Please note that it seems their dishonest business practices are catching up with them... as is indicated by the many one star reviews recently. We bought 3 mattresses that were allegedly made from the 'cleanest products available', supposedly no petro-chemicals etc. But the off-gassing odors were strong and lasted for months and my partner could not sleep on our mattress because of instantaneous headaches. When contacted they were polite and sent (but we had to pay a fee of $270) a new 'topper' with more odorous materials AND it didn't fit our bed. Be warned and stay way. Avoid a $7000 mistake like ours! read more

This is a review 4 years into ownership. The initial experience is 5 stars. Sales team is great, feels like a luxury showroom, and super strong selection. After 4 years, I'm waking up with constant back and shoulder pain. The mattress has weird sagging, which they deemed not enough for warranty, but my body doesn't agree. I'm pretty fit and active, and to be this sore every morning is brutal. We rotate the mattress on schedule, follow the care instructions, and it's just wild how fast this thing wore down. The quality leaves so much to be desired for such a premium price. So many reviews are from the immediate aftermath of a genuinely great sales experience, but not years into owning a 3k mattress which should have lasted longer. Now we're looking for a new mattress and hoping we find something that will last longer than 4 years. read more

Urban Mattress did not stand by the platform mattress product. I went to the store on Colorado Blvd in Denver and worked with Ken. I had a mattress previously purchased from Urban Mattress and shared with Ken the photos of the mattress model. Ken assured me my existing mattress would work well with this platform which costs thousands of dollars. He also did not tell me the mattress had no return policy if it did not work once installed. After installation, I saw the mattress did not "bend" snug with the platform when raised in various ways. The installer and manager who they called told me it would work ok. The mattress and platform are incompatible as after 2 weeks there was still several inches of air gap between the platform and mattress. The comfort was not good and does not provide full use of the platform. I contacted the store and emailed picutres of the problem to the Boulder office as instructed. I was informed that the Owner denied the return request. I have purchased several mattresses over the years from Urban Mattress and am extremely disappointed with the Owners response and lack of concern. So I am out thousands of dollars with a very substandard product system. DO NOT buy the platforms or support this company unless you want to risk a lot of money. read more

I bought a mattress about a year ago because I wanted a firm mattress expressly for a mattress that had not been rolled that didn't happen the mattress corners atill have not flattend out you can see the center od the mattress is concave and a do have a six footed frame as well as a box spring. We are satisfied with the quality of the product and service we received from Urban Mattress. The sales staff were very knowledgeable and respected our price range. Everything is made locally in Boulder and it's a family run business, which I'd prefer to support! The delivery was professional and speedy, not to mention the delivery men were friendly, wearing masks, and offered to take off their shoes in our apartment. For instance, they support a program that helps convicted felons find work. This reduces recidivism and adds to the overall health of the economy. I was really impressed with the upscale ones made by Vispring. Ethan, the owner, told me that The "VI" in Vispring stands for the Roman numeral 6. It represents the six turns to each coil. We moved from California and wanted to upgrade the size of our queen bed to a California King. Johnny took our needs and helped us pick out several mattress to choose from. We were originally going for a Tempur-pedic but after he showed us two more (and cheaper) I knew it was the bed for us when The Canadian and I didn't want to get out of it. He offered us local beer (yummy) and chocolates and let our three year old play with the remote control for the beds. With our Yelp check in we got two free pillows! They didn't have the Cal King in stock so we have to wait a week for it to be shipped but that's no big deal. It was such a wonderful experience and we highly recommend them! read more

I just love my new Harmony mattress from Urban Mattress! It is like sleeping on a cozy cloud. I've had it for about a month now. I had been looking at mattresses for hours before coming to Urban Mattress. The show room was very clean and cool. They had a great relaxing soundtrack for all of my countless lounging experiments to find the perfect mattress. I went to this place because of the great reviews and quickly learned that this place was nothing like others described except for the ones that show they got lack of service as well I walked in to buy a mattress the owner actually came up to help me I was there maybe six minutes trying out a couple beds with another customer walked in and he walked away after helping her he did some work on his computer I was confused as to why he stepped away maybe was because I had too many questions concerning the way the beds were made and the quality of the material. I thought those are common questions and fair to ask especially learning that buying a bed is no easy task. During that time I also noticed a shift in his attitude which was sort of alarming being that he bragged about the beds he has that he designed and created except for the ones that are over $10,000 when I walked over that section and at that time he decided to come back over and talk to me (I tried this on purpose to see what he would do) It was clear as soon as I did this what kind of person he was. He doesn't really have patience for someone buying his lower end beds which makes no sense to me he should just open up an all high-end bed store. Looking reviews, this place looks like quite the mixed bag. And while I cannot speak to the full shopping experience, I can speak my visit to their Colorado Blvd store. While I feel we were steered towards the extremely expensive mattresses, I can not think of a sales experience that didn't start by showing me the top of the line so I could "compare" property. That is sales, and I have learned to accept it. After learning why a mattress can cost more than my car, we spoke with a gentleman named Ethan who I believe is one of the owners. He was very knowledgeable, and also told us about what they are doing for charity in the Denver area. They specifically contract with a group that works with recently released convicts so that these who are entering the workforce with a large black mark on their CV an get work and d all for both themselves and an employer. Also a portion (I believe we were told 2%) of the sale is donated to local charities. And if you of not are for the charities they normally donate towards, you can request they donate it to the local charity of your choice. That is pretty awesome! Anyway, the only reason I would not purchase a mattress from Urban Mattress is that I have a family member in the industry and I know that Thanksgiving would be horribly awkward for the remainder of my years if I were to by a mattress from else. Granted if Ethan could get me g killer deal, I might be willing to live with some extra awkward with my stuffing. read more

