Terrible mattress. Started out with the king sized urban mattress brand hybrid in a medium and exchanged it for the firm (was called "uptown firm), not sure what it equates to now) after 30 days because the medium too soft and already started losing support. The firm was fine for about the first 3 months and after 6 months it was so uncomfortable that we had to add a topper. Unfortunately we couldn't exchange it again and the trial period is so short they might as well not have one. 2 1/2 years and 4 different toppers later this mattress is so uncomfortable (with or without a topper) that my husband and I can barely sleep. He is larger than I am and I constantly roll into him the entire night due to the lack of support this mattress provides. When I do manage to get to sleep I wake up in so much pain that most mornings I physically can't move my legs or neck. I have to slowly wiggle myself to the edge of the bed to be able to stand up. We're not old either!! Both of us are very active and fit! But We have started sleeping in our guest bedrooms or the couch just to get a decent nights rest. 0/10 do not recommend. It might be the worst $2500+ I've ever wasted. The 2 star rating is only because the salesperson and delivery people were kind although in hindsight I'm not sure anything the sales person said to get us to buy the mattress was actual true so this should probably be more like 1.5 stars. read more

We went to a least 4 other mattress stores before we came to Urban Mattress. We were blown away by the quality as well as the incredible prices. And the customer service was second to none. And I really mean that. The service at the other stores was subpar at best. My son found a mattress he loved and we bought it on the spot. Delivery was free and they donate 2% of the sale to a local non-profit that you get to choose. A year later when our younger son was struggling with his crummy mattress we didn't waste any time and went straight to Urban Mattress. We bought him the same exact mattress as our oldest. It has been three and two years since, and they are both extremely pleased with their mattresses. When my husband and I decided it was time to replace our crummy mattress we went back again. We just bought our new mattress and are very excited to get it next week. Again, free delivery, plus free haul away of the old mattress and box springs. Again, donation to a non-profit. And once again, stellar service from the nicest business owners in Fort Collins. They have an outstanding exchange policy to boot. A full 90 days! I generally hate shopping, especially for items where snake oil salesmen abound. Urban Mattress was a pleasant surprise. I dealt with Colin, and he was very patient and encouraged me to take my time and really feel out what I liked and didn't like. Ultimately, I chose the Uptown model made by Urban Mattress since it felt better to me than the many other beds I tried elsewhere. The company is also much better for the community than the megabrands, so I felt right about supporting them. I am looking forward to using my new mattress! Yes there sales pitch was inviting but turns out Miles in particular who conveniently no longer works there found a way to not send correct info to loan company & seems to have lost my down payment in the process. In search of a good night's sleep has been a long quest. I had a Tempurpedic for years but it slept hot which, as a woman of a certain age, became unbearable. I tried a couple of different "bed-in-a-box" companies: Slept on a Leesa mattress at a friend's for 3 months - pretty good but not right for me. Then bought an Avocado mattress - definitely not for me. Finally, I went to Urban Mattress and was pleased to hit a great sale and bought the Bloom Camelia. What a difference! I love this bed - it stays a comfortable temperature, perfect firmness, great support. Ahhh! The folks at Urban Mattress were super - they even delivered my donated mattress to the women's shelter after setting up my new bed! Let me begin by saying I'm like the Princess and the Pea with my bed. I had a hip replacement at age 40 and I am super picky about comfort. If I'm happy with Urban Mattress, everyone should be! Hubby and I wanted to upsize to a king when we moved out here in June. We met with Kelly, and she was fabulous. She threw a free mattress cover and 2 latex pillows in with our purchase! We tried the Unity first, thinking it would be good for pressure point relief. It was, but it was just way too soft. My hips were sinking down so far, my spine was out of alignment. My neck hurt constantly during the day. So we went back, and met with Miles. He was so awesome, and he could tell that we really weren't happy, so he was willing to swap it out 2 weeks before the 30 day minimum trial. We wanted to respect their policy (and you really should to make absolute sure the bed does or doesn't work), so we gave it the college try and waited the full 30 days. Bed logistics are so complicated. If you change firmness, you need to reexamine your pillow. A new mattress might be too hot if the comfort layer isn't breathable. It's just stressful. What I love about Urban Mattress is that they encourage you to lay down for 15 minutes minimum on their mattresses. They don't come back every 5 minutes to see how your doing- they just let you shop and chat if you want to. In the end, we decided to swap out the Unity for a Tempurpedic Flex Supreme, and we had our new mattress in a week. I could see massive improvement in my neck and general body well-being in 2 days. Hubby and I just really need a "sleep ON the mattress, not IN it" kind of experience. I LOVE my Tempurpedic, can't wait to get into it every night, and Urban was eager to keep us happy. Since they're important, I'll start with the perks: free coffee, free beer, free delivery/setup, and courtesy child entertainment while you test drive mattresses. On the day we visited, we tried to go in at 11:00am, when they were supposed to open, but there was nobody there. I tried calling, but there was no answer. It was 10 after by this point. No biggie, we just came back later. With all the sales banter of warranties, mattress design/engineering, and preferences of royal families our saleswoman was mostly wasting her breath on me and my wife. That didn't matter though. She convinced us to spend a considerable amount of time laying down on one mattress that we really liked in particular. "Lay on it for at least five minutes" was an effective way to get me to settle in to the experience of being sold something awesome to sleep on. I was antsy to lay down on as many mattresses in my price range as I could, but had I done that, I very well have left without buying my dream bed. Meanwhile, her partner kept our 2-year-old daughter entertained for a good 25 minutes, which was awesome in and of itself. When we left that day without making a payment (waiting for x-mas $$$), I don't think they expected us to return. No, we def returned and got the king size mattress we've always wanted and now we like to imagine we sleep in a frickin' hotel every night. It's awesome and we love it. Beware the bait and switch! When we were shopping for a new mattress we stopped in at UM FC and spoke with the store owner. I laid on a bed that was the most comfortable thing I'd EVER lain on, and we were pretty much sold. But the bed in the showroom was a queen and we wanted a king. I made an offhand comment that I like a firm mattress and that I wouldn't mind it being a little firmer yet. The associate ordered our new bed in the next firmer version without further discussion. The bed we ordered was a ViSpring which are RIDICULOUSLY expensive. They ship from Europe and we waited for weeks in anticipation. When the bed arrived it was as hard as sleeping on our wood floor. No joke. Our arms were falling asleep on this thing. Returned to store several times and the model we had fallen in love with was nowhere to be found for comparison. Exchanged the mattress for a softer version (ViSpring offers a one-time exchange) and the thing is still uncomfortably hard. We've added really expensive plush toppers, plush mattress protectors - we've done it all and STILL the bed is nowhere near as comfortable as the one in the showroom was. I think the store sold us a different model of the bed from what they had on the floor, or were wrong about the softness level of the floor model. Why would they? To make a nice posh sale. This was before they had a bunch of ViSpring on their sales floor. Maybe it wasn't done out of malice but of ineptitude? Now we're stuck with this super hard, uncomfortable, expensive mattress that is supposed to last for the rest of our lives. There's no way I could convince my husband to spring for another one (the RIGHT one). Truly a huge disappointment. Buyer beware. read more

