I took her to Dr. Sebunya and he put her on a prescription dog food which completely took care of the problem.

Things did not go entirely as planned which can happen, AND the next day the clinic was experiencing power outage due to elec company cutting power due to high winds in the area. My frantic message was responded to within minutes and a plan made to ensure Riptide got the care, meds, follow through and regimen he needed despite the clinic having to be closed and all the issues they had to deal with, perishable meds etc. Subsequent issues and changes to regimen and scripts were all responded to despite the challenges of no power! They even met me in the darkened building to give needed meds, food and discuss/tweak the regimen, TWICE! No wonder this team gets 5 stars! 5+ stars from me and Riptide too! I have only ever received comparable care when the veterinarian was a close personal friend and I have lamented moving out of state and away from her. The earlier bad reviews astonish me, and all I can come up with is since Blue Pearl took over late…read moresummer 2022, things have changed dramatically in the right direction. Here's our story. We moved from Seattle to Albuquerque June 2022. Our 5-yr old German Shepherd had just been diagnosed with end stage liver disease and had begun needing abdominocenteses, a procedure where accumulated fluid is removed from the abdomen. Every 3-5 weeks, 2-4 liters of fluid would accumulate and have to be removed. We had it done at a Blue Pearl facility in Seattle/Kirkland three times before we moved, and it was very stressful for her until the last time when the vet used a different technique and let me be with her, so we could avoid any sedative or drugs, which is imperative when the liver isn't functioning well. We got to Albuquerque, and the first new patient appt at our chosen clinic was 10 weeks out, and the ERs in ABQ didn't perform this procedure. Since we'd had so much good care at Blue Pearl in Seattle/Kirkland, we searched for a Blue Pearl locally. The closest were Phoenix and Denver. We chose to drive the 8 hrs up to Denver. Because fluid accumulation is unpredictable, we can't always go to our vet in ABQ even now. The procedure takes an hour, so the vet can't fit you in between other appts, so we've had to go to Blue Pearl Lakewood 4 times now. Each time we've seen Dr. Jill Bull, and each time her assistants have been remarkable. All the intake staff and medical staff have been professional, efficient, very compassionate, kind... We've interacted with many different support staff on the phone and in person since last July and have only had good to exceptional experiences with everyone. Dr. Bull is everything I look for in a vet. On our first visit, she listened to our 3 prior experiences with the procedure and agreed to use the other technique that had worked so well for our dog the last time in Seattle. She cared more for our dog's well-being than doing it the "easy" way. Dr. Bull is a fantastic vet. She listens, she considers, she's professional, kind, compassionate, clearly skilled in technique, patient and adaptable to situations as they develop. Because our dog was not sedated, and we had to keep her still for an hour, things changed often, and Dr. Bull and her tech (Bree was beyond fantastic) took all in stride and made everything work well. Our dog was calm, and all has gone very well all 4 times despite different circumstances each time. Our 4th visit was Jan 6, 2023, and Dr. Bull told us she'd recently been made facility director for Blue Pearl Lakewood. Finally, the right person for the right job - she'll still be treating patients, so it's a win-win for all. I hate HMOs, but back in Seattle during COVID, Blue Pearl was the only place that allowed me inside with my dog, which is why I chose them over everyone else. They were super strict with COVID protocol, but they knew you can only give exceptional care if the animal's person is directly involved, not just talking on the phone as they wait for hours in their car in the outside parking lot. I have been deeply pleased with Blue Pearl's clearly putting the animal's welfare over their own convenience, and the ensuing care my dog received at Blue Pearl Kirkland/Seattle was excellent as well as at Blue Pearl Lakewood, CO. I can't say enough good about Blue Pearl, wherever I've gone. Maybe now that they've taken over in Lakewood, the bad reviews will only be about money (ER visits are rarely cheap.) And btw, although the fee is higher at Blue Pearl Lakewood ER for the procedure than at my local vet (not an ER in Albuquerque), it's still very reasonable. (It's half what I was paying at Blue Pearl Seattle.)

