Since moving here, I've been trying to find a good place to get a Brazilian wax. I looked it up, & this place had a lot of good reviews. Pricing seemed kinda high, but figured I'd give a shot. The receptionist was very friendly & even offered me a mimosa. I've only had soft wax, found out that they use hard wax here, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I've been getting these for over a year now, but I'm gonna be honest,this one kinda hurt more than I was used to. After a strip was ripped off, pressure wasn't applied to the area, so it stung a bit more. It's just what I'm used to & maybe things are done different here. Definitely coming back here!! Had the best experience for my Brazilian wax! The receptionist was friendly & even offered me a mimosa while I waiting their comfy and trendy waiting area - yes please! The waiting area wall is stocked with products galore & candles to smell while you wait. Emily made my Brazilian nerves wash away in an instant. She was chatty, and warm and the whole thing was as painless as it could be.. you're still ripping hairs from your body so some pain should be expected LOL. She was meticulous and made sure to get every last hair. For an experience that can kind of be awkward at first - she made me feel so comfortable and like this was all totally normal! Woo! Extraordinary experience from the moment I walked through the door. They greeted me immediately but didn't make me feel rushed. Even though I was not early they offered me a beverage and asked if I needed to use the washroom. Diane and the person at the front desk were very friendly, engaging and professional. Urban Waxx is about two blocks from my house and I had been growing out the downstairs in anticipation of making an appointment. Work has been super busy, so my guy decided that he would help me do it at home. Needless to say, that was a disaster. So while I was in the shower trying to salvage my poor traumatized lady bits, he called Urban Waxx (Saturday morning) to see if they could squeeze me in and fix it. The receptionist assured him they would take care of me. I saw Lilly, and she was completely fantastic. Super sweet and so very fast. The products she used were apparently created by the owner and boy, let me tell you how amazing that wax felt after using some cheap stuff at home. Also, I would like to add that it's so refreshing talking to an employee that admires and brags about her boss. Way to go, owner!! I'll definitely be back for routine follow ups here. THE OWNER CONTINUES TO HARASS ME AND IS COMBATIVE. STAY AWAY FROM THIS BUSINESS. Customer service is awful. Employees are new and unwelcoming and hung by a set of rules that benefits the company and makes it difficult to be a patron. Won't be coming back and won't recommend to anyone. Bad business practices. I called to make appointments for my daughter Lauren and I for that day and was told we needed to give them a credit card number in case we ever cancel an appointment within a 12 hour time frame from our appointment so they can charge us. The receptionist was really new and unsure of what she was doing as well. She had to ask for assistance several times. Rather than succumb to that rule, I decided to do a walk in appointment. When we walked in, the same untrained receptionist helped us. My daughter was taken in for her appointment while I was outside. She was only visiting for two days. When I returned, I asked said receptionist if I could go in the room with my daughter and she said yes an directed me to the room. When I opened the door to the room, there were a few chairs there. The employee, who most likely is not an aesthetician, asked how old my daughter was. Upon hearing she was 20, she told me I could not be in the room with her. Later I was told (after this review and an offer to refund our money due to bad service and horrible company policies), that only in certain instances are others not let into a room, such as a boyfriend while his girlfriend was getting a Brazilian. Hardly the case here. My daughter was getting waxing on her face. Nevertheless, all these led up to our disappointment and the reason for the initial review. Then, I found out that the actual waxing was really bad, and led me to believe the employee doing the waxing was not properly trained at all. My daughter said she could have and has done, a better job at home. All that was done to her brows was a little wax between them and some trimming. No other shaping, even after my daughter was asked if she liked them and asked for specific waxing. Incidentally, I was in their facility all of 5 minutes, so the owner's attempts to say I was hostile or aggressive, or called anyone names, are baseless. It just did not happen that way. UPDATE: after seeing Shannon's commentary. She really didn't heed my advice and obviously doesn't listen at all. She sits in a room waiting for Yelp reviews to negate because she called me personally on my cell phone the moment I posted it, which is really confrontational and unprofessional. This validated my opinion of her business and it's practices. This kind of ignorance will drive their business to close its doors. Shannon makes lots of assumptions but she doesn't know me. The honest reviews on Yelp or Google, tend to be the perceived negative ones. The good reviews are friends, family and those coerced to write good reviews to balance our the bad ones. I have no ulterior motive to get services for free. Shannon told me she'd refund our money when services were subpar and contrary to her belief, service is not served up with a smile and friendship, or a mimosa. Perhaps it's her intent to have a business that pretends it's a salon that has trained staff and steals money from customers? So employees weren't trained, they weren't overly friendly and hung up on a set of rules that made it unwelcoming. This review is the plain truth, and I suggest Shannon and her business take stock and a hard look in the mirror. Bullying customers to get the reviews you want, are not a way to operate a successful business. read more

Loved it! From the moment I walked in to the moment I left. The decor is very nice, clean, modern. They're very attentive to their customers needs - they offer mimosas, beer, & wine while waiting and the restroom is stocked with women's feminine hygiene products. My wax was done by Diane and she was great. The wax was clean, easy, not too hot, and didn't leave a mess or any marks after. Usually when I get a wax, I want to hide under a baseball cap - but Diane did a great job leaving zero lingering red marks or sticky residue! I was going to give this place four stars just because it's so darn expensive, literally the priciest in town and more expensive than what my sister pays in LA, but I've never walked away with anything less than absolutely stellar service and results. I choose to pay their prices because I like what they offer. This is the only place I've ever gotten a wax, so I have nothing to compare it to. At 28, I was scared and embarrassed and all the women there were so kind and professional. They educate you on what you're getting, your options, and after care. The salon it's spotlessly clean and they offer you a drink upon arrival. They keep a card on file (I'm sure to keep you honest with their cancellation policy) but it makes the payment process a breeze. I also love that you can get essentially same day or next day appointments ALL OF THE TIME if you're not picky about you're esthetician. I've had two ladies, both of whom were excellent though I must say Lily was exceptionally kind. Long story short, you'll pay out the ass if you go here but as someone who is notoriously stingy, I can honestly say you get what you pay for. read more

I love that Urban Waxx is now so close to where I live. I hated having to drive over to Portland and fight traffic. This location is perfect because it's an 8 minute drive. Lily is the best and has been doing my brows for about a year. She is super friendly and I always enjoy my conversations with her. She does a great job doing shaping my brows as well.
