Big shout out to Ann, Robin, Jaida, Jen, Rayne, Tiana, Alexia, and Victoria - the team responsible for my well-being during my procedure at Ambulatory Surgery Center. Luckily, I had a "Thank You" card with my discharge packet that capture their names (cause that anesthesia be bussin' and causes short term remembery loss...). In all seriousness, the team at Ambulatory Surgery Center demonstrates professionalism and most importantly, compassion from start to finish. For transparency, my procedure was scheduled at the ASC through my GI doctor (Dr. Ali), who maintains a separate practice from the ASC (as far as I understand). Given this fact, the coordination was streamlined. The key here was the communication I received throughout that kept me informed and allowed me to appropriately prepare for the procedure. The digital process for patient registration was very easy to navigate, while the pre-op survey was direct and focused. I continued to receive text reminders along with pre-op instructions to ensure that I was on-track for the big day. ASC is a stand-alone facility; it doesn't share the physical building with any other entity. I find that this made it easy to identify and locate as you're arriving for your procedure. On the day of my procedure, I was promptly checked-in. This process set the tone for the procedure. In my opinion, the thoroughness of this process gave me some peace of mind before the actual procedure. After was I checked-in, the nursing team and staff took care of me the rest of the way until the procedure and post-op. They were super friendly and nice, making small talk to calm some nerves, while tending to each patient's needs. On Nov. 22 I had a lapidus and akin procedure done by Dr Ahn Nguyen. I have to say I was the first patient at the surgical center at 5:45 am. It was dark, and the front entrance had a light that was flickering which gave me vibes of "you can check in but can't check out." Now I can tell you that before going in I was seriously freaking out, and seeing this creepy doomsday light flickering didn't help. Of course I know my mind was playing tricks on my already freaked out brain...but when I walked inside I can honestly say this was the nicest and cleanest surgical center I've had been a patient at. The nurses, the anesthesiologist, and of course the doctor and check in staff were all very kind, understanding, and thorough. They knew I was very very very nervous and were kind and sympathetic to my fears and concerns. They answered all of my questions and my mother's questions too. They even had these little heating devices that blew into the sheets that kept me warm... when I let them know that sometimes I wake up nauseous after anesthesia, they made sure to be proactive about that and I did not have a issue. When I addressed the issue that in a past procedure I had done at a hospital I had developed a complication with the IV site a couple days after release with a hysterectomy they made sure to be proactive in giving antibiotics in the surgical room and also send a prescription home so that would not happen to me with this surgery. Someone also made sure to check in after the surgery to make sure everything was okay and wanted to see if there was anything that I needed. All in all, this surgical center has been absolutely fantastic and all the staff were top notch!!! I definitely can reassure you that if your experience was like mine, your procedure will be smooth sailing from start to finish. Well done there team! The Ambulatory Surgery Center is an out patients surgery or checkup clinic. I was there a year ago to have my medical checkup. This location is just across from USF golf course. I saw a lot of one day procedure patients either for their checkup or minor surgery. This is rather less expensive than the hospital for small procedure without admit to hospital. The Center equip with surgery room for eye sight correction, colonoscopy, and more. They have anesthetist on site and they will knock you out unconsciously while they perform the surgery or video scoping. You feel like a sweet dream after you are out. After you are awake, the procedure is done. You probably will be not in control for a moment before the drug of anesthesia is passed. The doctor may advice you not to drive for a day while you recovered. The center is clean. The nurses are more experienced on the job. It is an expensive 3 hours nap during the small procedure. read more

STAY AWAY!!!! I had a procedure scheduled in April, was called the week of the appointment to be informed the doctor wasn't in the office, and that I need to be rescheduled. I do so for the next available appointment which wasn't until June. I showed up for my 2 o'clock, only to be told at 3:30 that it's going to be another 3-4 hours!!!!! I have personally had 2 surgical procedures at Ambulatory Surgery Center, and each of my 2 daughters have been there as well. I can't say enough wonderful things about this facility and it's staff! From the moment you walk in the door, you are treated with friendly professionalism. The nurses are personable and attentive to your every need. If you want speed & efficiency, this facility is a very good place to undergo endoscopes, colonoscopies, as well as procedures in the fields of urology, podiatry, orthopedics, gynecology, general surgery, orthopedics, pain management, plastic surgery, ophthalmology, & other specialities. On Fletcher Avenue just west of Bruce B. Downs Blvd, there is plenty of parking. The PROCESS: (1) You'll enter the building and be asked to be seated. Soon