Decided that since we live in a smallish city we should support local businesses. Hear that Urban Mattress is locally owned. Off we go. As usual we lay on every mattress in the place and are guided by helpful staff. There are brands here that are out of the ordinary such as Lumina (by Sherwood in AZ) and Dunlopillo. Picked the Lumina and it was delivered on the day promised by patient and careful strong men. Great mattress, but it turns out it wasn't for us. My bed was supposed to be delivered today, got a call yesterday saying the truck was broke down and it could be Wednesday before it's here, not only has it been over a week since we purchased the mattress but website states that they offer next day delivery, I'm calling tomorrow and getting a refund. Really disappointed in this business and its management. We bought an expensive queen bed four years ago that developed big indents fairly rapidly within the first two years. Since my wife and I are underweight and we are otherwise take great care, this pointed to poor construction of the product for us. We have now brought it to the attention of both owners separately and in person. We also spoke with Mark in sales in addition. Despite many repeated efforts to submit a claim on our behalf with the manufacturer across the last three months especially, they have pledged help and support but have provided absolutely none and now don't return any calls at all despite repeated phone messages. I can't recall when I last had this bad of an experience with any business - utterly senselessly in my view, very different from the great service we typically receive when we come from out of town to Fort Collins. All this is made worse by the claim of "service" after the sale. Well, important lesson learned, I won't be making the same mistake twice. read more

My wife and I visited Urban Mattress twice over the past year -- first as "tire kickers" and the second time (a year later) to finally buy a new mattress. The experience on both occasions was stress-free (as it should be) and included none of the high-pressure sales tactics that I had previously come to expect with this kind of purchase. We tried several high quality mattresses of various types and price points. Along the way Kelly was very helpful and let us take our time until we found the right one. In the end the experience was enjoyable, the price was more than fair, and the purchase and delivery were easy and straightforward -- everything we could ask for. One thing we really appreciated was their support for several local non-profits -- their support for one of which being the reason we came in initially. By far the best customer service compared to any of the other mattress stores in town. They were patient with us as we debated and mulled over our decision. They kept an eye on our 1-yr-old as she walked around the store so we could focus on trying mattresses. We went to several other stores knowing we planned on going back here. I also liked that part of their revenue goes to local charities. Delivery was okay (minus 1 star): it should have been very simple -bring in king mattress, set on bed, leave. First they brought in two box springs (which we did not order), then the wrong mattress, and then finally the right one. Because they went in and out of the house several times and there was 3 of them, they tracked in water and I had to mop up after they left. Still, they were polite and apologetic and it wouldn't detour me from buying from them again or recommending them! We visited Urban Mattress in Fort Collins based on reviews. We went into the store in late July and tried many beds in the store. We were helped by the owner Kelly and Joel who helped us select a bed that was firm but plush. We had it delivered and slept on it for about a month and decided it was too firm. We called the store and they said come on back in and find one that fits what you need. No questions asked on their part. They let us stay in the store and try as many beds and for as long as we needed to be sure of what we wanted. We selected another bed, they delivered (by one of the other owners and a new hire he was training - that was cool too; an owner training a new hire on delivery) and took the other one away with no problems. It is perfect. It is exactly what we were looking for. The bed is wonderful. We selected the Silver Lake Plush. This bed will last a long time; it is very well made. I would highly recommend Urban Mattress. I was absolutely blown away by their customer service. I didn't feel pressured, and I appreciated that they did not try to "up-sell" something to me, as they helped me find something that was actually below my budget! Bruce is willing to work with what works best for his customers, and I can greatly appreciate that. I also like the store environment, very clean. All of the staff that I encountered was very friendly! The free delivery was a huge relief too, very helpful!
