I met Michelle about 10 years ago and I thank my lucky stars ever day that I did! I wish I could leave 10 stars for her, one for every year that she has helped me with my eyebrows, waxing and facials! She is the BEST brow artist there is. Just plain and simple, my brows were a total wreck when I first met her. Now they are consistently beautiful and full. She works miracles to get the perfect brow shape for your face. Before I met Michelle mine were thin and a little patchy. She worked very hard to get them back for me. My brows are now full and perfect every day, all because of Michelle! Michelle is an actual eye brow artist. I trust no one but her with my girls and she (literally) never disappoints. I naturally have super unshapely brows. They are both huge and look like they could have come from two completely different homo erectus. With Michelle's ever precise technique, I feel like Cara Delevingne every time I leave her space. I went here a couple of years ago to get my hair dyed completely pink from pink and brown. It turned out pink and yellow and brick red. More upsetting was that the entire back of my $40 shirt had been bleached and dyed pink as well. I was able to get the pink out, but you can't get bleach out. When I returned to get my hair redone, I brought the shirt and was told that the owner said unless I had the receipt for it, I would get no reimbursement for it. I had bought the shirt over 8 months ago, and I don't horde receipts because that's weird. When I asked to speak with the manager, she refused to see me. The stylist redid my hair, putting brown back in it to cover up the weird spots. It wasn't exactly what I wanted, but I still liked it. However, the shirt debacle is enough to have made this the worst experience I have ever had in a salon. read more

The women at Urban Renewal are talented, friendly, and their services are fairly priced. If you need your hair colored and cut, go see Andrea. If you need someone fun to talk to, go see Andrea. If you need someone who is quick and gets the job done fast, go see...eh. Go see someone else. Andrea takes her time and makes sure she does it right - this can be both a blessing and a curse, especially if you're on a schedule. I get my eyebrows shaped by Michelle and she does a spectacular job. The first time I had the shaping done, she followed up the appointment by suggesting I buy a product for my dry skin that cost approximately the GDP of Rwanda, but whatever! I live in Boulder, but drive 40 minutes just to see Michelle once a month for eyebrow waxing. She has the best eye for the best brows. Michelle takes her time (20 minutes!) to make sure your arch is perfect and every hair is perfectly aligned. It takes one perfectionist to know another. BOTTOM LINE: Best brow wax, great haircuts (Andrea rules)! I would highly recommend getting your brows waxed at Urban Renewal. I've been a customer for 5 years! Michelle the owner is SPECTACULAR! She is truly an artisan when it comes to shaping. Michelle also got me started on Dermalogica products, and she is a wizard at skin care. I have had 2 facials performed by Michelle, and both have been great. I have my haircut by Andrea, and she is AMAZING. She has done both regular cuts and a style for me, rocking a cute style for me that I needed for my engagement photo-shoot. I like the more boutique feel you get from this place versus being in a huge salon with a ton of gum poppin stylists. You really feel like you're in a special spot when you visit Urban Renewal. Michelle and the stylists pick out great music, refreshments (hot tea, water, fruit mixes) and a seating area to chill at while you wait for your appointment. Try to park in front of the salon at the meters on Colfax or for free on Marion. Marion is usually all full at the end of the day, but if you're willing to walk a bit, you'll be fine. I mean this is a 10/5. I have been seeing Michelle since I was 21. I am now 44. She is the BEST at eyebrows, lashes, waxing, and facials. I get so many compliments on how she helps my thinning brows and eyelashes look amazing. I do not think I could trust anyone more in my life with my face. She is flexible, funny, understanding and is never trying to sell anything. I will have to fly to see her as I will not let anyone else touch my face. Urban Renewal salon is absolutely wonderful! Not to mention that the price is right! I was in town from Oakland visiting my girlfriend when I finally gave up on trying to grow my hair out (for the 3rd time) She recommended this place to me - so I called to make an appointment first thing Tuesday morning expecting not to get in until later in the week if at all - NOPE! I got an appointment same day - in fact, only 2 hours later. I got to the salon and waited for a few minutes when the receptionist and a few stylists came over apologizing, saying that the stylist who was going to cut my hair just walked out. Instead of canceling my appointment or making me wait until later in the afternoon they got me right in AND not only that but also gave me a free eyebrow shaping! Then came the moment of truth, the haircut. I wear my hair really short - pixy even - so I've only had one other hair cut in 5 years that i've REALLY liked. But my stylist did my hair perfectly - I was really impressed. Then came my least favorite part - paying :-/ Every time I've had my haircut in the last 5 years it has run me at least $60 - But after the first time customer discount my total came to $35 which left me extra money to tip for the fabulous haircut and great service! I'll be moving to Denver in June and there is no doubt that Urban Renewal will be my salon. read more

The friendliest, most talented salon in Denver. I miss Yvonne terribly. I moved away from Denver and though I go to a local salon for my root touch ups and trims, I plan trips home so Yvonne can do my cuts and highlights. Yes, I fly home for hair appointments!! I won't let anyone take more than a quarter inch, but when I see Yvonne she always knows exactly what my insane hair needs. Love love!! Yvonne is amazing. I used to go to Blondie's for cuts/color and they did a good job, but Yvonne is amazing. She cut my hair and made me look and feel like a new person. She also does touch ups for free if you come in a few weeks later for a clean up. She highlighted my hair for the first time yesterday and used gentle products/toner and made it look fantastic. Then when I said I didn't need a style, she made sure to note it on my record and told me to come back in some weekend night and get a style/blow out for free. She ROCKS.
