Terrible experience 05/18/25 around 11:30am. Cashiers here are always helpful and friendly however the floor staff and dressing room staff are very unprofessional. I noticed when looking at the sale items the employee (young blonde woman with her hair up in white shirt) that came behind me and abruptly asked "finding everything ok?" with attitude and no smile, started to follow me and watch me. It was weird. She wasn't watching other young women as intently as me.... Then before checking out I noticed another young blonde employee wearing black was watching me too as if I was going to steal. I have been a loyal customer to this location for two years now but damn after today I don't want to return if I'll just be harassed by employees judging me and assuming I'm going to do something bad like what... weird experience and highly unpleasant. Do I like the clothes and sale items here..yes....but do I like the harassment at this location... heck no. Would not recommend. Nice to have an Urban Outfitters location right on the Ave, as I imagine the store is frequented by college students, the perfect clientele for UO. I do like Urban Outfitters for its fun accessories, which has me visiting this store whenever I'm in the area. My friend and I stopped by here after lunch since we were already walking towards the bus stop. It's always still a mystery how UO decides to organize and display their apparel. Women's apparel and accessories is on the main floor, with some home and gift items. On the bottom floor is where you'll find more home and gift items, in addition to a small men's apparel selection and where all the clearance is. No matter how many times I visit UO the clearance is always hectic...at all locations. The racks were disorganized and there were different prices for the same item at this particular location. If you're in the area and have some time to browse then stop by this Urban Outfitters. There are quirky gift items, including funny cards/stationary, plush animals and home items you didn't think you needed 'til you visited the store and saw said home item. I used to go to Urban Ourtfitters a fair amount back in Colorado but in the Seattle area they are kind of few and far between and steadily over the years I kind of drifted apart from them. What always drew me in and had me come back was their kitchy dust collectors and accessories and their men's clothing section that would always get hipsters excited. Over the years Urban Outfitters put out merchandise that caused controversy as well as their company policies so that also contributed to some of the drift. I wondered into this store just last weekend more out of wanting to do some window shopping. Urban Outfitters is about the same as it was. Still hipster oriented and they still have adorable dust collectors. The men's clothing section seemed pretty small and there was nothing too terribly interesting about what they had. The Urban Outfitters locations that I have been to over the years usually had a large women's clothing section and a smaller men's section which I realize is not unusual for stores like this but the section for men's seemed especially smaller than usual at this location. The staff was very friendly and the highlight with my recent visit here was their vinyl record collection and record players but other than that there was nothing that I couldn't live without... but they almost had me with the string of sushi lights they had for sale... almost... but not quite. read more

I shop at Urban Outfitters a lot. Let's face it, between Anthropologie, Free People, and Urban Outfitters, UO is the most college friendly. I wouldn't say I shop here because I'm a wannabe hipster (besides real hipsters go to the thrifting), but because I like the clothes and most of them are good quality. And among the Seattle-area stores... I'd have to say this ties with the Capitol Hill location. Why? 1. Sales Rack: OK, I am one of those people who only scour the sales rack because they can't afford full-price clothing at the store. They have a very good selection of sales items, lots of fun nick nacks and clothes. And though it's not as big as the Capitol Hill location, I seem to have higher chances of finding a good sale item here. 2. Organized: I've been to a lot of messy Urban Outfitters between here and California... I really like this one because it's clean, and the sales rack is manageable. Granted the accessories/nic nacks are a mess, but there's not really a way to fix that. At least the clothes aren't on the floor. 3. Staff: They're always friendly and willing to answer questions. I've never ran into a problem with my constant running to the fitting room to try something (which is very important with this store). One time a dress I really wanted to buy had a broken zipper- they offered a "broken" 20% discount on the sale price. When it seemed impossible to fix, I went back and they offered to order it online with free shipping, since it was still available. The sales price was even honored despite the fact it was regular price online. However, it's one of the reasons I docked a star... it would have been nice to have been offered that BEFORE buying the damaged dress, but it all worked out in the end. I think everyone in the staff needs to be informed of these kinds of things, since the lady in the fitting room didn't know, the cashier the first time I bought it didn't inform me, and it wasn't until the manager was my cashier for the return did I learn of this. I'm surprised at the reviews about the staff here though... I mean, this UO location is in the University District, moreso on the Ave. If you're expecting a sales person to assist you every step of the way go to University Village. But on the Ave? I say the way they're doing things caters to the people who normally shop there. You want REAL super snobbish UO staff? Check out the Downtown Seattle location. read more

