They go out of their way to make each birthday special , one aid braids the girls hairs, they are ALWAYS patient, the kids seem to feel relaxed here and not stressed as I've seen at other preschools. No chaos, they have structure , sing, learn , dance, play all in a calm and fun environment.

OMC Preschool & Kindergarten is not the first preschool/daycare that my daughter has attended in…read morektown. As of today, my older daughter has been here for 2 years and my younger one 1 year. The 1st daycare that my daughter went to is a bit scary. There was no security guard at the front entrance. During the 1st week of me picking her up, she ran out of school by herself and the teachers didn't even notice that she left the building until I brought her back in to pick up her bookbag. Here at OMC Preschool/Kindergarten, they have security guards 24/7 around the campus. The 1st person that greets me every day as I pulled in to the parking lot is a security guard. Maybe it's just me, but security is an important issue that every preschool should address. Along with the security guard, there are several other maintenance/cleaning personnel working @ Church during school hours. The Preschool is separated from the church. You have to walk through the sanctuary to get to the preschool. On to the best part about this daycare, the teachers are extremely loving and caring to all of the kids. On top of that, unlike the previous daycare that my older daughter attended, all the parents here would say hi and greet each other. I'm not Korean and I love the fact that other Korean parents that are not fluent in English would still try and converse with me. Bottom line, my wife and I have done our due diligence in finding the best daycare for our little ones. Unfortunately, we had to go through the process twice. To all the parents out there that are looking for a daycare in or near the ktown area, this is it. I don't know any other daycare that is able to drop their kids off at 7:30 AM and pick up their kids as late as 6:00 without any extra charges/penalties. Not that my kids are there from 7:30 AM to 6:00 pm but we do live in LA and we all know that LA traffic can be unpredictable.

I started my daughter here a year ago and she's also been thriving. By this point, the staff here feel like a part of my extended family. They have been so good to my children. Some updates on basic info: - open now from 8am to 6pm - as of Sept 2016 tutition is $1100 (extra $100 if not potty trained) -phone number listed is wrong. correct number: 213-674-7281 When my daughter started preschool last summer, she was 2.5 yo and did not really speak any Korean. She understood some but would always speak in English to us. After 3 months of preschool she was so fluent! And now a year later, she sounds like she belongs in a K-drama. ;) I find this so amazing because at home our predominant language is English (my hubs is not Korean). Something else I didn't mention in the previous review is their summer programming. They always do fun themes in the summer. For example, water fun week -- water slides, playing in "rain" with umbrellas, playing in kiddie pools. They also had world travel week where they "visited" different countries around the world. The teachers actually made little passports (that looked pretty real and must have taken a lot of effort to make!) and air plane boarding passes to these different countries. They made cuisine from the different countries for students to try and would stamp their passports as they "visited" each place. (FYI -- Summer is not the only time they do fun stuff like this.) One year they took the kids "camping"...in their play yard. They pitched tents and made s'mores. The kids had such a blast! The staff really tries hard to make school fun for the kids and I love them for trying so hard. It's now been 4 years since I first sent my son here and now I am on my second kid who is on her second year here and I definitely still recommend it to everyone who messages me to ask about preschools.

We initially toured many different daycare schools around koreatown but decided on Kinderschule because of Director Kim. Her words gave us a sense of trust that even our baby who cries around new people and is very picky with food will adjust to school with no problem and to trust their process. Those are the words I wanted to hear from any teacher at school. I loved that they sent home pictures with a daily journal of how many diapers and how much they ate. Of course my baby didn't eat the gourmet korean food right away but he soon got adjusted and ate korean soup with rice and side dishes along with his friends. It took Hayden 4 months to really separate from us and wave bye to us when we dropped him off but in this whole process all the teachers have been so patient and so understanding. I loved the curriculum they have at this school which is one of the reasons why we chose Kinderschule. From cooking class to kuku gym class. All their activities are hands on and so creative. I really wanted my baby to experience and join in on the activities. The field trips are also something I liked about their curriculum. My son loved talking about the activities he did at school. It has been a full year and we are sad to leave such an amazing school because we are moving but I can't say enough good things about this amazing school and staff and would definitely recommend it to any mamas in LA looking for a trustworthy school. My son has grown so much since attending. His personality and speaking and interacting with peers are exactly what we were expecting from attending this school and he even learned some Spanish too! Great afterschool…read more Average Daily Schedule: Picks up students from Melrose, Third Street, and Hancock Park. Teachers help with homework to get it finished quickly and correctly. After their homework, students work on math, ELA, or science packets that prepare them for either the year ahead or, in the upper grades more than a year ahead. After a few hours of packets, they get a small snack provided by New Vision and 30 minutes of playtime before going back to the packets. You can pick your children up anytime you want before 6:00. Summer/Winter/Holiday Full Day: During summer/winter breaks (or on non-major holidays on which school is off), New Vision is also open for a full-day schedule. They have some playtime before going inside to do packets and sometimes an optional art, basketball, or theater class. After about 2 hours of packets, they have lunch which is provided by New Vision. After lunch, they have some playtime and go back in for a math or English class with one of the instructors. They have another short break and they have the English class if they had a math class or math if they had an English class. Lastly, they have snack time where your child can eat any packed snacks before going out for playtime where you should pick your child up by 6:00. During the summer, New Vision also has special events for the kids like a water fun day, a bouncy house day, and a field trip day on some Fridays. Disadvantages: The only disadvantage that I know of is that it only covers elementary school. It goes from K-5, but they don't support help with grades over 5th grade. Conclusion: New Vision is an amazing afterschool for kids who want advanced studies, parents who don't have enough time to pick up their kids from school, or if your child is struggling with homework or work in class. In fifth grade, it also helps students prepare for good middle schools such as IHP Walter Reed, Immaculate Heart, and Science Academy meaning that students will be prepared for advanced studies in middle school as well.

