massage in 2012. Cortiva closed its doors before the pandemic, but I know it was a good massage school, with a high quality of massage education. Palesteen is not only a miracle worker, she is extremely kind and talented as well. I've tried to practice more self care over the few years and I'm very glad I found her. She checks in on the pressure during the massage, she listens if you want to chat, allows you space when you don't and knows the difference between the two! I have had numerous massages with Pal and have been incredibly appreciative of her skills and caring. My boyfriend and I both really appreciate how attentive she is and it seems that she always gives us a bit of extra time if there's something particular that she feels needs more attention. Recently she asked if I liked the music and the water that she was serving and the subsequent time that I came in for a massage she had followed my suggestions :-) what a sweetheart! I suffer from chronic anxiety disorder and a big company is too much for me. Palesteen provides a very understanding and simplistic environment which is perfect for anxious me. She was able to figure out why I'm having pain, explain it to me and give me homework to help me feel better, which I love. I first went to Palesteen when I developed a knot in one buttock muscle I had a very difficult time stretching. Her deep tissue massage helped me get the release I desperately needed and she gave very helpful tips on what I could do to stretch and massage the area on my own.
