The SFFD serves an estimated population of 1.2 million people (which includes the approximately 740,000 citizens residing in the 47.5 square miles of San Francisco, the daytime-commuter population, and the thousands of other visitors, tourists, and others present in the City every day) with approximately 1,700 firefighting and emergency medical field personnel. I am very proud of this station for two reasons: 1. My brother has been stationed @ Engine 19 since he came out of the Fire Academy 15+ years ago. He is a Lt. I love my Bro. He lives less than a mile from his work. Rare! 2. Engine 19/Station 19 correct terminology is Engine 19 went through a major renovation. They have a strong commitment to the neighborhood. I see this station daily. Thank God (knock on wood), I have never had to use their services. You can see the fire-fighter's in the neighborhood. Shopping for groceries, shopping in Stonestown Galleria Mall. Yes Firefighters love to shop. Soon I am going to get them Yelping. The Men and Women of the SFFD should be commended. They put their lives on the line everyday. Infodiva reppin the OMI Ingleside Stonestown Lake Merced Lakeside I can see these places daily from my beautiful window. The first few floors of the library aren't too quiet, which I prefer, but the 4th level and higher are quiet study areas. There are also plenty of electrical outlets, but they are scattered throughout along the walls and floor (not built into the tables like what more modern libraries have.) I'm not a SFSU student, but was able to come here with no issues to get some work and studying done. There is very limited paid parking around the area and the free street parking is impossible to find, but if your mobile and capable enough you can park unlimited for free at the mall up the street and walk over (it was about a 15 minute walk.) There are also several muni and bus stops in the area, so public transportation is probably more ideal. I like getting my steps in, so I parked at the mall and walked over. There is free guest wifi in the library for non-students. You just need to sign up for it with your name and email address, and the system emails you a one time password to use. The wifi is surprisingly slow, considering that this is on a college campus and I'm sure there are many students that rely on needing good internet speeds for their courses and studies.

Back in the day, this library was just like any other municipal library. After the renovations, this place feels more like a miniature IT campus similar to that of Apple or google. And the library gets super busy especially during midterms and finals. Surprisingly there's a Help Desk where you can get a loaner laptop, you have basic computer questions. Basically this is a good place to start for your studying needs.

This review is for the swim class at Giammona Pool:…read more SCAM SCAM SCAM This swimming pool has a very scammy predatory business practice. My child already graduated from La Petite Baleen at level 5. She swam there for at least 6 years and already knew all the basics. My wife was looking for something for her to do to help her maintain her skills. She was researching online and found this place that was ran by Daly City Recreational Center and wanted to give them a try. The first time she took our daughter there they did a quick assessment and said she belonged to Level 1. My wife reasoned with them and they ended up putting her in Level 2 (Jellyfish). We paid for 4 classes and they told us at the end of the 4th class they will evaluate her again. I was there with her the first 3 classes and all I saw was them putting my daughter on the side of the pool and had her kick her legs and swing her arms in the water while holding the side of the pool. Today was the 4th class. Before she began today's class I asked the guy at the reception counter about the rating. He told me he already got the eval result and that my daughter has failed. So all together they already gave her a failing grade from just 3 previous classes, even before her 4th and final class has started. I told him she already graduated from La Petite at Level 5. How did she fail when all she really did most of the time was kick her legs at the side of the pool. He gave me a non-answer about list of stuff she need to do and the teacher said she failed. My wife was angry. At the end of the today's class (the 4th class) my wife asked the teacher how come my daughter failed. The reason the teacher gave us was another non-answer like "her legs were too low". Even though she never told my daughter to kick her legs higher during class at all. There were zero instructions given. Secondly, when the teacher had her swam out in the open pool, she had my daughter laid on her back and kick her legs in the water while the teacher walked backward holding my daughter armpit. The teacher basically kept holding her back and didn't let my daughter swam freely and let her perform. But when my wife asked why did she hold my daughter's back the teacher lied and said my daughter told her to hold her. My daughter said she never told her to do that and that the teacher only kept repeating simple instructions like "swim in a circle". The whole class was only 25 minutes and there were 5 students in class. The teacher pretty much carried each student in circles and called it swimming. Each student had only around 5 minutes of "swim time" per class. While the rest of the 20 minutes she just swing her arms and kicked her legs at the side of the pool. A complete waste of time and money. My feeling is that they don't want to move students up too fast and they want to milk as much tuition fee from the parents as possible. Honestly, from what I could see, most parents just put their kids here so they have something to do. Many parents just day dream or scroll on the phone instead of paying attention to what they are teaching their kids. At about $10 per class it is cheap, I'll give you that. But you really do get what you paid for. And with the quality of "education" they give your child, it's totally not worth it. I am not sure where all the positive reviews came from. I am pretty sure they are either from people who works there or from parents who just like the big pool. I read through all the 1 star reviews on Yelp and Google review and they are inline of what we've experienced. This is not a swim class, it's more of a children day care with water.