Unlike some of the other schools that felt busy or cluttered, this preschool was incredibly clean, well-organized, and truly felt like a place focused on learning. What really convinced me was the director's philosophy. She believes that children learn best through a wide variety of experiences, and that was something I strongly agreed with as a parent. My daughter has now spent the last three years here, and I couldn't be more grateful. She has been surrounded by caring teachers who genuinely love and support the children. Watching her grow into a confident, curious, and kind little girl has been the greatest gift, and I truly believe this school played a huge part in that. One of my favorite things about this preschool is how many opportunities they give the children to grow outside of the classroom. They host wonderful performances for families, such as the Mother's Day and Christmas performances. It's amazing to see how much confidence the children gain by performing on stage in front of their families. They also go on field trips every other month, giving the children opportunities to explore new places and learn through real-life experiences. Our family is in our ninth year at St. Brendan School and it's been wonderful. From the time they…read morewere little through having an 8th grader, our kids have thrived, gaining solid academic preparation, well-rounded interests, and a sense of belonging to a warm, welcoming, and active community.   The teachers at St. Brendan are terrific at all levels, starting with the expert Kinder teacher who helped set up one wiggly five-year-old for success and taught another to love reading over Zoom in COVID, all the way through Middle School teachers leading sophisticated discussions of novels and social issues and shepherding kids though high school applications.  When our kids have needed support, the teachers and the Principal, Mrs. Young, have been there and all along, our kids have been seen for who they are, cared for, and championed.  I also love that as a Catholic school, discussions around service and social justice are integrated into daily learning; our family is Catholic but many St. Brendan families aren't and the focus is largely on common values. St. Brendan also offers a wide range of opportunities for kids to learn teamwork and leadership and to expand their horizons, from successful but inclusive sports teams, to a spring musical that levels up every year, to a popular scouts program, and lots more.  The art program at St. Brendan is a standout; all grades have class weekly and the students make some truly remarkable pieces. That said, what really makes St. Brendan unique is the emphasis on togetherness and community.  The older kids look out for the little ones, with each upper grade student assigned a little buddy they spend time with throughout the year, helping our middle schoolers stay playful while learning responsibility.  Every family contributes service hours to the school, meaning parents are highly invested and present every day.  Our collective efforts add to the offerings for the kids and in the process, we've gained wonderful friendships and a sense of belonging.  I can honestly say there is always something fun happening at St. Brendan! As we start to look to the next chapter, we couldn't be happier to have found this amazing school.

Our Experience at This School - A Deep Disappointment…read more We enrolled our son at this private Catholic school with high hopes, trusting in its mission to protect and nurture the children of God. Unfortunately, our experience was deeply disappointing and concerning. This situation happened approximately one year ago, and as parents, we were devastated. It took us a long time to fully process everything that happened--not because we didn't care, but because our top priority was always to protect our son and make sure he was emotionally safe. The pain caused by what happened didn't affect only him--it hurt us deeply as his parents and family. We had to rely on loved ones for emotional support to cope. Now, after time and reflection, we feel able to speak about it because this should never happen again. When our son faced conflict with other students, the school's response was troubling. Instead of fairness and compassion, his teacher reacted with harshness. Her behavior was relentless and cruel toward a 12-year-old child. That conduct was inappropriate and did not reflect Catholic values of safety and respect. As a teacher, her role should have been to guide and support students--not judge or take sides. She clearly took sides, damaging the trust our son had placed in her. He initially felt safe and confident but felt betrayed. She never tried to talk with him about what happened or gave him a chance to explain himself. We were also disturbed when the teacher held a private conversation with our son without informing us. That happened during questionable disciplinary action, which we found unacceptable. We are concerned she held a personal grudge against him--something no school should allow. No child should feel singled out or intimidated by a teacher. It became clear she did not want our son in her class or at the school. She bullied him and damaged his self-worth so deeply we worried for his mental health. He no longer felt safe; he felt scared, anxious, and uncomfortable. He feared constant judgment, which made learning impossible. We also saw a divide between students who started young and those who joined later. New students were not treated equally or supported fully. This extended to extracurriculars--our son was excluded from sports for lacking experience, which left him isolated and discouraged. Eventually, we had to enroll our son in a new school. Transitioning to middle school was hard enough; being pushed out of a school he loved made it even harder. The school should be ashamed of how this was handled. No one stood up for him, and a teacher abused his trust and undermined his success. The school claims to follow Christ's example and hold high moral standards. That should include compassion, protection, and forgiveness. But these values were only words, not reflected in actions. The school failed to protect our son and allowed personal biases to guide decisions. Because of all this, we made the difficult decision to withdraw our son immediately. It was heartbreaking, but we no longer believed he was safe in that environment. We hope the school reflects and makes changes to prevent other children from suffering similarly. Based on our experience, we cannot recommend this school--especially for students entering in later grades.