This place is one of the last places I want to shop. It isn't local, it isn't sustainable, the clothes aren't super well-made. But I did recently buy a little portable record player here and it has been great to listen to old records. I love the selection. But they say 2-3 PM is for employees to do something and it was 1:45 and they were cleaning the fitting rooms. Why? You have 2-3. Unbelievable. Then I saw three people came inside as a group and one had the mask covering his face but not the two females. They had it on their neck. I found the staff to be really pleasant as I browsed here last week. While not as well stocked as the Broadway location (it's my fav in Seattle) they have a pretty good selection of ladies stuff. Not so much sales stuff as downtown, but you can't win them all. One thing I did notice about the shoe selection here though is that they seem to have many more colors/ sizes/ and overall selection than the other two stores. For clothes, I'll shop on Broadway. Good clothing, all of the items were the same style; more different colors and cuts however. The employees were distracted and talking to each other rather than engaging with the customers. They seem to be too focused on making sure our masks were over our noses rather than connecting with the customers to make sure we could find what we wanted. read more

Shifty cashiers: So I've had repeated incidents where there's a sale and I go to the counter and purchase my items only to get home and realize none of the sale was applied to my purchases and I had paid full price for everything! I've had to go down and say "hey why wasn't the sale not applied". Their response? "Oh we only give the sale customers who asked for it?" And only sometimes do I have I gotten my money back. WHAT THE HELL? Why do you have all these damn sale signs? Just seems shifty to me. Check your receipt always!! This Urban is about the same as any I've been to. I can never bring myself to buy anything here at full price, because I don't feel like the quality is worth it, but they have some really cute stuff (which I always try to convince myself I can find somewhere else, and then realize that I can't). At this point, we all know what Urban Outfitters is about. That being said, I'm a big fan of this Urban Outfitters (at least in the summer). I've probably been to at least 8 different Urban Outfitters throughout my shopping career. This Urban Outfitters is one of the most organized UOs that I've ever been in; it was actually fun to rummage through items you found attractive because the majority of things were in size order! Imagine that! This location also has a lot of fitting rooms so there was hardly a wait for me. This might change once school is in session, but the layout of the fitting room area seems conducive to high traffic. This is compared to the Capitol Hill location which has at most 3 fitting rooms for the entire store; not such a pleasant wait. The salespeople are average/below average; they stay away from you. If you like to be followed around the store, you might not get the service you're looking for at this location. When I did approach salespeople, they told me what I wanted to know, but they were not that friendly. The salespeople could have carried less hipster'esque' arrogance and be more approachable. read more

If you're looking this Urban Outfitters location up on Yelp, chances are you're either an employee wanting to know how his/her store is doing, or you've reached a level of boredom akin to searching for Hipster Ariel memes. Or maybe you're vapid enough to want to re-read your own reviews of this business over and over again because you take delight in your own opinions. No judgment, but I bet we won't be friends if you're part of that third group. No matter what the case may be, here's what you need to know: -This location is consistently clean and well stocked during various points of the retail season. -This location has mostly the same items you'd find at other Urban Outfitters, but had a good stock of the home decor and knick knack items that are missing from some locations due to higher traffic at those locations. This is a good thing if you like Urban Outfitters. If you do not like Urban Outfitters then I don't know why you keep going in or why you're reading about it on Yelp, frankly. -The staff is kind and courteous and all points during the day. I have shopped here on a weekday morning, a weekend afternoon (which everyone with a pulse and some experience knows is a stupid time to shop and expect customer service anywhere), during the Christmas/holiday season, and during the fall. The staff at this location is consistent with greeting, offering fitting room help, and engaging the customer at the register, and has been at all of the aforementioned times. There were many people there and it seemed like this store attracts a lot of teenage girls (especially of the Asian variety). What a bunch of assholes. Wait, can I say the word 'assholes' on here? Whatever, that's what they were. I took my 10-year old to Urban Outfitters for Kidrobot toy shopping, and we spent about 20 minutes searching for the right one. We found four toys equaling around $75 and walked to the cashiering area to pay for them. Let me say right now that the store was EMPTY except for a few bored-looking employees. There was a young girl at the register entering receipts or something, and she looked up at us a few times and then around the store as if to convey how busy she was. She was not busy. HER JOB was to help us. After standing in front of her for a couple of minutes, waiting for her to help us, I looked around the store; two employees were gossiping near the front, one was wandering around the store. I said, "Excuse me---" to the girl and SHE SIGHED LOUDLY AND KEPT ON PUNCHING IN RECEIPTS. I threw the toys on the counter in front of her and said, 'Thanks for the prompt service'. We left, and will never, EVER return. 1. It sucks to work retail, and you don't make any money. But if you can't perform the most important function of your job, ie; HELPING THE CUSTOMER (guess what Urban Outfitters relies on as a company? CUSTOMERS), then go get a different crappy job at a different crappy company. 2. How rude does can one person be? I've never been treated like that in a retail situation before. I'm pretty sure the girl was a student, so I'm hoping she doesn't go into a profession that has to do with PEOPLE. She was such a mangy, anorexic jerkoff, as so many students are these days. 3. Your business just lost almost $100 thanks to this brunette biatch, and I can't have been the only one. My 10-year old said, "Mom, she was really lame", and I couldn't have agreed more. It turned out to be a good lesson in What You Shouldn't Stand For, but I really just wanted to buy the toys and be done with it. Don't bother going to Urban Outfitters; or if you have to, check out the one downtown or in one of the malls. Maybe this store is the one that is for students-only, and they can just be rude to each other and ignore each other until they grow up and retail karma comes to crap on their face. I am not a manager, nor a "team lead" - I am employed at the lowest level possible by Urban - a part time sales associate. There is really no reason why I would write this response to you other than that I feel your review was inaccurate and would like to clarify a few things. I do not know if I was working the day you experienced "crappy, rude, snobby, horrible staff." If I was, I apologize if I exhibited any of these behaviors towards you. If I did, it was unintentional. I do not believe any of my coworkers are inherently crappy, rude, horrible people. I think they are very kind people, in fact. If your perception was that of being looked down upon or ignored, then I don't see any problem with you stating that. However, it does not seem accurate to superimpose your single experience onto the staff as a whole by making the generalization that we are inherently rude, snobby, etc. It does not take into consideration all the hard work we put into trying to be as considerate and helpful as possible. Just like any other Urban Outfitter, young thrift store looking clothes with high prices, cute hats, cute purses, cute scarves, cute books, and cute home furnishings. Service here is pretty good, you are always greeted with a Hi/Hello when you walk in, after that it can be hit or miss sometimes someone will ask to assist you sometimes they won't. Be warned if you aren't a size 5 you'll probably have a hard time finding something that will fit you in here, I just skip the whole clothes section and go for the cute gifty stuff. read more

