I came here the first time because my friend needed to get his suit pants hemmed and he found Ursula's through Yelp. I went with him to drop off the pants, and he liked the finished product. Recently, my boyfriend needed suit pants to be shortened and hemmed for a wedding.... later that day, and he decided to go here as well because of our friend's experience. We called and the lady said she could hem the pants, even though it was such short notice. We dropped the pants off at 12 noon, and she called us back at 1:30 pm to tell us the pants were finished. They do not take credit card, CASH ONLY! But she only charged $12 for the alteration. Fast, easy service! Parking for the building is definitely a pain because there is never any open spots, and the spaces that are there are impossibly tiny. did not alter the item: i brought in a simple request to take in the legs of a larger size for me flowy pant style. i brought in a perfect size sample pants to do as the fit is perfect. identical style/ easy sample to leave with her. she says she did not need the other pant. 8 days later i pick up the pants for $35.00. i noticed on the hanger it did not look as if anything was altered. i brought it back and her "assistant" who does not speak english! did not understand. came back in again today and ursula claimed i was rude to assistant. they did not do the work! i told her so and instead of being honest and apologizing for that fact, she promptly refunded me. i went to another alteration business and they charge only $18.00 which was nearly half the price! read marilyn's review regarding price gauging below 2 months ago.....never again! read more

I cannot believe this place. I actually found this place through yelp and trusted that they would do a good job because of the reviews I saw. Well here is the truth....they are absolutely horrible!!! I had a brand-new uniform to be hemmed and my husband had a uniform needed a patch sawed on. My uniform was not shortened enough like I asked and my husband's patch was sawed on terribly. When we picked up my uniform the second time after asking it to be hemmed shorter, the owner lady said very bluntly "Here. My employee said she shortened like you asked the first time. I am not doing it again for free." and just walked away. Then we realized my brand new uniform had all the yellow stains and white lines all over. So I called her again saying that we noticed some stains that had never been there before. That very moment, she snapped and yelled "Are you kidding me!? We don't eat lunch when we are working." Well lady, I never said you eat lunch over my clothes but you just confirmed you did. I ended up washing my uniform, ironing it and all that. The owner lady does not even work on any clothes herself. She lets her unskilled employee do alteration and everything came out horrible for us. She is very snappy and unprofessional. Don't go here unless you wish to get ripped off! Brought in a bridesmaid dress to be altered. Standard stuff: strap shortening, take in bodice, and hem up the length. I was not given an estimate at time of drop off because she was chatting it up with a friend/client that was there at the same time. I was barely spoken to the entire time I was there. I returned two weeks later and admittedly the dress fit very well. However when it came time to pay I was charged $180! When I tried to dispute she got very defensive and argumentative. Seeing as how I needed the dress and couldn't just leave without it, I paid the amount I was told and left her shop. Upon checking my receipt that I had her text to me, I was actually charged $192.70 (labor tax?)! The alteration services actually cost most than the dress itself at this point. After speaking with other bridesmaids who also had to have their dresses altered at other shops (due to living elsewhere), they paid significantly less and had more alterations done to their dresses than what I had done to mine. Never again will I return to Ursula's for her services. I was treated as an inconvenience and overcharged ridiculously so. This was the worst experience I've ever had with a business! The owner is the rudest and most unprofessional person! I brought her a bridesmaid dress to alter. I scheduled a day two weeks later to pick it up. When I arrived that day she was immediately in a panic and said she wasn't done with it yet and needed another half hour. I quickly realized a half hour later when she called to say I can pick it up that she hadn't even started it yet until then. I was actually pulling in the parking lot when she called. She sent out her poor employee who just handed me the dress and I had to ask to try it on. Omg it was horrible! The top still didn't fit. The dress wasn't only to short but so uneven I could tell even when it was hanging on the hanger. The employee said she would go get the owner to look at it. She came back seconds later and told me she was not there. For several days I tried calling her and she wouldn't get on the phone. Eventually I got lucky and she was the one that answered. She told me she had fixed the dress. When I went back (now the 4th time) she said nothing to me. Went in back to get the dress. And sent her poor employee out again while she hid in the back. Still to short. Still very noticeably uneven. Top not altered even close to right. And she still leaves her employee to try to convince me it's fine. $80 later and I have to pay someone to try to fix it even though she cut the bottom to the point it can't be taken back down. This place is awesome. I have tried a number of so called "tailors", but none have come close to Ursula's Alterations. Her work is impeccable, and she truly cares about the customer. I've taken several items there that needed to be done in a hurry. These people got the job done. Not only did they do it, but they did it extremely well. I showed up again with two more dresses. One was a ribbon layer dress that was a size too big. She took the entire thing in at the back zipper so it wouldn't affect the layering of the dress. The second was a cocktail dress that had ribbon roses all over it. I needed the shoulders taken in. Ursula recommended some darts at the bust to prevent gaps. Both were worn for family wedding, fit beautifully and I again revived numerous compliments. Ursula was always friendly, efficient, and knowledgeable. All work was professional and completely not noticeable. Unless you were told, you would have no clue any alterations were done to the dresses. That's the true test of good alterations!
