Called the Hillsborough P.O to ask for a mail hold on the express mail pkg the came in and was gonna be available for delivery. RON was nice enough to call me to come pick it up. When leaving the car wouldn't start. I jumped it to get to the P.O.. That worked but when leaving it wouldn't turn over. I forgot to take my cables with me so Ron who called me located a set of jumpers and got a carrier to swing by and jump me in the parking lot. I want to thank and commend Ron and the staff for bailing me out today. They were very kind and curious and willing to help. Thanks Ron. You saved me today. A mail hold ending was marked as to be delivered upon ending last Thursday, 3 delivery days ago, but as of today, nothing. To call the branch is a bit of an ordeal as it goes through a national switchboard whose option to reach the actual post office is buried and changed, the only type of updates they can make to their phone system. Post office staff here make a big stink whenever one picks up mail before the mail hold ends which does them a service and yet when it ends, they reneg on delivering so their protocol is driven not by actual rules, rather, what seems least laborious which is understandable and understood by all who've long lived here. Aside, the non-delivery services such as the non-delivery-related retail inside the post office are atypically fine, basic, even if agonizingly slow, even slower than adjacent post offices' happier staff. read more

One of the better Post Offices I've been to. The self-service kiosk is great. This location is open 24/7 for PO boxes and self-service kiosk use. The customer service counter is open M-F 10:00 am - 5:00 pm M-F, Sat 9:00 am - 2:00 pm and, closed Sunday. Most of the customer service folks are friendly but there is one lady at the far left register who always gives everyone attitude even for simple transactions. Welcome to USPS. read more

4 stars because: It's the best USPS I've ever had the pleasure of going to, but they could use more stock. So glad it's now my home post office. I don't get all the bad reviews to be honest. I've been using USPS to ship for years and every post office I've been to left a lot to be desired. They were fraught with customer service that was slow, unhelpful, unpleasant attitudes or were straight out rude. The wait times were also ridiculous. Most were all small and cramped as well. But this USPS has been the best by far. The building is the largest I've been to. It is big and spacious and the cleanest too. The best thing though is the number of staff and their customer service. I've been here quite a few times now. Each and every time, the stations actually had people in them working. Most USPS I'd go to, even if there were 3 work stations, there would only be 1 or 2 people working. There are usually 3 people working the stations at this location and I appreciate that so much. We get to skip those DMV lines. And yes, customer service. I'm not sure if they changed the staff or their training method, but I've found this location to have the best customer service of any other USPS. They're nice, quick and know what they're doing. I mean is it 5 star resturant service? No, but it's the best you're going to get at a USPS in NJ and that's reason enough. They don't really have a good "shopping" section where they sell cards or wrapping supplies. It's pretty bare bones in that department is the only reason I took off a star. So I have a great respect and admiration for the US Postal service and my Hillsborough post office specifically. I have had some issues over the years with the actual mail truck driver and the misdelivery of mail and driving over my lawn. The incorrect delivery of mail is rare now but the lawn part has been hit or miss. My neighbor has even had to resort to putting up a permanent traffic cone to stop the driver from driving over his lawn and drain pipe. Picture a quiet, historic part of town and a bright orange traffic cone, not aesthetically pleasing but what other choice is there. Hence my photo where you can actually see where the driver has enough sense to turn the wheel to avoid the cone, but not until my lawn was already destroyed. Do I need to put up cones as well to save my lawn? Worst part was the call I received from the postmaster the next day after entering a complaint online. Basically she said I shouldn't have left the complaint online and should instead stand outside my home and wait for the mail carrier and voice my complaint directly with him/her. I'm all for direct courses of action but I don't have the luxury of waiting for hours at my mailbox to have a conversation with my mail carrier. What can I say, I'm very frustrated that I've registered this specific complaint so many times with no improvement but again I also have a lot of respect for the post office and it's workers. read more

US Post Office - My poor lawn :( - Mailbox Centers Near Me - Hillsborough, New Jersey

Went there today to be told that they don't stock the regular Priority Mail boxes and only stock the Flat Rate Priority Mail and Express Priority Mail. Even though they have signs in the lobby for regular Priority Mail and even an empty slot on rack with the other boxes, apparently they only have those boxes "if customers return them". Seems like a mix of false advertising and lazy supply ordering. I've never had a problem getting these boxes at the post office before, so I asked if this was a new policy change and was told no, they just don't order them. For me, a website gave me a prepaid label that only works on the regular priority mail box, and these are supposed to be free at the post office. The associate told me that they don't have room to stock these boxes, but to me it seems like an attempt to drive revenue by not stocking free boxes to try to get people to buy their other shipping supplies. This is one of the larger Post Offices in the area. They have the room if they choose to have the room. read more

Going to the post office itself is a nightmare. There is only ever one register open despite how big the place is. The clerks are unhelpful, unfriendly, and move at an impossibly slow sloth's pace, no matter how long of a line is building up. The wait times here leave you silently screaming inwardly in frustration. I am giving 3 stars because my mailman of many years, Ron, deserves a freakin award. He is super friendly and consistently goes above and beyond to ensure packages are delivered on time. I have never had any issues with receiving the correct mail and it is nice knowing I can fully rely on my mail carrier to get the job done right. read more