At first I viewed Urban Outfitters as a pretentious faux-hipster brand (and for the record, it largely is). It grew on me when I found some cool stuff you can't get at either traditional clothing chains or thrift stores - stuff that looks casual but classy, without the stains and holes of a thrift store. I got a jacket at Urban that fit and looked nice, and has held up exceedingly well for over a year of regular use. I've worn it at least a hundred different times and it still feels sturdy (I'm wearing it as I type this review). This place is on the Ave, pretty central and close to campus. It's uniquely-suited to the university demographic. Two things make that former appreciation untenable, and mean I don't plan to shop here again. First is the indignant staff. They have a haughty attitude about them and don't like dealing with customers, at least those who aren't skinny, young, and white. You can sense a disdain in their voice and body language when you ask them a question. It's like they view shopping here as a privilege. The second and far more concerning problem is the matter of where your money goes. In our lovely capitalist system wealth accumulates to those at the top. This is not an abstract idea: a dollar or so from every purchase you make will go to one individual: Richard Hayne, CEO of Urban Outfitters. He has contributed to the horrific campaign of Rick Santorum, a backward-looking endeavor that sought to undo years of progress for folks of all sorts - including African-Americans, women, LGBT people, and non-Christians. Your purchase at Urban Outfitters will directly support these regressive donations. A week ago I went into Urban with a friend of mine because she had some items she wanted to return. Naturally we looked around the sale section to find some goodies before we left, and I found a great hat! The hat seemed to be missing an accessory, as some glue residue was still on it. When I went to pay at the register I had no problem paying the listed price seeing as I could just pick the glue off myself, but the lady behind the counter instantly offered to give me %50 percent off, which was too kind. After I purchased my awesome hat, my friend wanted to return her items. She didn't have receipts, and usually the store would say "sorry, store credit or exchange only." The same employee (we later learned her name was Jenna, I believe she was a manager) went completely out of her way to figure out when the sale was made, found the receipt in her system, re-printed it, and returned the item for my friend. She was even kind enough to show us where a previous error had been made and how their system works so we didn't feel like dumb customers in the process. She was incredibly patient, went above and beyond our expectations, and I've NEVER had a genuinely good experience shopping retail. I came in at 10 AM, which is right when they open and when everyone at UW is in class (I wanted to do a little shopping before touring the campus, haha), so I'm guessing my experience was a little different than the norm. Still, my visit made my day because for some reason this location had everything I was going to order online in the exact sizes I wanted. A lot of that was on sale as well, and I had no problem finding it because everything was organized and neat. I didn't really interact with the staff besides when I was paying for my clothes, so I can't really comment on that. Overall, I'm very happy with my visit. If I end up going to UW next year, I'll definitely be back. read more

