If I could give zero stars I would. The management of this place is a mixture of incompetence and rudeness. The physical location is run-down and filthy. I have to track down my packages because their latest thing is that they claim that I don't live at my address anymore. Who knew!! (I have been at the same address for close to twenty years). Perri P's comments are amusing, and I understand nostalgia, having lived in this neighborhood for over 35 years, but I'm afraid that the inconvenience and at times serious difficulties created by this branch are getting to me. I'm getting too old to go in person to complain. Yesterday, for the 2nd time in 10 days, we received no mail; today I got 2 days' worth. I get medication and important communications through the post; it arrives late, sometimes not at all. I usually get the mail, when I get it, after the close of most businesses at 5 pm, so if there's some business matter that requires a prompt response, I can never get to it until the following day. When I first moved here, there was a branch on Livingston St. that was far more efficiently run. My only alternative now is to take an Access-A-Ride vehicle to the main post office on Cadman Plaza. The understaffing may be the result of decisions made higher up in the USPS system, but what staff there is at this branch is uncaring--or ,less charitably--both uncaring and inept. read more

I really, really want to love the USPS. They're chronically understaffed and are trying their best to make it work. We recently moved into a new building and our management contact the post office to have them install their lock system out front so they can deliver our mail. It took them over a month to get someone over. We had to drop off a key for our front door, which at least meant the regular mail carrier could get in (but not the package person.) I've lived all over NYC over a great many years, but this zip is really, truly awful for mail. Nice enough people at the post office, but terribly understaffed and incompetent. I've had packages scanned as 'delivered' that I never received, and I can't say how many times they claim to have attempted delivery while I've been home, and claim to have left notes I never received. I've mailed packages that never turn up on the other end... I used to trust the USPS - took it for granted. Sad to think a service that is such a staple of daily life could be such a shambles in "the greatest city on earth" in the fabled USA. A sign of the times? read more

I been there many times, until i knew the SECRET to be this USPS. Every time I am this post office. People fight each other in line. I pray every time, I have to be there. Today NYPD came here. The problem is - First entrance, mail man flirt with woman. One hour, service never done. - Second entrance, she need retired. - Third for money order but no customer. The secret is LONG LINE whole day. the SECRET is : if you be there at 4.55 PM Post Officer can clear all line with in 10 minutes, and then they get paid. i have lived in the neighborhood longer than most of y'all whippersnappers so any rage i harbor toward this post office has faded to nostalgia. back in the day, they used to play bootleg movies up on that tv in the corner so that during the excruciating wait, you could watch a very badly faded version of a matrix sequel that looked as thought it were being transmitted from another planet, or perhaps a work-in-progress of that ned kelly remake with heath ledger that actually had the composer's name burned-in across the image. those three dangly foil stars on the ceiling near the "self service" area? yeah, they used to decorate for the holidays. they even had a person who would come out into the waiting area to help patrons. but she moved to florida. they also used to have supplies and a working scale and stamp machine! but even then, the lines were insane, and i've never seen more than two, maybe three windows (at christmas) open at a time. i don't know why this post office has always been understaffed, and i don't know why as the neighborhood has expanded & flourished, they have never made any improvements. but i will say that they recently "lost" a package of mine, and the girl at the window actually took my number down, found the package, and called me to tell me she had it waiting for me. so it might seem like nobody cares. but throwing a tantrum or being rude is hardly going to make a difference. at this point, i can't help but collapse in laughter when i see some amateur come in to find a line out the door and yell "BUT I JUST WANT A MONEY ORDER!!" cmon, man, show some stamina. we've all been there. if you treat the employees like human beings, like you might wish to be treated if you worked in this timewarp hellhole nightmare, you might be pleasantly surprised. read more

Thieves and liars. Ebay packages I ship out are frequently disappearing from my building's mail room without tracking information after the Post Office says they've picked them up. Today I requested direct pickup from my apartment as a result of the gamesmanship. No one showed up but once again I got an email saying that the package was picked up. Impossible to fill out complaint form online - more gamesmanship to suppress whistle blowers. read more

Long lines, poor customer service and frequently fails to deliver packages.