The worst costumer service EVER !! I've been here at least 3 times already, the first I thought maybe the clerks are having a bad day. Second time with the same lady, she was rushing me. I told her the address she put in was incorrect and she said "I don't care, it's where it's telling me it's going" I got so upset! It was too late for me to go to another PO and it was an urgent! This has to be the worst post office I have ever been to. While the building is technically open 24 hours for the use of the automated services, there is only a small window every day that you can expect to be assisted by a real human. If by the off-chance you do manage to make it in during their open hours, make sure you pack a lunch. Prepare to be greeted by a perpetual line of 10+ customers. Usually, there is only one clerk working even though there are three registers and more than enough customers to justify staffing a second. The clerks don't ever seem to make any haste or have respect for the fact that people stand in this line for such a long time. It seems like they know every customer and need to have personal conversations with all of them. ***I'm actually standing in line right now and have been for over 15 minutes; there are still four people in front of me.*** My favorite part of the experience today was when a woman who appeared to be some sort of manager came out to a side window and asked the line of 12 people (yes, I counted) if anyone was picking up certified mail. Nobody was so she just stood at the window, staring at all of us. She made no efforts to help quell the line, just sat there looking at everyone as if this was acceptable. read more

Made a appt for my daughters passport with photos. Went in and was told the camera was not functioning and and to come back. Got photos in Cvs and came back after dropping my daughter back to school. I've been to this place a few times and some of the workers do kinda suck, but recently I had an issue with a stolen package and a worker named Ameer was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. Get a notification from a online business that i bought something from that it was delivered a few days ago.. I looked around outside,, no package,, Checked USPS tracking and it stated that notice was left at 1230 pm because no one was home. I don't think so I work third shift and that is the time I am getting ready for bed. The mail lady was just to lazy to come knocking on our door. Service is horrible at the post office on so many different levels. They don't scan packages because this way when they lose packages the post office doesn't have to take responsibility for it ever being there. The amount of packages that never leave that building on the day they are dropped off is ridiculous. I don't know if there is not enough room on the trucks or what the problem is but packages sit around in that building and don't get shipped the day they are dropped off (hence the reason they don't scan anything). read more

I ordered t-shirts from a company 3 weeks before our vacation. I started to panic the day before our trip when I realized we never got our shirts. I called the company the next moring to find out they just mailed our shirts and according to the tracking it would be dropped off that day by our fabulous mail man. Our mail man is amazing, but doesn't get to my development till after 5pm. Not good since car service was picking us up at 3. I spoke to Tom my fed ex guy and he was able to make a few calls and put me in touch with another Hillsborough carrier. He gave me the number to the post master and she was amazing. I explained our issue and told her I would be happy to meet him along his route so I wouldn't have to inconvenience him. The Post master called me back within minutes and said my package will be at the front door soon. Thank you for going above and beyond for my family read more

Idk why so many negative reviews.. This is the Post office. GVT civil service agency. Seriously i go to several different post offices and the line waiting time is standard... Service they handle millions of pieces of mail.. They are humans. Happens part of life. Humans make mistakes. Computer programming/operating systems have "glitches". I go to the post office i expect to wait in a line. Unless ur in the middle of (insert ur gave cheesy cliche) there u can expect a line. Thankfully u can now print labels online. No. Wait. Drop. It off on counter and away. U go. Unless u sell on an app that doesn't pay until tracking says delivered. Honestly what GVT run/funded agency isn't understaffed?!?! The hours are a bit odd but it does have a 24 hr self servic lobby if u just need stamps or to mail a package... I cant speak of the passport services here didnt get mine here. What makes this post office rate above the other 4 or so i frequent is the staff. May (pronounced MY.. not sure how to spell it) and the other girls (cant recall their names except for June. Lololm. My and June. Prob why i remembered their 2 names.. But June is gone.shes gone and she is never coming back baby shes gone ) they make the difference. Friendly and helpful. So i Just strap on my headphones and make sure i have a device w/me to work on/mess around and pass the time in the line as pleasantly as possible... At least i will be greeted by a friendly face when it is my turn... Sorry to whomever gets annoyed by the personal greeting and convo cos it could very well be me that is talking it up w/a clerk usually it is just a friendly greeting w/common courtesy comments about whatever is trending atm. The weather.. U know light hearted affairs.. Then an amiable fare thee well to the clerks.. Usully to chagrin of others in line as i walk by on the way out. I don't let that get ittome though.. If I could give this sh*thole 0 stars I would. What's odd about the open weekday hours here is that they open at 10 am and close at 5 pm. Inconvenient enough not to be open on your way to work and close not a second after 5:00 pm before you can get home after work. Not sure how they get away with these weird hours. I wish I could have these same hours from my own employer. Service is slow and workers lack any sense of urgency that people have other things to do but wait on line. Open up all three counters but that would make too much sense for the Postmaster to do. Worst. read more

Awful. Trying to mail a package here is like standing in a Kazakhstan breadline. The machine is almost always out of ink or labels, so you're forced to stand in the line. If by some miracle the machine does work, bring a pen, because it doesn't print street addresses on the label. Everything the first 2 reviewers state is absolutely true. I remember when everyone was so excited because Hillsborough finally got its own post office and we didn't have to drive to Somerville. Now things have gone downhill for some time. I really dislike going there because you can't get in and out reasonably quickly. The personnel is slow with no sense of urgency when people are waiting, which is most of the time. It really amazes me that they don't staff the place properly, and with people that have respect for your time. The place needs a personnel overhaul.
