Similar to every other American who has come to Urfa Dürüm, I came here because Anthony Bourdain highly recommended it. It's a Kurdish restaurant in a gritty part of Paris that sells dürüm wraps, which are essentially a Turkish street food made by rolling soft flatbread around grilled meat and fresh vegetables. After a rough first meal in the City of Light that was a €50 half chicken, my soul needed this. Everything is made to order right in front of your face, and it SHOWS. We went with a chicken and a beef durum that ran €9.50, which gave my Chase Sapphire Preferred card a much needed breather. I'm struggling to find adjectives that describe how good this soft flatbread was, and I'm rarely at a loss for words. The best I can come up with is "tangibly fresh." I preferred the beef to the chicken, as it almost melted in your mouth. So damn tender. Whenever anyone asks me for a Paris rec, Urfa Dürüm will be right near the top of my list. Good, quick and very tasty, an Acrobatic display! There are many Mediterranean/kebab places around here but this place caught our eye because you'll a man rolling fresh dough in the front window. He rolls them out, places them in oven and tosses the final product across the restaurant to a colleague who wraps them. Salad, veggies and hot meat is added, wrapped up and hand delivered to you. We came around 4:00pm on a Thursday and this place was empty. We got the Viande Hachee sandwichs kurdes (9,00). It was hands down probably the best wrap ever. The beef was grilled over charcoal. We ate inside and the benches were really low but we enjoyed watching the master do his work. We came because it was on Anthony Bourdain's show once and it did not disappoint. The beef was really smoky and juicy. The wrap itself had some vegetables: tomato and lettuce in it and although there wasn't much sauce, it didn't really need it. When I was living in the 10th, this used to be my favorite place to grab a quick bite. I would always bring people who visited me here because it never disappointed. Don't be discouraged by any lines, it's worth the wait. It was fun to have a local Kurdish place nearby back in 2017. On a long layover, I decided to revisit this spot (in 2022). I was happy to see it survived 2020/21 and was still in the same place with the same warm and delicious smells. Upon walking in, I was greeted by stacks of fresh and yummy smelling bread. I was able to order with what's left of my French (they're kind if you speak English too). I got my go to dish which was the lamb sandwich. Perhaps it was my five years of missing this place, but it wasn't quite as good as I remembered it being. The meat was a lot more tough. However, it was still pretty yummy. It's a very simple meal made with fresh ingredients. It's open late, so it's even better after a night out. read more

This place was amazing ! I kept getting lost trying to use google maps and I know it had to be part of Gods plan for me to find this place ! The smell led me to the restaurant and as I viewed the customers eating a sandwich I knew I had to get one. I thought it was pizza but I was told it was a sandwich and I ordered the lamb. I was doing research about some great places to eat in Paris when I saw Urfa Dürüm. Even after walking for 40ish minutes out of my way to arrive I wasn't disappointed. This joint is small but mighty. There may be about 10 total seats...all outside...and made for kids but oddly comfortable. The staff spoke some English but I made attempts with my poor French. We ordered the lamacun wraps, a beef wrap, and a chicken. It was dinner time so we also got some beer. The total wasn't bad at all landing around 30 euros. Food is made fresh to order. We waited maybe 15 minutes. The spices and meat were so tasty. The lamacun was chefs kiss*. The chicken was okay but I didn't eat it until the next day because we ordered too much. Voted as one of the best cheap eats in Paris, this is a great late night stop after a night out. Stop in to try various sandwiches and lahmacun, if they're available. This was my first experience into Kurdish food and it was a great meal. The food may take some time as they make everything fresh and on the spot. There will be a line when you go. We went on a weeknight and there was a wait. So expect it on a weekend. I got the chicken sandwich and my husband got the lamb. Both were great, my only comment is that they needed a sauce but it was still good without. There is not a lot of seating, so be prepared to stand or sit outside. The bathroom is surprisingly clean, though. It's very affordable! You should try it. read more

