Normally I would not post a bad review but this was just plain dishonesty of the owner. My mom and I went to Urban Oasis for massages. She also got a facial and I sat in the salt room. I finished first so I explained to the owner that I wanted to leave a tip for my services and my mom's. I then went outside to wait for my mom who came out 5 minutes later. After we left I found out that my mom also left a tip for our services right after I did and the owner never told her that I had already left a tip!!! This was not a misunderstanding. She simply took the money and never said a single word. Neither one of us enjoyed our services but we didn't think twice about leaving a good tip. Times are hard for everyone but we work hard for our money also. For this reason, we will never go back. read more

I booked this spa for my husbands birthday, and was looking for something special. The staff was really nice! However, the overall experience was not great. It's inside of a sort of strip mall-ish building next to the lake. This spa does not have robes or sandals or lockers. When we went into the salt room we left all of our stuff on a rack in the hallway, which didn't feel safe with other customers walking around and we also left our shoes out there and entered in our socks. The salt room was interesting but got all over us (which is why a robe or something would have been nice). The couples massage was good and had a view overlooking the lake. We heard great things about Himalayan Salt but never believed all the hype until we came here! The staff, the facilities, and the backdrop of the bay make this place incredible. We first had a 45 minute session seated in gravity chairs inside the salt room where the walls are made of salt, the floor is covered in 4"-6" of salt, and there is a fan blowing salt powder into the room for you to breathe. It is exactly as it was described by the staff "like standing at the front of the titanic looking over the ocean with your eyes closed and breathing the ocean air." After that I waited with my feet on a heated salt rock, while drinking tea overlooking the bay while my wife got a massage. We then switched to where I got a massage, while she got a facial. At the end of it all we were so refreshed and re-energized it was incredible. This place is great, the staff is fabulous, and we cannot wait to make a return trip! read more

She helped us make an appointment for couples massages and the salt room. It was 4 of us and we took turns with massages and the salt room which both were both wonderful and super relaxing. You can tell Lori the receptionist loves her job she is definitely a people person. The whole place is very relaxing especially the back room where you can sit and enjoy the view of Grand Traverse Bay before your session starts. I had a Swedish massage, reflexology foot massage and then 45 minutes in the salt room. The massage therapist Tanya did a wonderful job. The salt room was vert relaxing and calming. This spa! My mom, sister, and I all got massages and spent time in the salt room. The massage therapist was one of the best i'd ever had. She was sweet, and knew exactly what she was doing. My sister had her first massage and is obsessed. The salt room is so cool, definitely worth a try- amazing for a calm nap. I only took a star off due to a scheduling issue- my mother called three weeks in advance and spoke to the owner, but she never booked us. We called two days in advance to confirm and found this out; she felt sorry and tried to rebook us but messed up again. However, the receptionist, Jamie, was so lovely and corrected the error. We all got what we wanted, no harm no foul. We understand how hard times are with short staffing. Definitely visit this spa! read more

I arrived today to my couples massage appointment 15 minutes early to find that one of the masseurs had called in and they tried to call us to let us know, but they took my number down wrong. Honest mistake, no problem. We decided still do the sauna and then do our massages back to back. The sauna wasn't ready when we decided what to do, so we had to wait 10 minutes. It was OK. My fiance went first for the massage, then after he got done, he came back to the waiting room. We sat there assuming they we're getting ready for me, come to find out that they misunderstood and didn't think I wanted a massage. I did fill out the massage forms, so I don't follow why they thought I didn't want one. At this point we're 2.5 hours into our appointment, so I just skipped it. My fiance said the massage was nice though, so that bumped it to a 2 star experience. read more

I really enjoyed this spa! The spa manager opened early so my mom and I could use the salt room before our services. Everyone was friendly and welcoming to my mom and I. Our massage therapist, Lacey was AMAZING. She is very experienced, used the best passive range of motion and hit all the right spots. Highly recommend requesting her services. Our esthetician was also wonderful, very relaxing and gave a lot of great tips. Only problem with the facial was there was no extraction, that's like the only reason I get facials! I went in for a salt wrap. I've only had one before at a different place and it was amazing. I was very disappointed with this one. She rubbed salt on my back and then had me turn over to put the salt on my arms and the front of my legs. Never touched the back of my legs or my heels....just put some on my toes. A salt wrap is supposed to exfoliate your skin and is wonderful when they do it right. They should not offer this service until they train their people better. It's not worth $150! My husband had a massage at the same time and he said the therapist talked to him the whole time. Not good. read more

My wife and I visited the Urban Oasis Salt Spa as the first stop on our honeymoon. This cozy & homelike spa was the perfect way to start our trip. Lori, the spa coordinator was absolutely wonderful to work with from scheduling through the entire spa experience. Our hot stone massages from Alesha and Lacie were extremely relaxing and got all our sore muscles from the wedding feeling great again. We also loved using the salt room. If you ever go to urban oasis, don't leave without scheduling time for the salt room. We felt notably energized with clearer breathing afterwards. Beyond the great service and amenities, the spa has the most beautiful view in their relaxation and massage rooms. I was looking to have 4 massages for a group of 4 at the same time. Due to the holiday, the spa called in a therapist so that we could have two go at a time and have the other two who were waiting sit in the Salt room until they could have massages following the first two. That sounded ok but there was no mention of a charge for the use of the Salt room. Tanya gave great massages according to the two who had her. The two who had Lisa complained of long nails and a ring leaving scratches and complained that she didn't work out knots when they were discovered. We appreciated the kindness and accommodations the spa made and masseuses provided but some things left us thinking we probably would not return soon. Also the Salt room left our eyes stinging so I suggest bringing eye drops if it's winter or you have dry eyes. read more

My daughter purchased massages for my wife and I a little over a year ago, she spent $250 with this establishment and I have theyre receipt as proof with no mention what so ever about an expiration date. When I called to book the appointments I was very rudely told that they had expired but if I paid another $125 they would book the appointments. The lady on the phone was very rude and unprofessional and stealing someone's $250 dollars seems like a bad business practice to me. This was a good way to spend some time to relax. They were super nice and opened early for us on Sunday since we couldn't get in on Saturday and were heading back to Detroit Sunday afternoon. The snow came in more than expected that morning and the owners got stuck in a ditch but the massage therapist came to the rescue. We started a little late so we only got to spend half the time in the salt room. Very disappointing facial experience. Found out after coming into a cold room, bed not heated, no facial steam to start with to open the pores for treatment and cold wet towels instead of heated that they don't usually do 2 facials at once so I was put into the overflow room. So while my facial would normally have included the things above, I would not be getting them because they don't have the equipment for two rooms. Hmmm but the price is the same? Advertised as a 75 minute facial that the owner clarified includes turnover so it's really 60 minutes. That would have been fine too but mine was 45 minutes. So all in all, very disappointing experience and it was my birthday so major bummer that I was looking so forward to this treatment and it was terribly disappointing. On the upside, Mary did the very best should could with what she had. The owner discounted my facial by 50% so there was some recognition that it was less than great. However, I'd have rather saved my money and skipped this experience completely if they'd have been honest when booking as to what the experience would actually be rather than trying to pass it off as something it would not be. read more
