They could actually do their jobs like they're supposed to. Packages out for delivery and somehow they just make it back to the post office. The jobs I had you had to finish your work to go home. If you aren't doing to deliver just leave them at the post office so people can pick them up and not have to wait two extra days for things you need. read more

I live in Athens AL. I was just sitting here thinking why the U.S. Postal Service has ceased operations in Athens, AL. I know Amazon has been flagged on all the lost packages that never get delivered in this town. It has gotten so bad at my place, Amazon offers me credit and then sends me a note stating if the package does arrive, I won't be charged; just keep it. The down side is, they never show up. Whomever is the Big Dog in charge of the Athens operations needs to gut the entire system and start over. I'm sure the Athens residents would agree being the interim wouldn't be noticed. It all starts with the Athens AL Post Master. I have no idea who they are, but can guarantee they have acheived their promotions via their many years of Postal Service employment climbing that ladder by way of, "Don't move em out, move em up". I'm 62 yrs old, and this is absolutely the worst post office delivery services I've experienced. There's too many delivery complaints for me to list them all. Final complaint states that they could not access the delivery location. It's not a gated community or community centralized post office box. It's just a down right pitiful excuse not to delivery my package today as promised. read more

I am a totally disabled Veteran and two of my prescription were not delivered and the reason was It was being held at post office at customers request. That is not true, I was home all day and never requested a hold on the meds. I am not very mobile and it is difficult for me to travel and stand in a long line. read more

This place is awful, but I have to go regularly anyway, because my mail carrier is the worst. They generally won't even leave a slip informing us of packages being held at the post office, and they won't come down our driveway-which is admittedly not great, but FedEx and UPS don't have a problem doing so. We've put in both formal and informal complaints, but nothing ever changes. They also have the worst, craziest hours. They open kind of late, 8:30, and then they only stay open till 11:30, then they take lunch from 1-4. My husband can't make it there before OR after work, so I end up having to go, at like 1. Some of the people who work there rush you- sharing too much personal information, like that they need to go pick up their kid. Some take forever, and there's no system in place regarding where things are kept I guess, because they just have to look around for thirty minutes to see if they can find your packages. Sometimes, they'll be like well it might be here, it might not be, it might be in your mail carrier's truck- either way, I don't think it's been returned to sender. Then they'll, like, ask their coworkers their opinions, meaning your package's location might come down to whether or not they or their coworkers remember having seen it- not, say, by looking it up on the computer, despite the current year being 2024. read more

The mail courier continues to not deliver my newspaper and of course no one answers the phone at the Athens Post Office, because they know it's a complaint. I'm not going to drop this, until I see some action. I'm going to contact the Postmaster General to help me decide my options. read more

Wish I could give them 0 stars to be honest. Almost Everytime a package gets shipped to this office, it shows up way later than it's supposed to or doesn't show up at all. I've been waiting for a certain package to be delivered to my home for 3 weeks now and should have been here in 4 days. I've called this office multiple times and nobody answers. They close at 4:30 not 4:00. If I call at 4:00, then why isn't anyone picking up the phone. Very unprofessional and lazy. Renewing and confirming assessments...service is HORRIFIC!! Long lines, understaffed, and as slow as Christmas to a six year old.

Occasionally mail is delayed but it usually shows up only a day or 2 late. When I've had a problem, I call the office and someone always answers. They are friendly and genuinely want to help. I don't usually write reviews but I feel that they get a lot of negative feedback and should hear from someone who appreciates their efforts. I get frustrated too, when mail is lost or delayed but I'm not going to blame them, they are understaffed and doing the best they can. read more

I have been having problems with this postal service for almost 8 years! They give me others mail, loose my packages, never recover mail/packages, refuse to stop/resolve things after complaining all these years. As of today, I have now been threatened by my mail delivery employee. The City of Athens, AL postal service does not care anything about our mail and have showed incredible laziness in delivering mail to the correct addresses. Contact the USPS consumer affairs to file any complaints/cases if its happening to you as well. We need to get their attention so they may investigate this office and it's failures. read more

My mom and my grandma in law are both disabled they are at home 99% of the time. So I recieved a final notice from the post carrier yesterday about sending a package back this was my final notice but the fact is I havent received no other notices and noone has came to my door to deliver a package I order alot off line and they always put it on the wrong porch and do not come to my door. Then I have to spend an hour on the phone with an automated service that dont understand , it seems like a circus !!! Me and my best friend both ordered items recently. USPS claims our items have been delivered when in reality, they are no where in sight. Have had issues like this before, if you have an option to pick a carrier, DO NOT pick this service. Absolute embarrassment, and waste of time and money.