Well now I know where I'll go for my mattress needs from now on! This place is exactly what we were looking for after being tossed around in the corporate mattress store chaos. At Urban Mattress, there was never any pressure to buy, in fact, the owner poured us beers out of a keg and hung out behind his desk while we explored each mattress at our own leisure, whenever we had questions he would answer them with great knowledge and experience. The other mattress stores would have a salesman follow you from mattress to mattress with a pleading look of hopeful commission in their eyes, and not much knowledge about the bed other than its market price. There is no where else to go in Denver with this kind of atmosphere and service, there are pictures of the families that you are supporting with a purchase, and that made me feel good because spending money elsewhere felt like just putting cash into corporate pockets. Truly outstanding service! A great experience for my son, who newly relocated to Denver. I called on Saturday afternoon and asked if a bed could be delivered on Sunday the very next day. Billy said to come on over and he would help us out. When we got to the store he knew exactly what we needed for a first apartment, and didn't try to oversell us. We had gone to another store and tried many mattresses. We decided to try one more store that day and stopped at Urban Mattress. We explained we like our current mattresses, which have springs. We had purchased foam toppers for these. Thus, we explained we liked this set up and so wanted a mattress that incorporated these features. The sales lady took the time to listen to us and explain their mattresses to us. Soon, we tried the Dahlia Frim mattress, which is part of their Bloom series. Both my wife and I loved this mattress so we bought it. It was delivered a couple of days later by two great guys. This mattress offers us a firm, gentle support for our entire bodies. We actually wake up feeling better because of this mattress. If you want to buy a new mattress, be sure to include Urban Mattress on your shopping tour. Hmmmm.... every single review is five stars---has to mean some shady stuff is going on in Yelp world right? Negative, this place rocks. I would have never known about this place if I didn't work out right across the street from Urban Mattress. While I'm ellipticalling my life away, I face it and on special days get to see a sign holder facing Colorado Blvd dancing his little, mattress lovin' heart away. I got sick of sleeping on air mattress (ok not really, I'm cheap, didn't want to buy a real mattress and it got a hole in it) so Urban came to mind when I wanted to find a new mattress. I went to their website and they didn't have their inventory online-boo so I stopped by one night last week to taste those babies out. It was near closing time and only one guy working there (Adam I believe) and he was wonderful. He asked me what I was looking for and wasn't pushy in the least and after trying out a few beds my mind was made up. I was in there for a total of 15 minutes and thats exactly what I'm looking for when I'm making a big purchase--I don't need time to rethink my actions and second guess myself! They had some spots open for a weekend delivery which is perfect since I'm an 8-5er during the week. A unique thing about them that impressed me was that they donate 2% of your sale to a local charity (they owners used to work in the non profit sector). I got my bed delivered yesterday afternoon and it's pure bliss, so much so that I didn't want to get out of bed this morning--that never happens to me! We went into Urban Mattress and Steve helped us. His partner Ethan also showed up and helped out - the two of them are great salesmen. Friendly, funny, and easy to talk to. They wound up throwing in some freebies with our Tempurpedic and we left as happy campers. The day of delivery, Steve called to tell us that Tempurpedic hadn't delivered our sheets. But to remedy the problem, he threw in a set for free so we could enjoy our new Cal King sized bed until the Tempurpedic sheets got here. Their delivery men were friendly, clean and fast. I am adding this update to my orig review. I went back to Urban Mattress because of my first great experience. This trip, I was looking for a budget bed for myself. I thought I would give them a chance first even though I wasn't looking for high quality. The owners wife was working. I explained my needs and low budget...she looked thoughtfully at me and said...I think I have the perfect solution...She showed me a floor model that had been moved to the back. (this is right up my alley.....I am the thrift queen) It was comfortable..she said it was actually a great mattress and gave me a smoking deal on the whole setup including delivery. I had it the next day and have really enjoyed sleeping on it!! Note: Delivery would have been same day but I was unavailable! Assuming all mattress places were the same, where price is only difference, I headed to Urban Mattress since the reviews were ridiculous. I was helped by a very friendly and smart guy, who certainly wasn't trying to sell me anything. Not your standard used car salesman approach at other mattress stores. I walked out with a new mattress and box-spring for our daughter that will last 10+ years, contains healthy filling that won't make her grow a third arm, and it's comfortable as all get up. Just recently purchased my 2nd mattress from here and both times, the customer service has been outstanding. Stephen helped me this time around and took the time to hear what I wanted and guide me in the right direction. I walked out 20 minutes later with a great mattress (and even learned a little bit about mattress construction to boot!). I set up delivery for 2 days later, but with an impending blizzard (21 inches!) I decided to come back and just put it on the roof of my car that night. This is the kind of shop I love - a locally owned, socially conscience store where you are likely to work directly with the owner or a member of their family. The selection of mattresses is top quality and the staff is very knowledgeable. It is very clear UM is most concerned that you are happy with your mattress selection and they offer only high quality products to help make your decision. No high pressure sales, just friendly, honest advice from an informed person. If you are in the market for an environmentally friendly bed UM has the best selection. Our Tempur-pedic mattress (which isn't enviro friendly, but made in the USA which is important to us) just arrived and we couldn't be happier with the service we received at Urban Mattress. We had looked around at a few other mattress stores and had narrowed our choice down to 2 beds by the time we got to UM. This store has class and we are now life long customers (and I'm not saying that just because we were served glasses of Blue Moon while we tried mattresses, but nice touch guys). And the delivery was super quick - we had our mattress in 2 days and they said they would deliver it at 11am and they showed up right at 11... Right now there are 4 locations, Cherry Creek, Park Meadows, Highlands Ranch and Boulder. Definitely worth a stop if you are shopping for a new bed. read more

