We took our dog, Sugar, for treatment, but she unfortunately passed away a short time later. The Alford Avenue Veterinary staff's compassion during this time was remarkable. It left a lasting impression on our family and we will be long time customers from now on.

They seldom call you back when they are supposed to (to let you know your pet or medications is/are ready for pick-up), and trying to get one of the veterinarians to call you back is next to impossible (unless you keep on top of the staff). On top of that many of them lack simple customer service etiquette when it comes to dealing with the public (and are frequently rude over the phone). We recently dropped one of our dogs off to be looked at, only to have her catch kennel cough (and spread it to our other, older dog). When we mentioned this to the vet, we were told, "Yes, we had a dog in our kennels that was infected the day you dropped off your dog, and she was exposed to it." When we asked why we were not informed before dropping her off or told afterward that she had been exposed, the front desk worker got irritable and defensive, saying it wasn't the vet's fault (all they had to do was tell us they had a case of it and we would have asked for an in-car visit instead). Overall the quality of Alford Avenue Veterinary Hospital has gone downhill of late, and I think the main reason for this is the support staff. We have decided to move our dogs to another veterinary clinic for treatment (and we got attitude from the veterinarian at Alford Avenue when we told her the reason for our decision to go to a different vet). We will not be returning.

This most recent visit was a combo to deal with an apparent injury as well as do a checkup and get shots. I called requesting to come as soon as they could see us and since it was so late in the day expected I would have to drop him off so they could see him the next morning. However, they were able to see him as soon as we could get there. They did a great job making him feel warm and comfortable even though he was snarling at them (at first). The vet came out and told me how he was after they finished his procedure and told me what to expect as far as timing and what they were doing and waiting on. He has always come home happy after boarding as well. They have big talking birds in the waiting room so that's kind of interesting.

Overall the people are extremely friendly. The facility seems nice. But all we can really see is the main lobby. As pet parents boarding our dog for the first time, we had a TON of questions. Probably a little more than they were used to. But even asking a lot of our questions, we were still very much up in the air on a lot of details. The first time she stayed, she came home and it seemed like she hadn't gone to bathroom at all. We asked about this and they suggested a solution for the next time. It seemed to work better the next go round. But we still feel like there was a big mystery behind what goes on while she is there. Maybe not intentionally. And maybe we are way too inquisitive. But we have found some other places are a lot more invested in helping us have a full understanding and taking the time to answer every nit-picky question we have. I would definitely recommend this place with a nice, friendly staff. But it may not be our number one pick in town.

We moved from Tennessee 8 years ago and were very stressed about finding a vet. Dr. Dieguez and his team have unfortunately seen a lot of Ziggy, Vince and now Grover. This weekend Ziggy our black lab became very sick and I took him late that day where Dr. Linstromberg examined him and gave him barium concerned about an obstruction. Dr. Dieguez came in earlier than planned the following Saturday morning to check on him and planned an exploration (which Ziggy had had before for a corn cob). He had the vet tech take him out right before the surgery and out came what we think was obstructing. Dr. D. had called and texted me that morning and he came up with a plan to watch him all day and come back in that afternoon. Very long story short, that evening he let us come pick Ziggy up to watch him closely at home. Ziggy is doing great with no surgery. Dr. D. and Dr. L. are very knowledgeable and caring vets. The extra care that Ziggy and his staff gave, was over and beyond.

My experience with this place was extremely disappointing. Customers are treated like nothing more…read morethan dollar signs, with no genuine care or honesty in their service. The staff's attitude was unprofessional and dismissive. The environment itself was unclean, and more importantly, there was a clear lack of proper care for animals. I left my dog with them, and he stayed there for more than one night. During that time, they failed to even provide basic feeding, which is completely unacceptable. On top of that, when my dog needed treatment for a leg infection, they refused to provide care unless I paid over $500 for additional services and vaccines that were unnecessary, as my dog was already fully vaccinated. Despite this, they still charged me money while providing no real service. Overall, this place lacks honesty, professionalism, and basic responsibility. I would not recommend it to anyone.

I had taken my cat in that I had found in my apartment parking lot. While I was there they said she was pregnant. We took her home and a couple weeks later she started bleeding. I thought this was normal as she could have been going into labor. After a couple days of her bleeding I figured this was abnormal so I took her back to Red Mountain Animal clinic on October 3rd. This visit they told me she was never pregnant and now has developed a life threatening infection in her uterus called pyometra. If I did not spend $2,000 for a surgery right then and there they said she would die. As a college student I do not have that kind of money. So I left thinking my cat was going to die. I ended up taking her to a spay clinic and got a second opinion. They told me she never had pyometra and she was never pregnant. She was simply in heat. Red Mountain Animal Clinic charged me $600 in total for an unethical service expecting to get $2,000 out of me. I have called them asking for a refund from the visits where they told me she had pyomtra and they have refused.