I hate giving bad reviews but I was just re thinking my situation with this store and how I really am still tasting the bad blood I will now have with Urban Outfitters after being a loyal customer since their beginning. I went to this location after the weekend after black Friday, I wasn't aware there was a weekend 50% off clearance items sale, I knew about the one before noon on the previous friday following Thanksgiving, but either way I had purchased a Unif brand whatever bomber jacket for $99 and another item pants I believe on sale for $30. I purchased them for my self along with other gifts for other people on my list but I did so before thanks giving. I called and was told by a women that If I didn't have my receipt that I would get the current selling price back in store credit. So I drove all the way to this location. The girl who helped me was a manager "(not the store manager tho) she has dark hair and it's short she had it in a half pony tail. She wore the same sweater I've seen her in the last few times I've stopped by the store since but I digress. She then informed me she would have to take an additional 50% off my store credit because of the previous weekend sale, which was no longer running. Needless to say after almost crying she did nothing to help me nor did the female store manager she huddled with before coming back and practically smiling as the manager told me they had to reduce it because the previous weekend sale. It was clear I didn't purchase them then, and also I was told I would get the CURRENT selling price back which obviously I didn't. needless to say I took what I could get as the items didn't work for me size wise but I will probably never purchase from urban outfitters again. Im also going to be sending this to their corporate head quarters to see if they can do anything to regain my loyalty. I feel they make more than enough money to actually follow through on their promises for exchanges at current sale price. The items I re purchased with the store credit also didn't get an additional 50% off so It was even more disconcerting. NE ways live and learn. But if I could give no stars I would. Watch out for this manager girl she is pissy and rude and vindictive she took my return personal I felt and that is not good customer service in the least bit. read more

Today in particular, I wasn't on a mission for anything specific, I just happened to be two doors down shopping at Buffalo, when I suggested that my friend and I take a look around. We wondered in, upon entering we weren't greeted, the associate was just air folding shirts, no hello. We spent maybe 5 minutes upstairs and decided to check the sales to see if we could dig up any gems. I noticed an associate working on a table; it look like she was arranging nail polish and I made a point to ask if they were all $0.99, she responded yes, and then she got up and left shortly after. My friend and I continued browsing, I put my merchandise down on the table the girl had been previously been working on for less than a minute to grab a pair of shoes underneath the table. When the associate returned, instead of asking if I was finding everything okay? Or if I needed help finding anything? She replied in what came off very bitchy, "Is this your stuff on the table?" I told her yes, explained I was just looking at the shoes, apologized, picked up my items, put the shoes back, and was pretty much ready to go. (not quite understand why she didn't try to make a sale out of the situation) I was ready to leave after feeling quite unwelcome, but my friend was still interested in browsing. I moved to the racks and found this pretty great peplum top, and I suggested my friend try it on. She went over to men's mirror and tried it on, and indeed it looked great, and were satisfied, but once again we were deterred when we realized we were being FOLLOWED around the store. This could be my speculation, but the store was pretty much empty, maybe 3 or 4 customers, my friend and I were the only ones downstairs then all of sudden two cops are there lingering behind us. I would like to mention that myself and my friend are both African American females. I came in without a bag, with a purchase from my buffalo excursion wrapped in its receipt, she (my friend) had a small side bag, not even big enough to put a shirt in. Fed up, I walked to register and PAID for merchandise, a wallet and some nail polish, and made a point to put the already purchased item on the counter as well. The cashier seemed a tad confused and mentioned, "I thought those were our pants" as she rang me up, which seemed like it went hand in hand with the current scenario we were in. As we left, the two cops with their shitty acting skills, pretending like all of sudden bacon band aids are fascinating, backed off. I never been so offended in my life and have never stolen, been followed, or even have a criminal record. I'd also like I mention that I to, work in a retail establishment and have worked for one similar to UO, and have been offered a job a couple times at that particular location. The "service" that I received was none, and quite frankly I don't plan at shopping there again, especially if I feel like I'm going to RACIALLY PROFILED, by some ridiculous hipster arranging nail polish for $0.99. read more

My boyfriend and I were here last week. The employees were pleasant and greeted us when we came. They didn't hawk over us or anything, just gave us space as we browsed. I agree with the other reviewer, the clothes are pretty over priced for looking so thrifty- but that's the store's selling point I guess. Anyways, we ended up walking out with 3 pairs of jeans in a decent cut with a good wash for $10 each. Not a bad deal. read more
