This place is definitely not the best post office in the area, but also definitely not the worst location. As with many other post office locations, even at 9:20 am, it is just crowded in most cases. The line for regular packages to be picked up and just foot traffic in general is more than it should be. I do say as I did before, other locations around will just treat you even worse or have you to deal with one silly or super lazy employee that should be more helpful than they just are. I know this place has really bad reviews. BUT my experience coming here hasn't been bad. Most of the reviews are regarding the delivery drivers. Mine is only based on the staff at the post office and my experience. I agree YES lines were long on a Saturday so i wasn't surprised this is at every post office. What I did like that both staff that assisted me weren't rude. PLUS At the pick up line they usually take like 3 customers at a time and try to move the lines fast. I don't mind coming here on the weekdays it's more quiet. So don't expect to come here on a weekend and doing a quick pick up. Everyone else is trying to do the same thing. It's that simple. Too many issues receiving packages from this post office. I've had packages scan delivered that were never delivered because the mailmen scan their packages half the time before they even reach my building. Then if I call or go to the post office they tell me there is nothing they can do because the item says "delivered". Once it happened only for my package to turn up 2 months later. This place has cost me enough money over the last 5 years easily into $1000 in misdelivered items. Then when I do get items oftentimes it will get left in the lobby for anyone to steal without me even getting the courtesy of a doorbell ring. Now don't get me started on the so called delivery attempts, as this post office's delivery people are in the habit of just not showing up and scanning and saying they left a notice which is entirely false. I get it, the job can be thankless and difficult at times but it's a job nonetheless. If I continuously screw up at my profession I'm disciplined to the point of termination. What can be said, it's the post office. I think I tend to have a bit more sympathy for postal workers because my mother was one, so it's with a lot of consideration that I give the Williamsbridge/Gun Hill station two stars. Honestly, it's not the clerks or retail service that is the problem. It's that for whatever reason the letter carriers in this neighborhood almost never leave one of those pink slips to notify an attempted parcel delivery. I have had multiple packages sent back to the sender because I never even knew that they tried to deliver them in the first place!! In fact, my mom, using her USPS knowledge, did a little investigating when we had a tracking number/delivery confirmation and said that one package was "double scanned" and then sat at the station for three weeks before they sent it back: in other words, the carrier never actually attempted to deliver but just scanned the package twice to make it look like he'd had it out for delivery and then returned it to the station. This is some shady shit, even for USPS. Like any other station, lines can be long and very slow. A lot of the time it's actually because customers come unprepared and end up wasting clerks' time asking tedious questions. I feel bad for the people that work here, but maybe it'd help if they had more workers that spoke Spanish or could help interpret. It's also not super well-kept, but far from the dirtiest post office I've been to. It's best to come first thing in the morning when they open at 9. The lobby opens at 8 actually, so even if you arrive when the windows open, there's typically already a line. If you come prepared (package your stuff at home, fill out the proper paperwork before you get in line, and have your ID ready for parcel pick up!), it will expedite everything and everyone behind you in line will be that less unhappy. My warning to all customers of this zip code is this: if you can have your packages sent to another address, do it! I used to get stuff sent to my employer's address and could pick it up with the doorman of the building. WILIAMSBRIDGE BRONX POST OFFICE REVIEW: I headed to the post office, I got there at 9:05 AM. Their website said they opened at 9, and their doors were open so I walked in. No registers were open. 4 customers, 2 on retail and 1 on pick ups (picking up packages). I assume they got there when they opened. Either way, its 9:05 and no one is being serviced. I wait my place in the pick up line (second on pickups). They didn't take anyone on retail until 9:11. (So they open at 9 but don't work until 9:11). 