This is not my local office, but I had some packages delivered to a friend's house since she's home during the day. The packages shipped via UPS were fine, but the one that was shipped via USPS was never received. When I tracked my packages they all said delivered so I assumed they were. My friend received all the others except this one. I tried to call them, but no one ever picks up. Lucky for me, Amazon refunded my money but it's still a pain because the package contained a gift that now has be be repurchased. read more

After seeing all the reviews by haters, I just felt like posting something positive because I had a decent experience today. Post offices are a drag. That said, the week before Christmas this branch kept the line moving, and staff were helpful, efficient, and friendly. Well worth an extra walk in order to avoid either of the Park Slope branches. read more

This is more a rant against the delivery guys than the staff here (who are always nice). It was the morning of the October snowstorm and I missed a package. The peach colored slip they left didn't say they would try to deliver again, and didn't say it was a final notice. It also didn't leave a time when they attempted and didn't say it actually required a signature. So I had to go down to the post office to inquire about it (went before they closed, since I figured the delivery truck would be back). Long line for pickups (way longer than it was for other business, go figure). So after 25 minutes of waiting, I get up to the counter and this girl who looked like she was in high school (but very nice) went looking for my package, and then came back to tell me the truck wasn't back yet. I asked her if they would try to redeliver or if I would have to come back to pick up, and she didn't have an answer for me. Apparently, the peach colored slip is the Word of God. read more

Is it some new requirement that post offices only have one employee at the window to upset customers and keep the lines long? Is it an ego booster that customers need postal workers? It's really annoying to wait until this location opens at 9am with only one person at the window. As customers, we are busy and employed individuals trying to handle our personal affairs before starting our own workday. We're ultimately delayed, because there isn't enough help on the other side of the window. The worst part is watching employees casually walk back and forth, ignoring the growing line of customers. I know the U.S. Post Office has struggled in recent years with business, I think it has a lot to do with poor customer service. If I did not have to buy money orders or have to rely on UPS, which loves to leave my package at the post office rather than actually deliver it, I would never walk into a post office. So far, the only Brooklyn post office that is somewhat efficient is Cadman Plaza. read more

This is without a doubt the worst post office I've been to in New York. I sell things on the Internet, so I've been to post offices all across the city, and I never cease to be astounded by how terrible this one is. Everyone hates on the post office, but my experience is that if you have all your forms ready to go and know exactly what you want, postal employees are actually polite, helpful, and reasonably efficient. That is far from the case here. It takes them forever to put together a simple order, even when you have everything ready to go. There is always a line. Special shout out to Sana for sucking. She is incredibly rude and misguided about what can be sent via media mail. read more

This post office should have a sign saying "does not deliver." I often order packages online. Since I moved to this area I have had literally dozens of packages sent to me by USPS and NOT ONE has actually gotten to my home. read more

The new manager has made big progress in package delivery. Huge improvement and the first I've seen in 21 years.

Unlike others who have posted here, I experienced a group of people who put in an exemplary effort in an exceptional situation. The staff - and I dealt with a few of them - all responded to my attempts to intercept a misaddressed package with sincere efforts when a "sorry, we can't help you" was expected. Ultimately, they tracked the package to a truck and the supervisor called the carrier. The supervisor then called me (I had left the post office at that point) and I was able to meet the carrier and collect my package. They truly did deliver for me. read more

Worst PO ever! Yes, sometimes the 'tellers' can be pleasant, but more often they are disinterested and move at the pace of mollasses even though there is a huge line. Also, I routinely get other people's mail delivered to my home, which I must mark up and put out for the mailman to redeliver to the right adress. That leaves me to wonder what mail has never made its way to me. Finally, the PO itself is filthy and unkept. Not even a pen for a customer to address a label. Sorry - they should be held to a higher standard. read more

This post office sucks like crazy. Today I went to the machine and paid for my postage for 2 packages but the bin was full. I asked 2 people to unfill it for me the second woman, who had short hair said asolutely not , you have to wait online (there were 20 ppl on line are you friggin kidding me. I said I already paid for it she said stand online or leave the packages on top of the full bin. There were 3 of us with packages. This really nice customer took our packages and we waited and made sure they got through. What a nasty woman where did you get these people and what do you pay them $2 per hour to be that damn nasty. If I spoke to someone like that at my job I WOULD BE FIRED. read more
