Another one of my favorite stores at U Village. They have a great wide selection of jeans which are such great quality. I love their simple dresses that you can easily dress up and down. The stories a long rectangle. It can feel like tight if it's busy. Dressing rooms are in the middle of the store and there can also be quite a line for the dressing room. read more

Why haven't I tried their jeans before ?? I haven't been satisfied with any pair of jeans that I had bought in the last few years. I was searching on YouTube to find the most comfortable and flattering jeans available on the market and many influencers talking about Madewell. So I had to come out and try them out. Honestly, their jeans are amazing, in terms of both fit and comfort. These are some high-quality jeans. Got some pairs during their sale for great prices. They have jeans in multiple sizes, styles, colors, lengths, curvy/regular/plus. So I am sure that you will find something that will fit you. The shop's decor is minimalist. The staff is very nice and helpful. The only small thing I didn't like is that I wish I had got more help when I was trying out and needed help in finding the right fit given that there are so many options. The store is in the university village, so plenty of parking is available. Highly recommend this place! read more

Love this store - perfectly situated in University Village I find myself stopping in here whenever I'm walking from the garage to the Free People or Bartells. They have such cute accessories I always have to have a looksy. Even if I'm not planning on making a purchase it is fun to stop by and see what is trending here - they have that east coast style down pat! Sales here are far and few between, but their products are well made (as their name suggests!) so you really get what you pay for here. I'm excited that Nordstrom carries their products now, too. Members receive a $25 gift card for their birthday. Over the past two times when I made an in-store purchase the cashiers never wished a simple 'happy birthday'. It's not something I demand but it only takes a few seconds to say something kind. read more

My mom and I found a cute sweater that we both wanted, but there was only one x-small size left. We asked if they had any more in that size but the salesperson said they didn't (without checking but obviously they knew). No offer to order it online and ship it to the store for free, which they do at almost every store. I made my mom buy the sweater for herself and I told her I would check online to see if they had any more. Well they did, and on sale too, so I got it for cheaper. I also shipped it to the store for free. When I pick it up I plan on bringing up the lack of customer service. Can any business nowadays afford lackluster service? I don't think so. read more

Madewell's style is the perfect Seattle style. I love all their Hugh quality clothes. Their jeans are my absolute favorite. My jeans started wear in the thighs and they patched them for me complimentary! I was totally expecting to pay for it so was very surprised! They stand by their products! Terrible customer service. Went to get a fitting room when there was no one in line- this terrible catty lady told me there was a queue and I should be more polite. This kind of customer service made me dump the clothes I had in hand- which I would have bought, if I had only gotten a fitting room. Congrats, you lost $500 because of me. Go ahead and call me a sheep for loving this JCrew spawn. Baaah baaah baaah. I've been waiting patiently for Madewell to open this summer...and it has finally happened! If only I could afford to shop here regularly because I LOVE everything there. Le sigh. This is the first location in the Pacific Northwest so it's only fitting that it's in the uber trendy and pricey U Village. If you're a rather conservative dresser but still consider yourself young and still slightly hip (like moi!) then you will probably find something you like. Or 10 things. Or everything! Oh Madewell. I like your simple, sturdy clothes so much. The feminie, quality clothes hold up to even my rough wear and tear. However- I take away a star for the CRAY prices you proffer. Sure, the sales are ok, but I still cant buy things there unless there is a sale on the sale rack (which they do! and you should go buy things then). I take away another star for limited selection/sizes, etc. They have 4-star quality, but 2-star prices. Staff is always friendly and nice. Sometimes too friendly, but it's to be expected. read more

There's this salesgirl there that I really like and I think she is half asian/half white and wears glasses. Well, she is always very helpful when I am there but today, she was extra helpful. - Helped me pick out several denim options and helped me figure out the best length to hem based on wanting to wear them with flats, heels and boots - I had a one time use 20% coupon but since they were out of some of the things I wanted, she gave me 20% off in store manually (they had a few things I wanted in store) and then helped me order the rest of the items online using my code. She wanted to make sure everything went through. And no, I don't think she got any credit for that order. - She even helped me pick out the best Transport tote (i.e. each bag is different due to the leather, suppleness, softness, sheen). She probably spent an hour helping me when there were also other customers in the stores. I asked 10 million questions and she answered each one patiently and offered great suggestions. read more