I first met Paul at the small Thornton location, and he was terrific from the beginning. As we all know, mattress shopping is difficult, because what feels right in the store doesn't always feel right after awhile at home. We purchased a Tempur-Pedic mattress with a 90-day guarantee (the store offers its own 30-day guarantee, no matter which mattress). The Tempur-Pedic felt great, but I kept waking up every night because I got too hot on it. After a couple of months of hoping that aspect would change, I finally called Paul and explained the situation. Without pause he offered to exchange the mattress and asked me to come in again to pick something else out, because he wanted to make sure we were happy with our purchase. In the end we exchanged the Tempur-Pedic and chose a mattress from the Urban Organics line (100% natural, latex) and it is by far the best mattress I have ever slept on. I LOVE IT. So I'm a very happy customer, I'm sleeping well every night, and it's because of the superb service and local philosophy the folks at Urban Mattress offer and abide by. Thank you Paul! Just purchased the EVO SLEEP Comfort Cool 5.0 mattress...Ok, so I haven't had a full night's sleep yet, but I have been working in bed for the last few hours and I have to say it feels amazing. I can't wait to actually SLEEP. I was not jazzed about the idea of spending $4000 for a Tempur-pedic which I actually did at first and then quickly returned the next day - yes I had buyers remorse. This mattress was half the cost and it 's actually more comfortable thus far. I just moved to Colorado for school after living in Texas all my life. In order to make the move a little easier on our back and sanity we made the interstate trek without furniture, the plan being that we'd remedy that once we arrived. Mostly I have to reiterate what everyone else has said. Steve offered a very nice, no-pressure sales environment, and even went so far as to comparison shop for me, checking up the stats and showing me mattresses similar to what I had seen earlier, down to the coil count! As it turns out, not only were the comparable mattresses cheaper here, but they also were made of natural materials (i.e. soy-based foam and natural latex)! When I saw how interested these folks were in charity and social work (Steve is getting a Masters in Social Work, and portions of the proceeds of my sale went to a local charity and to setting up a water well in Africa) I couldn't help but be sold. Plus they gave me extended same-as-cash financing and same-day free delivery (and only fifteen minutes after the start of the three-hour window they had given me)! "Service doesn't matter when buying a mattress, right?" WRONG! Here's the story: having been to Denver mattress, mattress king, etc, my wife and i decided to go back to UM to purchase our mattress. While you may find a cheaper mattress elsewhere, do not ignore quality or service with a purchase this large. While the owner, Ethan (along with Co-Owner Steve) wasn't there this time, his sister was. We found the right mattress and purchased it. It was one they were trying to clear out, though we ordered a King instead of the floor model Queen. After an easy checkout with no up-selling, and having chosen our charity to which they donate 2%, we left, and the service began. Minutes after we had left the store i received a call that said they didn't have the mattress i ordered. They knew i was torn between the one i purchased and another so they offered the other, (more expensive), as well as pillows and other goodies! When they called back ten minutes later to get my decision, they told me they found the mattress in a store in Boulder! Long story longer, everything was perfect and we got the mattress we wanted. We recently purchased a new house and along with it, some furniture. We didn't realize that included in this was a mattress and box spring. In short, i called UM and they credited my credit card, one day prior to delivery, and only delivered the mattress, sans bed spring. Overall truly an excellent experience.
