I have never had such a bad experience. Opened a PO Box 3 months ago to receive payments for my business. Out of 5 large payments mailed to my PO Box, 3 of them have gone missing, with one of them returned to my customer with the "Returned to Sender" label on it! The address my customer used was correct. For other payments, I have received an Image showing the payment arrived in the PO Box, and then I go down there 9 days later (I was on vaca) to get it...and nothing is in the box. This is actually damaging my business now, as I have to go back and keep asking for payments to be re-issued and they have to cancel checks. Lazy people working there could not give a crap that I am not getting my payments and they just give some 800 number to call and file a complaint. Useless - not a solution! This is one of the best historic Post Offices in Iowa. It has one of the coolest murals. The clerks are friendly and very helpful. I mailed a package to a friend and the clerk suggested Priority Express to get there the next day but I chose the cheaper Priority. Thank You for the great service. read more

Worst Post Office I have ever used. On a personal level- Gave so much trouble in me picking up a package and when going to send, I paid extra for it to be overnighted, and according to the tracker, it was not sent out until 2 weeks later. Then the package was lost and never made it to its destination. On a business level- they told me that they will not pick up any outgoing mail, that i have to take it to a drop bin to send it out. They do not even get the mail from our closest bin everyday. The post office is the laziest one I have ever experienced. It is their job/duty to pick up mail and deliver mail. I think it's ridiculous of them to refuse to do their job. Service wise- the staff is rude and disrespectful. Very poorly run. read more

The delivery carriers used by Ames Kellogg Street USPS are constantly delivering mail to the wrong address. I have fought with them for 9 years. Important medical mailings and other such pieces of mail that belong to me, end up in another person's mailbox...and most neighbors do not take the time to walk to your house and put it in your mailbox. But, really, it is the USPS responsibility. Ames carriers have either had the worst training or the supervisory staff just do not give a damn. When I call, they take my complaint about misplaced mail (over and over and over and over again) and say they will "fix it" but today it happened again. I am not talking once in a great while. I am talking several times a month. Then when I tried to call back they just let the phone ring and ring and ring and will not answer. I am filing a complaint with the PostMaster General regarding this particular post office. I am so tired of their false claims to fix things and I am so tired of having to do their job for them and track down my personal medical mailings and others. No one should have to do this.