2 people checked out quick and the retail employee was just sitting there, like her uniform was fashioned out of the fabric made by the chair itself. At 9:14 they started taking people for pick ups, at an alternate window than is labeled for retail. Linda, (employee) started taking pick ups and retrieved the first persons package. She then went to socialize, then took A EMPLOYEE AND CHECKED THEM OUT, then disappeared. At 9:20AM, my frustration boiled over and I screamed IS SOMEONE GOING TO GET MY PACKAGE??? Only then does Linda grab my paper and checks my ID. She disappears. The other employee at the retail window then starts telling me I'm at the wrong window for pick ups and everyone should wait somewhere else. I then tell everyone to IGNORE HER because I am at the window doing pick ups (and the others on line did see Linda taking my slip), and maybe listen to them when they start doing their jobs correctly. Said Employee then tells me my package is getting retrieved, the window for pick ups is somewhere else, and starts arguing with me about where to get pick ups, which is *hilarious* because my slip was already handed to someone so Im waiting in the right place. She then tells me to calm down and so, in natural fashion I really start yelling - My slip was taken at THIS WINDOW and you opened at 9:00 yet here I am at 9:20 STILL WAITING FOR MY PACKAGE. I guess she got tired to trying to be right so her lazy ass walked away and went to the actual pick up window and start taking customers. I received my package - at the window I was waiting at (Which renders her argument as null). So, the USPS wants to be saved. I go to show support, and this is what I get? A place that's open yet not functional, and argumentative or nonchalant employees? At the end of the day I knew I shouldn't of went to pick up my package - I did anyway and I regret the decision. They NEVER do delivery attempts, they're just too lazy to actually their job, in which they are paid to do. 2. They NEVER leave a damn slip 3. I gave him the slip and he left for about 20 minutes and came back empty handed. What's even more absurd is the post person only has to ring the lobby bell and tenants go down to retrieve their parcel. As I'm writing this review, I have an international item being returned to sender due to the fact it was listed as unclaimed. However, I have attempted to pick up this item twice and was told that someone will get in contact. (A nice way of saying we lost your s.h.i.t ) Never got a call from anyone . According to the United States Postal Service tracking system item was scanned as unclaimed and is now being sent back to sender after an attempted delivery. (An attempted delivery That never happened. ) Customer service and accountability is now a crapshoot for this post office. If you call, Phone rings to a dial tone. If you have an item and this is your post office ship it somewhere else. Collectively I have about 500 plus dollars worth of (someone will get in contact with you Never) from this post office. A positive thing I could say is that the window Customer service at the front desk has drastically improve over the years, hence the two stars review. On the 23rd of September this neighborhood post office was suppose to deliver a package. I was not notified. Since I have several packages deliver to this location (Bronx, NY Address), I did not check for it. I just assume they would buzz me as they always do. It did not happen and no notice was left. I was at this location every single day before and after this delivery date. It wasn't until October 4th that I found out that the package was sent back to the shipper as delivered. So I tried to contact the local post office to see what happened. Of course, they did not pick up the DAMN phone. So I called the 1877 number and I have to wait 30 minutes for them to speak to me. The least they can do is pay for the package to be sent back to me. But if they continue to do this, I think the Government should get out the business of delivering mail, because this is very disgusting. Since my regular mail man retired I hardly ever get my packages, I've seen some improvements but it can get better. I think my biggest pet peeve is when I'm home all day and still can't get my delivery. Sometime I pick up my packages, using the tracking number online, before the peach slip is dropped off. The absolute worst! My package was scheduled to be delivered on February 25, 2019. They lied and said that it was attempted and they left a notice. They did not! I know because my bell and camera on my porch has a motion sensor camera. If anyone steps foot on my porch, I get an alert sent to my phone. And when I click on it I am watching live footage. They "opened a case". Every time I call the wait it is about an hour to speak to someone. I've called 3 times. All they do is add to the case. But noting gets solved. All they can tell me is that the package is at the post office. I signed up for redelivery and still nothing. They gave me the number to call the post office, which I think they did just to get me off the phone. Nobody answers the phone. They say the only other option is to go in. However, I work days. This is the worst post office in the Bronx, its dirty, dark and thelines are too long, takes 1/2 hr or more to pick up a package. Slow service, and can't find packages, they do not redeliver when you fill out the request online. The post officer who delivers the mail does not knock on the door, when someone is home. it is easier for them to stick the slip in the mailbox or their are no numbers on the slip for you to track it. I have had a package stolen 2x for this reason. Someone needs to investigate and revamp, and get rid of the lazy people, who do not value their job, or just don't care. Maybe if they update the place, paint, fix the floors, organized the bins, new lightning, it may boost the moral to something more positive. read more