They know how to get children involved in activities so that parents do not lose their minds, seriously though! They really know how to create activities that allow children to get involved at an early age. This was probably one the best parts about growing up in Daly City. The Park & Recreation team have always be instrumental in schools and have contributed to a lot of great opportunities. If you are looking to do something fun during the summer this is a great place to go to. They use to offer catalogs for sign up but because I no longer live in Daly City I am not sure. But, there is an endless amount of activities to choose from. The other cool thing is that they offer classes for adults in a multitude of areas as well. Just a great job of reaching out to the community.

It looked hopeless the family and friends of these poor souls would ever find justice. We did speak with an officer and were treated kindly and respectfully. Law enforcement has a tough job. Three thug types were trying to break into the gate and potentially house while i lli was sound asleep! i don't know what caused me to wake up bc there wasn't any noise, but when i did i knew immediately something was wrong and looked at the camera and saw them out there. i turned all the lights on and called 911. About 10-15 cops showed up within minutes and were right away making sure everything was safe and that these guys weren't hanging around nearby. Two officers came up to talk to me and tried to calm me down bc i was really freaked out by all this. They were super kind and helpful and gave great advice on what the owner of the house i'm renting should do to secure it and reassured me that if these thugs came back they would have a hard time getting into the house AND to keep my phone next to me and call right away if they came back. Cops have really tough jobs and these days little respect. Especially living in a city like SF where they favor criminals and police have to deal with so much politics and BS just to be able to do their jobs. Their jobs are to protect us! The leaders of this city sadly want to make that hard for them. That is super sad. They came to my aid in literally less than five mins, probably more like 2 or 3 mins and likely prevented the situation from escalating into something far worse! I love the officers at Taraval station and they've always taken good care of us. i will for sure miss them when i move in a few weeks, and hope that in my new home i don't have to call the police as much as i've had to while living here in Sf, specially the last few years. Thank you SFPD, and especially all of my favorite Taraval Station officers! you're the best!

It's a tremendous resource for genealogy buffs. Not only is the physical collection extremely broad and in-depth, but if you don't have a laptop/tablet/smart phone with you, the free computer stations allow you to consult on-line sources. And they have a free scanner/copier/printer that allows you to print out sources (or save the scans to a thumb drive) rather than having to check out an entire book. The Library's open hours are a bit limited, but I understand the limitations they have to work within. The space is quiet (except for staffers -- see below), clean, comfortable, spacious and well-appointed. The bathrooms are exceptional! There's a Peet's Coffee just an elevator ride away. Like I said -- it's a wonderful resource! ...and then there's the staff. I'd give them an aggregate rating of just 2 stars. A couple of the staff are nice and helpful. Angelica (?) is unfailingly considerate. But three of the other staffers (one white woman and two Asian women) are unhelpful, lazy, often noisy, and sometimes bordering on the rude. I find it hard to believe that they would still have jobs if they worked in a service industry in the private sector. If the Library could find a way to re-train them (or replace them), the Sutro would get full marks.
