To verify everything, we spent weeks providing copies of documents that verified his service and his medical records. Months later, after hearing nothing, we contacted the NCBC to determine the situation and were told via phone call that "he was not eligible - wrong kind of cancer". That was it. No written explanation or response at all. No details, just sorry - his illness was the wrong type of leukemia Our conclusion from the way this was handled is that either the NCBC is a shoddy, poorly run organization or that it is a ripe with fraud. Either way, it is a shame that the U.S. government doesn't value and control taxpayer money any better.

AFC then found my Aetna coverage and told me that Aetna was my SECONDARY insurance--but said their system required them to use the secondary insurance instead. The result? A $100 copay instead of $25. I questioned this several times. I asked why I couldn't use my primary BCBS coverage. Same answer: their system wouldn't allow it. I even asked them to remove Aetna so they could process my BCBS, and I was told they couldn't because doing so would be "fraud." Here's the problem: that's backwards. Coordination of Benefits generally requires the primary insurance to be billed first, followed by the secondary insurance. Aetna's own provider guidance says exactly that: bill the primary insurer first, review the primary EOB, then bill the secondary insurer. I understand computer systems have limitations. What I don't accept is being told I must pay $100 instead of my $25 primary-insurance copay because their system insists on using my SECONDARY insurance, and then having the word "fraud" thrown into the conversation when I question it. Patients with multiple insurance plans: check exactly which insurance AFC is billing before you pay. Needles today I left to another urgent care where my insurance was billed correctly. I will never step foot at AFC Urgent Care again.

Wow, my wife showed up a few weeks early to make a new patient appointment. Now, a few weeks later, we come back for our appointment and the forms she filled out are gone. They think they were shredded. Why would they ask her to spend her time to fill them out if they were just going to throw them away? And then now, as she's filling out the forms on the iPad "kiosk", she stops to look up some of the information they're asking for and the device logs her off, erasing everything that she's entered up to that point. And the staff can't help because the device didn't save anything, so they ask her to fill it all out AGAIN. Now, things happen, and how the staff deals with customers goes a long way to how the patients react to these things. The staff here is very rude. Even when they apologize, you can hear the disdain in their voice. If you don't want to work here, then don't. But don't take it out on the patients. That's not a way to stay in business.
