The rep who helped me was friendly and helped me fill out the custom slip for my shipment and answered all my questions regarding international shipping for such a large box. I had to revisit this Post Office and I realized why it sucks. Its manager Abe is the most "explicit here" person around. Very rude, acts macho because he is behind the glass, disrespect the people that already made the line by not wanting to do his job. One of my doctor's office is close by so I've come here often throughout the years. The other day, there was a customer who had a complicated international mailing to do and was at the service window for about 10 minutes. A worker walked by and saw the line and actually opened up another service window!!! You're probably thinking, " uhh isn't that just basic customer service? When there is a long line, it's natural to expand the service? You would be wrong my friend, I have seen many times at other Post offices in nyc where there is only one window open with 15 people in line and I can see employees sitting in the background, chit chatting and ignoring the fact that there's people waiting in line for 20 minutes. So for that, I am giving them 5 stars. (I see all the bad reviews but it seems like they are from 2016 and older.) read more

O-M-G I begin to fill with dread when I'm low on stamps. I loathe having a package to ship. There is a magical portal surrounding the entrance. As you enter, your patience, contentment, sense of control and inner balance are inexorably drained away from you. All laws of efficiency and order cease to exist within the magic portal. Confusion and chaos abound; they rule this space mercilessly. The place is dirty. There used to be stamp vending machines. I hated them because I always had large bills and they would dispense dollar coins as change. I hate dollar coins....they don't feel like real money. Alas, the machines were much preferable to the ghastly line. And the line is always long and filled with angry impatient people - angry, impatient people who just need stamps and will only take a second so they should go first. Angry, impatient people who are double parked, so they should go first. Angry, impatient people looking for any excuse to get ahead of you. You just need stamps? I have this 6 hundred billion pound package to send by 3:13 today or the universe will implode...I should go first. You see, rules of etiquette are also suspended. Civility has no meaning inside the portal. Your neighbors are now your enemies. The civil servants "helping" you behind the thick glass panes are the minions of confusion and chaos. Most are surly and petulant (and slow). They will make you surly and petulant. You have no defense, no self control - its been drained away. You, too, are now a minion of confusion and chaos. Ummm, I read Ryan's review and it sounded like the 10463 post office - much kudos to his prose!!! Excellent! As far as the 10471 Post Office, my experience was quite different than Ryan's....I had the pleasure of going to the 10463 FIRST so the 10471 seemed like Shangri-La....alas, as I entered that portal, I heard tree frogs and swear I heard a babbling brook in the distance. The person behind the two inch thick plexiglass smiled at me, yes, ME a customer! He asked if he could "help me", ME! A customer! Help! He offered! Wow! I asked for a book of stamps. I was given a book of stamps. I walked away. I was content. I was not traumatized. I felt whole. Now I am, perhaps, exaggerating a bit, but the experience at 10471 made me feel this way after dealing with the one on Broadway in the 10463. I guess the bottomline is, avoid every post office....if you can.... read more

ABSOLUTELY NOT! I went in to package something for the holiday and the two customer service agents were the absolute worst. Both were on their phones, had a nasty attitude and were unfriendly. They also took advantage of the fact that I was missing one piece of tape and made me purchase a roll of tape and two separate boxes which was twice as much money to ship. They are horrendous- do not go here. Replacing both of those people with machines would be much better for everyone. I would give this ZERO stars if it were possible. read more

When I stopped by this post office with the first retail specialist I was being treated fairly. But then with another retail specialist I really felt like I was being treated as a low life. Thank goodness that post office at least has a manager that is monitoring everything. read more

USPS tracking stated that my package was delivered on Friday, but it was not in my mailbox or at my door. I went to the office to ask one of the clerks if there was an error and if the package was somehow still in the building. The clerk refused to check the rack without a tracking number. When I told her that I did not have the tracking number with me, she threw my ID back at me and told me my package was probably stolen. Here I thought the Post offices in San Francisco were bad... STAY CLEAR of this post office... I went here today to apply for my sons first passport, myself and husband with all our paperwork, photos etc.. When we approached the window the nasty lady behind it, said we are too late... I said sorry but I was here earlier in the week and stopped in and asked a gentleman behind the glass what times etc cause I remember last year there was also certain times restriction( second attempt got my oldest son his passport) he told me anytime from 10.15 to 3 pm... Granted my husband went to work super early so we could get this done before 3... So we get there at 2.45 and she says it's too late.. My husband asks what time do you stop taking passport applicants! She says 2.45 it was 2.46 she processed to say that we needed to be at the window before 2.45!!! So I jump in and say that's not correct it's says nothing anywhere or on line about how you have to be there no later than 2.45... JUST LAZY people who gave up on their jobs, So then a man came out from behind a wall, think a supervisor ... So then the nasty lady said well do you have all your paperwork filled out, photos , photo copies... So we say yes but don't have photo copies, we have all the original documents that it asks for .. She throws her hands up and says tough luck our photo coping machine is broken.... Can't do it...I then say to the guy .. Are you's serious !!!! He says ,the lady said her machine is broken... Some supervisor you are!! You need to grow a pair.... What ever happened to customer service ... I wasn't asking for a kidney... I just wanted her to do her job that she gets paid for...machine would work better than most of the staff in that post office... Maybe good idea to let her retire early.... Clearly can't be bothered to be there and deal with paying customers ..... Rant over read more