This was my first time that I've gone into Madewell looking for clothes for myself. I've always been under the impression that they were both too expensive and too much of a J Crew-like petite fit, for me. For years, I have not been able to find a pair of jeans that fit right and my friend said I had to check their denim bar. To my surprise, I was two pant sizes smaller in their jeans than other brands AND they fit amazing. Kelsey gave such good, personalized customer service. She told me about all the perks of purchasing at Madewell, as well as their denim recycling program. She listened to what I was looking for and also recommended some of her favorites. I had to limit myself to buying just one pair (my initial expectations of price point were right, unfortunately). I want to live in them! read more

The only faux jewelry I've come across that won't tarnish. T shirts have ripped for me after a few washes in gentle cycle. Otherwise great basics and long lasting jeans that keep their stretch. All levels of staff have always been friendly and helpful. read more

Bought an expensive Penfield rain jacket here a year ago. I was really disappointed when the zipper broke, but this Madewell store graciously replaced it at not cost after determining their seamstress could not fix it. Thankful for great customer service. Thank you, Madewell! read more

The best thing about Madewell, IMHO, is the jewelry. There is some lovely rustic/pretty stuff, from a cuff with a metal bow to a cluster necklace made of black metal and crystals. I do think the items are slightly overpriced for the quality of materials, and the shoes and bags look a little hastily made. I can't comment on the clothes because they did not seem to have anything that would fit anyone but a skinny undergraduate. read more

Great clothes and seem to be well priced for the quality offered. Sales racks do not only have hideous cast offs, so that is great, though they are largely populated by sizes on either end of the spectrum. I agreed with previous commenters that the service was spotty. One very nice helpful girl in there today (wearing flowered pants), 3 other snoots, who became even colder and less helpful when I complained about the cleanliness of the store. "That's just the way it is." said one. Huge turn off. There is a process called "cleaning" and it should be considered a normal part of running a retail establishment. Every light or brightly colored item in the store was marred by streaks of grime. Perhaps the Bellevue iteration maintains higher standards. read more

Normallly, I don't feel compelled to write a positive review about a retail chain store but the University Village Madewell location might just be the exception! I have had a great customer service experience at this location. First, I had a pair of pants I purchased altered and mailed to me b/c I couldn't get back into the store to pick them up (I was very busy around this time)... The gal who helped me on the phone asked her manager if they could just waive the shipping fee for me, which was done... I did not ask specifically for this, they offered it to me. I was really appreciative of that. Then, a slight snafu with the same pair of pants, the button of these pants popped off- I considered this an atypical occurrence in regards to the general quality of their product, so I called & asked what they could do in my case, since I had them altered already. Without question, the salesgirl put my size on hold for an exchange & a complimentary alteration. When I went in to do the exchange, another sales gal helped me and even adjusted the price of the original purchase to reflect the new sales price on my exchanged pair. All these things, they did WITHOUT my prompting or asking! I've never been so impressed with a retail team like that EVER. I have always received friendly service here, but I have to recognize the two standout salesgirls who helped me with these transactions- Caitlyn and Linda. Madewell, feel free to send this review to upper management in your company... I believe these gals & the manager that helped them deserve props! read more

I've been to the University Village location of Madewell a few times and service there is hit or miss to say the least. I went a few weeks ago and had a nice person help me and I ended up getting a few things that I love (and I also should point out that I'm not super skinny and found things to fit!). But then a friend and I were shopping and went in and browsed for about 10 minutes and no one said a word to us. And they weren't particularly busy either - when we entered and left, there was a salesperson standing pretty close to the door that didn't give us a look. I don't know if they try to size you up based on what you're wearing or what, but the time I was helped I was dressed fairly nicely and when I went later with my friend we were in workout clothes, so maybe they assumed we were slobs that wouldn't want anything there. Which was stupid because we were both in the mood to buy something and there were a few things I had my eye on. But if they can't even bother to acknowledge my existence, it doesn't really make me want to give them my money. read more
