SUPER LONG LINE MORE THAN 10 PEOPLE!!!! The customers just keep going on and on talking and the workers here are just enabling them. It's super sad and I am reminded of why I won't come back here again. This is the last time. I needed to scan something otherwise I won't be waiting here in line and the problem is these workers keep prolonging the conversation and aren't professional nor respectful of other customers in line. There are 2 employees and they can't even handle this. All I needed was the worker to scan the QR code from my phone. This place doesn't even have the self serve machine so it's super old and requires people who need something fast to stand in line versus just scan the code and leave! I received great customer service, and the wait was not too long. My only concern was the postal pricing, as my total seemed very expensive compared with UPS or FedEx. However, everything is expensive these days, so there is no need to complain too much. Overall, I had a positive experience and would return. read more

This happened a few months ago and I didn't really think about leaving a review but this morning I was checking to see if they were open and I noticed all the negative reviews. I agree with them all. Like I said it was a few months ago I went in to return a pair of Ray Ban Meta glasses they had sent me the wrong tint. I walked in and it was crowded I stood in line for a while and the lady behind the counter anounced that if we were dropping off a package and it would fit through the drop off slot to go ahead and put it in there instead of having to stand in line. Okay a few of us did. Well 3 days later I checked the tracking and nothing a few days after that nothing again. It was never scanned. I went to the post office and explained the situation and I was told that packages are not scanned until they get to the Los Angeles Annex, unless of course you hand it directly to the person behind the counter but nothing that goes down the shute gets scanned there. I asked her if she could look around the bin they are supposed to fall into she said -oh no that couldn't have happened then she continued to ask me was I sure I dropped them off maybe I meant to but never really did she told me I should look inside me car real good or maybe they are still at my home. I told her exactly what day what time I was there and the only reason I put them in the chute is because of her announcement. So again I asked her to please humor me and look around the bin. She told me to go push a button next to the door next to the chute and someone would come help me. I did and I waited there for 37 minutes at that point I wanted to see how long it would actually take them to come help me. In the mean time I can hear them talking and laughing in the back. I did ring the bell a few times. No one ever came. I went back to the counter and explained my situation again to the same lady she acted like she had never heard my story before, she asked me for the tracking number and when she punched it up she said -well that package has never been scanned there is no tracking for it. No shit. again she started with are you sure you dropped it off here at this post office, maybe you were going to but got busy and forgot. It took everything I had to not jump over that counter and shake her. I asked her if it was possible to see the footage of the camera pointed right at the outgoing chute, she said whats that going to prove, well that I walked in and put a package down the chute. The only one that can request to see the footage is the Post Master General, and he will never approve that he would need to see a warrant in order to do that. I called the post office, no one could help me because my tracking number was never scanned, one person finally after the second day of talking to them opened up a lost package complaint but again told me that without a tracking there was really nothing that could be done. But he said don't give up hope it might have just got stuck in the cage in transit or fallen out of the bag and sometimes when that happens its finally found and scanned and it shows tracking then. I asked why certain packages that leave the Downey Post Office on Imperial Hwy don't get scanned before they leave there not until they arrive in Los Angeles. Well do you have a tracking number of the package that was not scanned there before it left. Wow at that point I started questioning my sanity and the ingnorance of some people. You know the main thing that really bothered me was being dismissed by the lady at the post office, I didn't just go in there once or twice I went in there twice a week for the following 3 weeks and each time I was told I must be mistaken that I probably just don't remember. How hard would it have been for her to say -sure hang on let me go look around the bin that the mail is supposed to fall into-just once and I would have been satisfied. But when you are treated like you or your time or package don't matter that just an insult and she was very blatant on her tone and words with that insult. Needless to say the package was never scanned found or delivered. I saved up to buy those Meta glasses so that also hurt. But being dismissed and insulted and not asked but told that I made a mistake they I never really dropped them off, maybe I meant to but forgot. I'm still hoping someday all of a sudden I will get a email from the company I was sending them back to saying they have recieved them. Anyways I don't go to that post office anymore. She acted so smug and condesending. read more

so this afternoon, I get a random guy on my porch with a yellow envelope, just a random guy. He knocked on my screen door, and I said, can I help you!? He said that he was at the post office doing something, and they randomly gave him the letter that I was trying to send off. They asked a random stranger to deliver my mail to my house! That's totally unacceptable and unprofessional! I do not appreciate a stranger that doesn't work for the postal office to deliver mail back to my house! The guy was wearing a regular T-shirt and sweats, he said he walked in to do something, and they randomly gave it to him and asked him to deliver it back to me! Why couldn't you guys have an actual it back to my house the proper way!? Like seriously that is not OK! I do not need a random stranger. This post office is terrible. I've had horrible experiences in trying to retrieve my mail. The hours are always changing and are not followed when they are changed. Would to go retrieve mail at 6am when they open and still closed at 6:10am. Then hours changed to 6:30 and waited until 6:40 and no signs of anyone coming to open the lobby. As someone who has a PO Box and travels for work this is VERY frustrating, because my schedule changes and it is a guessing game to retrieve *Update: 4 Days later...paper posted schedule was removed. Staffs are always super nice and welcoming. I almost always go to this post office, the lines are shorter if not any, services are always quick and professional. Some times I'd drop off packages with prepaid labels and asked for drop off receipts to be safe. They always print them out for me with no problems. Unlike the USPS in Rowland heights on nogale, they will do everything they can to not give you a receipt unless you purchase from them. Which is absolutely unbelievable, because after many incidents, I called USPS, it is their job to print out drop off receipts. But Rowland heights USPS will NOT under any circumstances. Therefore, this location has became my goto! Kudos to Claudia, she's the one who helped me today. Super sweet and professional, with a big smile too. read more

