My son has been taking 45-minute 1-on-1 weekly voice lessons at US Music Lessons for 5 months so far. His instructor, Mona, is wonderful with him. She is very positive and gives him lots of good coaching in a way that isn't overwhelming. Because of his lessons here, he had the confidence to sing in his school's talent show, which has further boosted his confidence in general. He also joined a US Music Lessons rockband that has an instructor. A convenient factor is that you can do lessons online if your kid is feeling under the weather or you are out of town. Our 7 year old is taking his piano classes almost a year now. He is happy here and having fun. This facility is at a convenient location, especially if you are from Rancho Bernardo area. The office staff including Edison are very professional and helpful. They instructors are very knowledgeable and kid friendly. We had worked with Ms Sarah and currently with Ms Heather. Ms Heather is very gentle and nice towards my 7 year old. My son loves Ms Heather and very keen to attend her class. They recently, few months back, opened another building in the same location. This is one stop music class, DRUMS, GUITAR/BASS, PIANO, UKULELE, VIOLIN, and VOICE. They also offer ONLINE LESSONS. I would recommend this place whole heartedly. My heather is awesome. read more

I really like the fact that the studio has some spacious practice rooms compared to other studios where it's hard to move. Of course that varies depending on which teacher you go with. My main concern is that USML charges a flat rate per month - doesn't matter if it's 4 or 5 lessons, whether USML decides to close the premises for their vacation, or students are out of town. When I was out sick I notified the office well in advance so we can schedule a make-up lesson. USML does NOT do that. So basically come in sick unless you want to lose your lesson time in favor of a short video. 3.5 stars. read more

My son needed a new ukulele teacher now that we moved to SD so we gave this place a try twice. The ukulele teacher was patient and easy to get along with. My son enjoyed her. Unfortunately, I'm very sensitive to scents: perfume, plug ins, candles, etc., so my son wasn't able to continue lessons here. I notified the gentleman in the front desk that we weren't able to continue lessons due to my sensitivities to the strong scent in the office and that we will be looking for another music school. It seemed like he understood so I expected him to cancel our future lessons and not charge my cc for the following month. I also received an email asking if I my son will be continuing lessons, I replied, no...and to please cancel future charges. The following month my card did get charged over $200. I called the office and they did refund me. I thought that was the end of it. My card got charged again the following month. I called the office again and whoever answered the phone said he was going to refund the card. A week later it wasn't refunded so I had to call again. Let's see what happens next month. If it wasn't the lovely music teacher, I'd give place 2 stars. UPDATE: My card again was charged for November. Apparently they refunded my card. Let's see what happens in December. I received an email notifying my refund of November and a receipt. I also replied back that if it happens again, I will report to the BBB and my bank for fraudulent transactions. read more

08/2016 update. Our, now, 10 year old has taken three instrument lessons at US Music --piano, drums, and guitar. He's learned a lot and has received excellent instruction in all three. ------------------------------------ Our 8 year old has been taking piano lessons for about 6 months and loves it. I've been pleased to the point where we're going to try and add a second day of instruction to the current 1 day/week that he's doing now. The instructor is great and a couple of the substitute instructors that he's had he's liked as well. What I liked about US Music Lessons was the selection of instruments they teach. I've asked if they would be fine with adding a second instrument over the summer just for a month of instruction to get a taste of something different and they're fine with that idea. For example, I want our boy to get a taste of drums and guitar at some point in time. They're adding a program in their repertoire that I would have loved for our boy when he was younger which is a 18mo-7 year old musical survey, of sorts, class where they learn to read music and explore several different instruments in a group setting. I feel a program like that would have given me a great idea of what instrument to start individual lessons with. read more

To us, these are more than just music lessons... My son struggles with controlling his emotions. If he doesn't do something perfectly, he gets down on himself to the point where it's hard for him to function. You can imagine when he started drum lessons, it was very hard for him to get going. Every missed beat, he would get down on himself. Listening in on his first couple lessons, I almost became emotional when I overheard how encouraging and supportive his drum instructor was. He was teaching my son life lessons, of how mistakes were part of life, through music. My son began to gain confidence, losing the fear of trying new things and making mistakes. I went there to find music teachers, yet, after tried out for several times, we decided not to continue because the teacher wasn't suitable, then it is hard not to continue! Over the phone, they agreed to end and not charge my credit card more, however, later months, they still charged my credit card one time by one time! then I had no way but talked to my bank to end their charging me! finally I canceled my credit card to prevent them charge me more! We have had an excellent experience in piano lessons with US Music. Two of my sons started at 5 years old with Mr. David. They immediately bought into the commitment and learning process because of David's authentic nature. He has taught them in a way that lends to very little frustration and great pride in their ability! The management worked with us on several different occasions to rearrange lessons to fit the boys' ever changing extra curricular schedule. I also love that they do a formal recital, twice a year. This is place is absolutely horrible! been with them for months, hoping it'll get better. The first 2-4 months, they swapped 3-4 teachers on my daughter, most of the time without me knowing. The piano she played on was out of tune and horrible. One key is significantly louder than the other. It threw my daughter off playing. Then they had a recital we didn't even know about. There was no, "hey, there's a recital we are doing, let's focus on songs for this recital." We heard about the recital from some side conversations. I just can't do this place anymore. One of the worse experiences with paid services I've dealt with in a LONG time! I only write bad reviews if warranted. This place warrants a bad review! I'd be nice from them to refund the remaining 3 weeks that's left. But of course they will not! I asked, they said no! read more

My daughter asked for music lessons for Christmas. When I emailed to find out if they had gift cards they responded right away. My husband drove down and picked up the gift card and was really impressed with the people and professionalism they showed. They were very kind. We were worried about if my daughter didn't like the lessons but the manager guaranteed a full refund if that was the case. When my daughter got the gift card she was touched but said that her schedule had changed due to taking extra college classes and she couldn't commit to taking the lessons. My husband called and they offered a refund with no problem at all. So even though we have not use their services I am extremely impressed with their customer service. If my daughter does decide to pursue her music lessons in the future we will definitely be back. I will also recommend this place to anyone who is looking for music lessons . read more

Her teacher (Elliot) is so patient and kind, and really understands exactly how to instruct her in a way that is fun and motivating. Sean's been coaching me in Guitar up in Orange County and I've been absolutely loving it! Sean has such a contagious enthusiasm for the guitar, and he is very knowledgeable and helpful in so many ways. I also appreciated how on our first lesson he asked me about my goals and he's been customizing our lessons help with my specific vision. Of course I'm just a curious person, so Sean has patiently answered all my questions about everything (with a smile). I've been working with him for a month now and I'm playing about 6 chords comfortably (which was a priority for me), but I'm also learning to play and read individual notes as well. I've learned how to tune my guitar, how to use a capo, and even how to change my strings. It has also been very inspirational to learn from someone who has a greater vision for my musical ability than I ever had for myself. He really goes above and beyond because he genuinely wants you to have everything you need and to be the best you can be. He also holds himself to a very high standard. Rather than just going through the motions for 30 minutes each lesson, he really works hard to make sure that you are comfortable with what you have learned and will take the extra few minutes to make sure you're ready to go until next week. I went in to guitar thinking it would be a 'fun hobby' or just a nice thing to learn, but Sean has really shown me how to love the guitar and I'm very excited to keep on learning! read more