What's quite prominent is the bread being freshly made in the oven while your meat is grilled to order. It was good, but it didn't live up to the hype. Try it if you're nearby, but not worth a special trip. Agneau: Tender chunks of lamb with a nice marinated flavor. No sauces, so you end up really focusing on the freshly made bread and veggies. Lines out the door apparantly since its super packed inside. This place serves fresh wraps as you order. It's actually quite fun to see the guy assemble multiple wraps at the same time. The dough had to be my favorite part of the meal; the lavash. It was so fresh and chewy. The only downside to this meal was that the wrap was open on both ends. The juices from the meat were dripping out. It's not the nicest area to check out in Paris but you definately want to make a pit stop here. read more

I trust Anthony Bourdain's food commentary almost unquestionably, so when I saw that this Kurdish food shop was on The Layover, I knew this needed to be on my list. I enjoyed it so much the first time that I went the night after as well! There was a queue when we got there around 7, but the line moves very fast. There are a variety of Kurdish wraps and I have tried both the lamb and lamb liver. The lamb is perfectly juicy!!! I love that they don't rely on any sauces to elevate the meat and instead just use fresh herbs and spices. Every bite gave me mixed emotions: happy it was so good, sad it was one less bite to go before I was done. The second time, I had the liver, which while was good, was slightly more tough and gamey (understandably). I wish they had this in the states! Parisians are so lucky to have this shop. My husband and I walked approximately 2 miles in the rain to get to this place, but it was BEYOND WORTH IT. I wish we had discovered it our first day in France vs. our last, but either way I'm just happy we found it. It provided us with the best meal I ate while in France. I love little hole in the spots like this. I spotted the high reviews on Yelp and that many people mentioned that Anthony Bourdain had ate here on one of his episodes, so with those two points, I knew I had to check this place out. I love the rustic decor with stone walls and the oven in plain sight where they bake your flat bread made to order. The menu is simple; you're getting a durum, a flat bread sandwich with fresh grilled meat (chicken, beef, lamb or liver), with herbs, onions and tomato. They were out of lahmacun, so we missed out on trying that unfortunately. The sandwich is wrapped in foil and served to you. If you're eating in, just help yourself to a seat at one of the tiny tables and stools (it's the same price to eat in which is surprising for Paris). The tiny stool was so comfortable and it actually kept me in great posture. I'd like one for my house! The sandwich itself was very good. My fiance loved it! I thought it was a little dry and could have used a sauce to make it more juicy, but that's not how these are served, so maybe a durum is just not my favorite thing ever. Still, I really enjoyed our experience here and do highly recommend eating here. Do note that they're not huge, so if you're really hungry, this will not satiate you. read more

I've never been exposed to Kurdish food, and likely never will, so this was a must on my trip to Paris. The restaurant is located in the really quaint 10th arr and was packed when we arrived. Although the line moved fairy slowly, they had a method that was really efficient, allowing you to order when you get in line and by the time you were at the front, you paid and we're on your way. There were several tables and. hairs out front and I believe there is space to eat in the back, but I didn't see that. We got the lamb wrap, which was really simple and delicious. The meat was a little fatty for me, but my husband loved it. There was a delicious wood grilled flavor and the bread, which they were making by hand in the front window of the restaurant, was so warm and soft. I'd definitely recommend. read more

It was slightly on the rare side of medium rare, which might be what some people are complaining about, but it was good to me... maybe you could ask for it to be well done if that's not good enough? It's all cooked to order, smells like delicious rendered beef and lamb chargrilled fat in here. I mean you can't ask for much more. You sit on tiny chairs that are oddly comfortable, you're in an arrondissement that feels like non-hipster Brooklyn, pour water out of metal carafe, and thank your gods that you found this place because it might change your life. Get the beef #1! No idea how to pronounce the name, but one of the best kebab sandwiches I've ever had. Granted, I originally though that they would have it available like kebabs on a stick - which is not the case. In L.A. we call these beef Koubidehs, but here - it's just beef. Everyone here speaks French, so please bring a dictionary or have them ask the people in line to help translate - which many will. oh Anthony Bourdain! I would follow you anywhere around the world.... this time you led me to this kebob place on a sketchy street in Paris. I drooled as i watched your eyes roll up in ecstasy as you took bite after bite of Urfa Durum's kebobs in your Paris episode of the Layover. These weren't any kebobs. The bread hand-rolled by the nice lady near the window, the lamb and beef grilled to order. In between mouthfuls of kebob, you raved about Paris' 10th arrondissement - how "hip" and "cool" it was, and how far off the beaten path it was. And so I came to Urfa Durum after a ten dollar taxi ride, and I sat exactly where you sat, and ate my kebob...then crickets. No life revelations or fits of foodie ectasty. The kebobs had a nice smoky flavor from the char-boiled grill and the fresh flat bread was warm and soft. I preferred the lamb over the beef, and the lahmacun over both. The lahmacun is a flat bread with meat baked on top. I experienced a little bit of happiness eating this right out of the oven. read more

