It's disturbing. I attempted to speak with an employee about it, but they looked genuinely afraid and refused to say anything. I've heard for years about Hobby Lobby being an unethical corporation that exploits its workers, but I never fully understood until I finally got someone to talk. Employees are reportedly not allowed to have water at their stations, and their scheduled breaks are frequently denied or delayed by over an hour. This is a blatant disregard for employee health and should be illegal. On top of that, employees are often not allowed to leave when their shift is supposed to end. For example, if a cashier's shift ends at 4:00, there is often no relief cashier in the building until that exact time, meaning they cannot step away from their register. Even then, supervisors reportedly require them to stay and recover or restock parts of the store before being allowed to leave. It is not uncommon for someone scheduled from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. -- already an extremely long shift, especially without proper breaks -- to be forced to stay until nearly 9:00 p.m. People deserve lives outside of work. How do you plan time with your spouse when you never know when you'll be allowed to leave? How do you explain to your child that you missed their school recital because your boss forced you to stay under threat of losing your job? This is not a Christian company. This is not a family-friendly company. This is an unethical corporation that should be held accountable for how it treats its employees. Shame on you, Hobby Lobby.

Not only this, but she had taken the same product and started her own line for her business and was selling all of her (Burlap Throw Pillow's) in the same space side by side as the space I was renting. No telling how much profit was made from the pillows actually sold in the store, but they are now sitting on her shelves - a business I clearly stated was 100% dedicated to helping my children with college tuition and a tool to teach them about business. They even loved stuffing the throw pillows themselves. THINK TWICE BEFORE BECOMING A VENDOR. She stole from my family directly. I dropped off 5 watches for the batteries to be fixed, expecting them to get done by the next day which was Saturday. I called Saturday afternoon and no one had started working on them. I finally got them all back on Thursday after having to call and seeing what was taking so long. They let me know that my watch was missing a screw and we're fixing it. When going to Ewings they replace them that day and it takes about 5 - 10 minutes for each one. I just wish there was more communication and there was no dog poop on the mat...I love dogs but when going inside a business, the first thing I do shouldn't have to be going back outside to try and get that off my shoe....

I was met immediately by a seamless and easy jewelry sale experience. I stopped by the shop, apprehensive because I had my kids in tow, but as soon as we walked in, a Tv show was placed on for them to watch. They had a kid-friendly area complete with toys and complimentary drinks. This local shop has thought of everything for customer comfort. I got to speak with John and he even increased his initial estimate, so I walked away with more than expected which was a delight. The real gem was how kindly we were treated (like one of the family)! Everyone was so genuine. I've worked in the customer service industry for 10+ years, and it is evident John and his family really care about their customers. They took my kids behind the counter, handed them a black light they got to use to illuminate some gems, and even let them pick out 2 gems to keep! It was the highlight of their week! When I mentioned they are homeschooled, John said any time if they ever have any questions about gems/rocks to bring them in! Thank you John and Family, you earned customers for life by us. I would recommend stopping by the store for transparent, fair pricing, and outstanding customer service in all jewelry needs.