after, you'll meet for a handful of questions w/ the individual who greeted you upon entry. (Chris' British accent was great!) (2) After being directed to wait in the large lobby area, you'll meet w/ him again to sign papers & arrange payment. (3) After a ten minute lobby wait, I was called back to a small room. There I met two nurses & the anesthesiologist. (4) After being prepped for surgery (& waiting 40 min), another nurse took me to a nearby hallway to wait some more; however, the wait was short lived & she remained w/ me as we conversed about her children. (5) Next it was a wheeled trip down the hall & into the room where my procedure would begin. (6) From there it was another ride to the two patient recovery room just a few doors down. (A curtain separates the patients). (7) After approximately 20 minutes, I sat in a wheelchair & was then quickly rolled out the side door to my driver's awaiting vehicle. The system used at this ambulatory center is one of precision w/o deviation; everything operates in rhythm. There truly is little deviation to the type of assembly line procedural system that is employed here-- Bing. Bang. Boom. In and out. The BIG POSITIVES: 1) the steps from the moment you enter the building are fast & like clockwork. One patient after the other. Snap snap. You should get in & out quickly unlike most centers where delays prolong a haphazard experience. (2) the online pre-surgical prep is extensive, but necessary and easy to complete. The system even saves your entries if you want to answer the multitude of questions over a series of days/weeks. (3) Gretchen in Recovery. She was born for the job-- kind, friendly & professional, and even humorous. She put me right at ease & happily answered my questions. The NEGATIVES: (1) The waiting room is VERY cold, so bring a thick sweater or a jacket. (2) The two nurses who worked with me in the prep room were only semi friendly. It would have been nice of them to at least smile, introduce themselves, & to warn me when they were going to jab my finger w/ a needle then shove another needle in my hand. I don't particularly like those types of surprises. (3) the three members of the medical personnel in the actual procedural room NEVER spoke to me upon entry. Silence! Uncomfortable silence! The younger woman in black (on 2/12/19) not ONCE spoke to me as she worked on me. No words. Nothing. Zippo. She came across as cold. A man eventually introduced himself and asked me a question or two before telling me to lie on my side. The doctor entered (he was genuinely friendly, thank God) then the procedure began. Only the woman in black didn't bother to tell me it was beginning! I felt a warm, stinging sensation in my hand, which apparently knocked me out. (Like w/ the needle sticks, it would have been REALLY nice to know what was coming.) Except for the doctor, there wasn't one truly compassionate staff member in that room, & that is unacceptable. I was essentially a nameless person to the three people in the room w/ the doctor and me. Although the speed of service was very much appreciated, the unfriendliness wasn't acceptable. Acknowledging the patient (me) & letting him/her know what to expect would not detract from getting her (me) out quickly. THE REASON FOR 4 STARS -- the efficiency of service like nothing I've experienced at this type of medical facility until now; the efficiency of the online pre-surgical "paperwork;" and Gretchen in Recovery. Phenomenal nurse! Now if only management would require each medical staff member to introduce him/herself upon meeting the patient AND require him/her to tell the patient ahead of time what is going to occur. Perhaps Gretchen can train them on how to be friendly, but that unfortunately is an innate quality that should be present within anyone in this line of work. Yes, it's great that you operate like a well greased machine that gets people in & out quickly, but servicing ALL of the patient's needs in the process is essential. !!! beware !!! if you are going here for colonoscopy or similar service, the staff ( nurses ) administering your service, from what i've experience, are very sub par, incompetent, and seem to have no professional experience in this area of service.. i felt as if i was dealing with someone with community college level experience, no patient or side bed manners, play around during critical parts of the services . find yourself with bruises and cuts after waking up from there procedures !!! i would not recommend this company for services !! read more

My son had an ACL repair at the surgery center and everyone was fantastic. The staff kept me informed, they communicated the progress throughout surgery, they provided me information for recovery and answered all my questions. They were professional, nice, and well informed about my sons procedure. I would use this surgery center again. Everyone from the staff that checks you in to the nurses and the doctors that were involved in my procedure were excellent. They were professional but caring. I had a procedure done Tuesday at the Ambulatory Surgery Center at 4500 E. Fletcher In Tampa FL. What an Awesome Team some people! Peggy my nurse was awesome she made me as calm as a kitten which is not easy task. Everyone was so nice and accommodating from the time I walked in the door to the time I left. Customer care is a thing of the past but I found it at this Surgery center and even though I have a beautiful new facility within a mile from my home I will make the drive back to this older facility due to this amazing care I received. read more