Turkish food in Paris may sound strange but honestly, I loved this much better than most of the food we tried in Paris! We ordered two lamb wraps and a lahmacun. Each lamb wrap is made up of three kebabs. It's €8 each. The lahmacun was €2.50. Everything was so heavenly delicious!!! The lahmacun was made into a wrap filled with vegetables. Mmm very refreshing. The lamb wrap on the other hand is on a totally different level! The lamb was tender and juicy, with a fantastic just grilled smokey taste. Given the great reviews of this place, I was so disappointed with my experience here. We waited in line for awhile, but it wasn't bad because we had fun watching the guys make the sandwiches. It was even cool enough to ignore the fact that they made sandwiches for at least 10 people who walked in after us before they made mine. I ordered the lamb sandwich. The one positive of the sandwich was that the flavors of the additional ingredients were pretty clean and fresh. For example, the parsley was fresh and delicious. On the other hand, the lamb was awful. It was filled, and I mean FILLED, with tough, fatty, grissly, nastiness. I literally couldn't chew most of my bites of the sandwich. When you don't put sauce on a sandwich or other dish, the star of the dish (in this case, the lamb), has to be perfect. It has to shine. Here, it was gross. Absolutely awful sandwich. This is by far the best decision of my Paris trip. Like the others, Anthony Bourdain led me here. Even he, himself, was brought here on the show and it was his best decision. I ordered the lamb and for me this meat is either a hit or a miss. I can't stand it being super games. I love this whole in the wall. You can order your durum to go or to eat in their tiny little room and outdoor seats. And you can watch you them prepare your food including rolling out the fresh dough, baking it, grilling the meat (including the hairdryer - don't ask me why), and wrapping it all up. It's such a simple meal, but tastes very good: wrap, lettuce, tomato, onion, cilantro, salt & pepper, + meat. But it goes very well together. I've been to this place twice over the past 2 weeks now. On a recent trip to Paris we visited Urfa Dürüm (thanks to a recommendation from a certain celebrity chef). We both ordered the lamb sandwich which blew us away with the freshness, quality and simplicity of the ingredients. The bread was fresh from the oven which added to the flavours even more. Worth the trip to this place. We tried the lamb, chicken, and beef. All three were great, but I love lamb so that was my favorite. They put a seasoning on that can be pretty spicy for some. Pretty good little kebab operation here on Rue Faubourg/Saint Denis. Everyone has a specific job on the line, pumping out these delicious kurdish sandwiches. One guys job is to hold a hairdryer in the direction of the meat skewers while they sit on the coals. The team communicates well. Ocassionally the system breaks down and the cashier guy ends up yelling at the guy at the other end of the bar. There is a tomato prep/busser in the back that frequently comes out to restock food or do the odd table bus. They are generous to the homeless. I recognized a man riding the metro the day before. He came by and they gave him a sandwich. I recommend the lamb and chicken. The pizza looking dish I could do without. The self serve Dohou yogurt drink at the end of the bar is very good. read more

Nothing against vegetarians, but you shouldn't come into a restaurant with skewers of meat on display and expect good vegetarian food. Everything here is freshly prepared and the grilled meats are amazing. I ordered the grilled lamb and it was super flavorful and juicy. The fresh veggies inside were a perfect compliment to the grilled, meaty flavor. The bread they use is amazing and it's what really makes the meal. Soft with a slight, thin, baked crust on the outside, and not too thick that it overpowers the rest of the food. They prepare them on a large platform in the kitchen and cook them in a wood oven. Location is not so touristy, so don't expect much English to be spoken. The food was really cheap and my only regret was that I didn't try more on the menu! Would definitely come again. read more
