I like honest car sales people…read more And from our latest car buying excursion, we continue to find them rare. For example, one of the other car dealerships prevented us from taking the car to an independent mechanic! You know they were hiding something with the car. Anyway, not only did Texas Cars Direct let us take the car to an independent mechanic, they were professional, not pushy like some of the other guys we dealt with, and easy to do business with. Mike, it was a pleasure doing business with you. Thank you for selling us the newest car in our company fleet! P.S. If you come across a clean, unmolested 1990 to 1993 Mustang convertible, give me a call!

I purchased a Ford F250 from TexasCarsDirect back in September. I flew in from Chicago to pick up…read morethe truck. Upon arriving and meeting with David Urby, I took the truck for a test drive. There was some minor issues but the most glaring was the check engine light. David said the issues would be taken care of, go to lunch and come back in a couple of hours. He called me and said they needed a part that would not be there until Monday. David paid for my flight home and said the truck would be shipped to me. I received the truck late the next week. When driving from where I received the truck, the check engine light came on. I notified him of this issue and he said to have it fixed locally and he would reimburse me. It has been several months and many texts and calls and still no reimbursement. Up until this point, David lived up to his word but I am extremely disappointed to have to write a partial negative review due to not receiving this promised reimbursement. In addition, the check engine issue took two times to resolve, the second requiring an additional cost which I decided to absorb thinking I would get the promised reimbursement. In closing, David did live up to his word on everything until this reimbursement issue so I can't give a 5 star review due to this

Even though they may try to convince us otherwise, property tax protest companies are not our…read morefriends. They don't just WANT but NEED our property values and taxes to go up year after year in order to profit. Of course they aren't directly to blame for those increases but they certainly capitalize on them. They start with the assumption that your property value (and most likely taxes) will always be 10% higher than the year before based on the homestead cap. If they manage to get your appraised value anything below that 10%, they charge a fee on the tax "savings". That means that they aren't necessarily trying to lower your taxes from the previous year (although that would make more sense). What they consider a success, and worthy of payment, is merely shaving a little off that 10% maximum. I also want to point out that their 50% fee is the highest I've seen out of all of the tax protest companies out there. After having used these types of services for a while, it has become clear that they don't actually do anything that homeowners couldn't do themselves, despite their claims that they're more effective. In fact, they seem to get less of a reduction because they are handling many, many protests all at once. For those reasons, O'Connor was a one and done for me.

I've used O'Connor & Associates for several years, hoping their "property tax reduction experts"…read morewould eventually deliver meaningful results. Unfortunately, the reductions have consistently been negligible -- usually less than one percent, despite the hours I spend gathering photos, documenting issues around my home, and preparing detailed evidence for them. This year was the breaking point. After expressing that we would not continue using their services without a better outcome, I reluctantly signed their agreement authorizing them to request and participate in a formal hearing on my behalf. I did my part -- again -- providing everything they asked for. A week ago, I received a letter from the county appraisal review board stating that the hearing scheduled for July 28, 2026 was not conducted because the representative from O'Connor & Associates: Did not provide any evidence or testimony, and Lacked proper authorization to act on my behalf, and/or Submitted an affidavit from an unauthorized agent. In other words, the hearing failed before it even began. When I contacted O'Connor & Associates for an explanation, they told me they were "waiting for a hearing date to be set" -- even though the county had already scheduled one, and their representative was listed as the participant. So now I'm left wondering: Did they simply not show up? Did they fail to submit the correct forms? Did they do anything at all? As of today, I still have no response or clarification from them. After years of minimal reductions, poor communication, and now a completely botched hearing, I can only advise others to be extremely cautious before using O'Connor & Associates for property tax protests. My experience suggests that the burden falls on the homeowner, while the "experts" provide little value -- and in this case, no representation at all.