It was the best inheritance that I could have asked for as she is by far the most trustworthy, knowledgeable and considerate vet I have ever had. We are thrilled that her and Dr. Etheridge opened Wellshire Animal Hospital in University Hills this past year as it is much closer to us than the clinic she was at for the last 15+ years. When our 14 year old pup started licking his paws compulsively a couple weeks ago, we went to see Dr. Monica at her new clinic. Olive, the receptionist greeted us as if we were old friends of hers, and immediately weighed our dog and got us set up in a room. Maddi, one of the vet techs, immediately came in and took great care of our little boy, who was shaking uncontrollably. She knew just what to do to get him to calm down a bit. When Dr. Monica subsequently examined our pup, she found a tumor between his foot pads on one of his paws. Knowing what our concerns have been in the past in regards to treatment, she went through all of our options and then patiently discussed treatment with us to make sure we were comfortable with how to move forward. We initially decided to treat the tumor naturally by soaking it with epson salt each day, but unfortunately a couple weeks later we were back at the clinic since the tumor had split open. Dr. Monica tried to aspirate it to see if there was a foreign body inside the tumor, but did not find anything. We all mutually concluded that the best thing for our pup would be to surgically remove the tumor. The only problem was that Dr. Etheridge (the surgeon) was going away for a couple months and the next day was her last day at the clinic. It was 6 pm and we were the last patients of the day, however Dr. Monica said that she would discuss our situation further with Dr. Etheridge to see what could be done. An hour later she called to let us know that Dr. Etheridge would fit us in first thing in the morning and get the needed surgery completed. Dr. Etheridge and Brittany, the vet tech, performed the surgery the next morning and took great care of our pup! For a dog that is always terrified of being at the vet, he was very happy. Brittany had spent all day with him and had gone above and beyond to make sure that he was ok. Dr. Monica called us the next day to make sure that all was well, and when we went in for a bandage change a couple days later, we had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Cogswell. Even though we were only there for a bandage change with Brittany, she came in to introduce herself and had studied up on everything that had happened with our pup. She made sure that all of our questions were answered, and then she and Brittany both cleaned up the would and did the rebandaging. Dr. Monica was off that day, but called us the next day just to make sure all was good and to let us know she would be there for his final recheck. The high caliber of care that we received from all the staff at Wellshire Animal Hospital was unparalleled, and we are so thankful to them all!

For six years, when I placed an order with the online pharmacy and the prescription needed to be renewed, they would fax the request to Elk Meadow to get it updated. The new team comes in and gets rid of the fax (don't blame them for removing old technology), but they don't notify us they changed the process. Because Flovent has to come from other countries, it takes 3-6 weeks to get here. Three weeks pass from when I placed my order, and I decide to check the status. It hasn't shipped because the prescription hasn't been renewed! I call Elk Meadow and and ask if they received the fax. This is when I learned they removed the fax machine. I told them it was urgent for me to get the prescription because I'm almost out, and it takes 3-6 weeks. I'm put on hold... she comes back and tells me I need to have the online pharmacy call them. I told her I've worked with this pharmacy for 15 years, and they are not going to call. So I asked her to send the prescription to me (the same prescription Elk Meadow has given for 6 years), and was told no. They were not going to send the prescription until the pharmacy called. I told her I wanted a call from Dr Brian by end of business so I could get it ordered. The lady I was speaking with was rude and not helpful, and Dr Brian never called. This is on a Friday, now nothing can happen until Monday. These people don't give a rats a$$ about animals! I would stay away! I've already setup an appointment to meet with another Vet. When I called Elk Meadow they said, probably another treatment like last time, she'd need to be anesthetized etc so I was prepared for another $300 or so fee with included medications like last time. First, I was taken in with her to a room right on time and Dr. Kurtz was in right away. He took a look and said, not so bad, we can just clean it up, clip what's left of the nail back a bit and, good to go! With pain and antibiotic pills, barely over $100.00 - he could easily have gone for the full treatment like last time, tripling the bill, but of course he did not. We have many vets much closer to home, but for years now have driven up to Bergen Park and Elk Meadow Animal Hospital for a uniformly great experience with a doctor and staff we trust completely. As always, 'highly recommend'!
