Today they had…read morea managers special with tongs on a hook, a full rack of tongues on a hook marked with the price that was a manager special, when it rang up, of course that was not what the manager special was, and the person at the register claimed "someone was trying to pull a fast one". When shown it was a whole rack that was clearly labeled according to the employee mislabeled probably by one of their customers and they would not honor their mislabeling. Everything seems to be slightly overpriced for what you get and the attitude of the workers is one that is more concerned about their rules and their policies of how they ring things up versus serving their customers. They are perpetually correcting customers who tried to put a couple of items on the stainless steel counter for them to ring up. No, you have to leave them in your cart and they have to move them and they're really quick to correct you and not in a nice way. If this is the only place you can get these items and fine, but there's got to be a better place. I imagine I'll be shopping online after this latest experience. They have driven me out of their store for the last time.

On this trip, we were also trying to keep our everyday costs down while traveling. We're staying in an Airbnb that has a coffee maker and provides basic coffee, but we prefer flavored coffees. From past visits, we knew that US Foods Chef'Store carries an impressive selection of coffee syrups, with far more variety than you'd typically find at a regular grocery store. Rather than spending $5 to $7 each day on coffee while out and about, we planned ahead and stopped in to pick up a bottle of syrup to use during our stay. It turned out to be a simple and cost-effective solution. The store was easy to get in and out of, and the only real challenge was narrowing down our choice from the many different syrup flavors and brands available. Overall, this stop was quick, efficient, and exactly what we needed. Much to my dismay, my employee returned with the same exact can opener I had paid $40 for on Amazon that didn't work. It did at least open a few cans, although the gear slips constantly and you have to turn the can manually for it to work. I know it's just a can opener, but the fact that they charged almost three times the price for it, coupled with the fact that they would even stock such a terrible piece of equipment has made me decide that I really don't want anything to do with Salem Restaurant Equipment. Oh, and FYI, SRE, if you're reading this, I paid a professional to install it exactly as the instructions said. No excuses.

I usually browse through here after I have been to Pacifica candle warehouse across the street. I'm impressed by their selection, and they're helpful. My nephew wanted an extra large cutting board. I wasn't able to find what he was looking for anywhere else, but they had just what he wanted, and it was less than the smaller boards I was looking at. I buy a lot of bulk items for meal prep- things like oats, flour, beans, rice, vegetables, etc. The prices here are awesome; in store, you'll pay about $2 a pound for oats (store brand) but here it's $1 for Bob's Red Mill organic oats. Same deal for other dry shelf goods- as someone getting into cheaper meal prepping, this really is the place to go for such deals. The store itself is very basic- concrete floors, high shelving, barebones customer service. It is meant for business customers but I come here for my house- they also carry industrial/commercial strength cleaners, kitchen equipment and janitorial supplies. They don't carry electronics, entertainment, prepackaged meals, clothing or anything else of that sort. I don't mind though- I just go elsewhere for those types of items. Depending on what you value, I'd say it is definitely worth coming to this store either as a business owner or individual.