Downey has several post offices and although the main post office is closer I prefer this one. It's somewhat newer than the main one. It's smaller in size and limited with access and parking since they added the island on Imperial Hwy. a few years ago. Inside they have P.O. Boxes, packing supplies such as boxes and packaging envelopes, etc. Customer service is always on point as they have 3 stations and the line always moves quickly. read more

I'm really disappointed in this location. Whenever I go, they have such attitudes. What's upsetting me most though is that I'm currently in Washington state and needed to mail important documentation back home through this location to my mother whom I live with. I made the mistake of not making a signature required so even though the mail was supposed to get there 2 days later by 6 p.m. my envelope said it was "delivered" not even half a day later at 9 in the morning when my mail back home doesn't even get delivered until the afternoon. My brother is home as well and nothing arrived. It's now 6 days later and I'm being thrown around in circles and they not only won't refund me because it says "delivered" but my mail is lost. No one can track where my mail is. I'm on the verge of tears because of how important this mail was. I'm so upset with them and myself for trusting them. read more

The people who work there don't care at all about costumer service etiquette. They are rude and sometimes disrespectful. This is one example among others. I was returning something from eBay and the label had the weight of package wrong. It weighed more than what it was on the label provided to me by eBay. The lady took my package and just threw it angrily onto her desk, hitting her own fan and dropping it to the ground in the process. Enjoyed my experience at this US Post Office location. The staff was helpful and friendly. I walked in with stuff to mail, and the woman was super helpful from start to finish. She guided me to the selecting the right packaging so that I wasn't spending more than needed to providing me with packaging tape so that I could get the box securely wrapped up. The other woman at the desk was great with finding the most efficient and cost effective way for my package to get to its recipient. Overall, good and pleasant experience at this USPS office. read more

Service is not great at all. Rude, unhelpful service. the front mail box is sealed with tape and a lock. no drive thru drop off here, and when you drop them off in the mailbox inside they do not scan them until like 2 days later, meaning if you have deadlines on shipping they will not scan them this shows laziness in this facility.This is a big WARNING to online sellers. there is no structure. I had asked for help regarding their Priority Mail and I was told to look at the signs for information. I rather have a self serve service machine here, I personally think the machine would do a better job than the actual person that sits around and does basically nothing. getting paid to not attend customers must be nice read more

They tried to deliver a package while I was out of the country so I went to pick it up. They closed at 5 but I walked in at 5:05 & they were still helping people so I got in line. After waiting a few minutes in line, with 2 other people ahead of me about to be helped, the worker then tells me they're closed. Tried to quickly explain I just wanted to see if my package was there & she just kept repeating they were closed. Like I didn't get it. Tried to ask if it'll be returned to sender at a certain point & again all she says is "we're closed!" So I left. What I needed didn't even require a transaction. THE STAFF IS SO RUDE! The employee I am specifically referring to an asian man with glasses. I would not even give this place one star if it were possible. This post office is terrible. There are some nice people in there but I shipped a large box filled with shoes to my daughter in August and it simply walked away from the Downey location. They refused to give me back my money for shipping because it not fit the requirements for a refund. I just think that if the box walked away they should give you back your money because the service was provided. Furthermore, they bounced me from one place to the other without anyone taking any responsibility for my loss, inconvenience or frustrations. read more

Visited this morning to buy stamps and found that the manager was shutting down the operation because the "system" was down. She explained that this was the third time this has happened. I asked for the District Manager's name so I could write him a message and ask if he could please look into the issues with the "system". The snorkel mail box outside the office has been vandalized several times and the hole in the south wall of the building has been damaged for weeks. Looks like the folks at the south station are doing all they can to provide good customer service but the higher cluster of administrators don't seem to be supporting the unit. I rushed here directly from work to be able to pick up my package and got there right as they were closing. The doors were not locked and they were still attending customers so I explained what i was here for. The lady at the register took my slip to be able to retrieve what I needed and it was snatched by the other older woman working there yelling consistently that they were closed. I came twice yesterday to be able to pick up and the package wasn't available. By the time I filled out my slip for redelivery she was asking me a bunch of questions as if she was concerned about me getting my package as if she didn't just get finished yelling at me for being there when they were closing. It was extremely unprofessional and an allover unpleasant experience to be yelled at continuously like if I was some child. It could have easily been dealt in a different manner. I work 6 days a week so I won't be home to be able to sign for anything and I had to spend an extra 5 minutes calling relatives to see if they can be there when it is delivered to fill out a form, when it would have taken less than that to be able to get my package. Mail carriers had nasty attitude too and just refuse to deliver your packages even though you sign the notice it looks like the put down their personal problems with apartment buildings managers before providing good customer services to client who has nothing to do with their personal problems. my mail carrier just refuse to deliver my package to the manager's office because she had a problem with him in the past. why is that my fall? if I signed the notice and ask to leave it at manager's office she needs to do it. and that's not her business or problem their the worse in customer service the person answering the phone today told me to seat at home and wait for my package Saturday. how about that??? read more
