I asked the dr if he looked at the history that was provided to which he said yes. come to find out that it was only for one not the other one. I provided this information twice and it still wasn't considered. I made it clear before the appointment that I did not want any shots to be done early and since no one bothered to review one of my babies history then they did. it doesn't hurt them no, but I painstakingly for years offset their shots little by little to ensure it was spread out for financial reason. and all that effort was taken away due to squeezing us in from an office failure and failing to review the history and requests of me urging them to only give shots that are currently due. now they are on the same shot schedule bc one was given shots they didn't need several months sooner than what was needed. 2/10

A week before the appointment Cassandra called me and asked to change the appointment to the next day. I had no problem with the date change, and we went over the procedure again and the cost. Once again, it was $160 which did not include extractions or meds. During this conversation I was told to fill out the forms on-line and if I needed help to call. As it happens I needed help with the forms so I called Blue Starr. This time it was Rachel who answered the phone and I asked her a question. She didn't have an answer and said she needed to ask someone else. Rachel had thought she had put me on hold but she didn't. As I listened on the phone I can hear her mocking and making fun of me for needing help. After listening to this I said "I can hear you" and immediately I was put on hold. Ashley came back on the line and apologize for her co-worker. I was very upset and couldn't understand why someone would act that way. Extremely unprofessional. I talked to Cassandra about this and she helped me get the forms submitted. She then emailed me a price sheet. However, on the price the cleaning price had jumped to $220, so I called emmediately. Cassandra explain due to inflation the prices have gone up which I understand, but they needed to honor their original quote. At first she said she will talk to the Vet and than she said she will make the decision to honor what I was first quoted. The day after the procedures I look at the bill which was over $1100, and noticed they didn't honor the original quote for the cleanings. I called and talked to Cassandra. Funny that now she doesn't remember having any conversations with me and basically told me I was lying. THREE times I went over the price and now she just happens to lose her memory. She put the vet on and I had to explain that the only charge I am questioning is for the cleaning. I was quoted $160 three separate times and she thinks I misunderstood? Ludicrous! First, I endure a nasty employee and now they refuse to honor what they quoted me THREE times! They have now lost another customer for all of the GRAND TOTAL of $30. I have had animals all my life and have never come across a vets office this disorganize, nor have I ever been treated with such disrespect. Anyone who still decides to go to Blue Starr make sure you record everything and I do mean everything to protect yourself.

My daughter stated that when she dropped her off that morning around 8:00am she was fine, her normal 13 year old self. Walking, riding in the car, looking out the window, and breathing normal. Her dog was scheduled to get her rabies shot, a bath, and nail trim. During her time there the staff told my daughter that she needed her ears cleaned. She said ok, do it. When she picked her up she was told that they had to have several people hold her down to trim her nails. I'm sure that was also true about cleaning her ears as she hasn't had that done often. When her dog was walking to the car after being there she walked very sluggish kind of like she was drunk. She asked if they gave her anything to make her feel/act like that. They said no. She couldn't jump on the back of the car like she did on her way there. My daughter had to pick her 83lb dog up and put her in the back of her SUV. She drove home, with her whining with every bump the car hit. My daughter had her husband look at her, he said she's not good and to take her back to the vet. So that's what she did. The vet came out and looked at the dog, and kept telling her she's just old and this maybe the end just to take her home and see how she does. He padded her on the back and said I'm sorry. He did suggest a couple things like give her electrolytes. I was on the phone listening to their entire conversation. She asked if there was anything they could give her to help her. He said well we can take her back in and draw blood and see what's wrong, but that's going to cost more money. (WHAT?!??) My thoughts were you guys did this to her dog, and that's what you tell my daughter, either pay more money to figure out what YOUR CLINIC did to my daughters dog, or take her home and see if she lives or dies. Well not really knowing what to do she took her home, tried to give her electrolytes, because that's one thing the vet did say to try. She was so upset that my husband and I went over there. Her dog was literally laying on the floor on her side breathing very deep and slow like she was going to die any second. We managed to get a few syringes of Gatorade in her, and she wouldn't take any more. She wouldn't eat anything. I read online that if we couldn't get her to eat and drink she would definitely die, so we continued to try, and she wouldn't. Thank God we have my other daughter who works at a different clinic in a different town, and I called her to get her opinion, she said she definitely need fluids, so she came over and gave her a bag of fluids. Along with that my daughter called Ark clinic back and just gave them an ear full, after that call they told her they would give her 2 meds for her for free. She got the meds and after she saw that she was doing a little better after receiving the bag of fluids she gave her the meds. It took her 3 days to come back from the vet visit at Ark. I normally only write reviews if they are positive, but this is something others need to know if they have an older dog. Older dogs can't endure having a lot done to them like the younger dogs can. It totally stressed my daughter's dog out so bad that if she hadn't been given that bag of fluids, we would have lost her, all because of a vet visit that was supposed to help her.

I had a very disappointing experience with Dr. Gilsleider at Claremore Animal Hospital…read more I called the after hours emergency line because our new bottle calf had collapsed, had gray, tacky gums, was weak, lethargic, wouldn't drink, and couldn't stand. As a first-time bottle calf owner, I was scared and called for professional guidance. While Dr. Gilsleider offered a few suggestions, I had no experience with bottle calves and needed someone willing to explain and help. Instead, he was condescending, rude, and made me feel like an idiot for even bringing the calf home. After that conversation, I called Pryor Veterinary Hospital and spoke with Dr. Messersmith, who was compassionate, came to our house, performed a thorough exam, and determined our calf had a severe congenital heart murmur. She explained that euthanasia was the most humane option to prevent further suffering. I'm grateful I sought a second opinion. Had I relied solely on the advice I received from Dr. Gilsleider, our calf likely would have continued to suffer unnecessarily. No one calling an emergency veterinary line should be made to feel small for asking for help.

The surgery was explained in full detail, we were shown x-rays, and the procedure was completed the same day. When we picked her up that afternoon we were shown the after x-rays, given an explanation of how the procedure went, and given a plan for recovery. We were treated very well by the doctor and his staff, questions answered without feeling rushed and able to reach them by phone even afterwards. Our dog has recovered beautifully and we are so grateful to them for their service and care of our dog. We feel we received top notch service.

I think they just call a crematorium to pick the pets up and add their fee to what the crematorium charges them. Angel's is also a lot more comforting. It was a sad day having to let go of a family member. I think it was easier going through a professional pet funeral service.
