Very disappointed in the two day service for flat rate boxes. Sent my friend in Las Vegas some bread from our favorite bakery called Nene Goose. Mailed it on Monday morning at 10:00 am. Box never got processed till Tuesday and didn't leave till Wednesday did my tracking and they aren't going to get it till Saturday. We've always sent boxes to family on East Coast and they usually get it within two to three days. Recently a box sent to East Coast took one week thought it was a fluke so didn't think much to send this box of bread to Las Vegas it will have taken five whole days sure hope that the bread is edible. Hmmmmm! This particular post office clerks are not nice at all they literally make you feel like you're inconveniencing them. They also make up their own rules as they go and when you tried to enter the zip code on your receipt to put in a review directly with usps it's says invalid so that's why I'm on yelp warning anyone trying to go here to send off their boxes or mail you're better off trying Aiea or Pearl city they're more friendly and very welcoming also knowledgeable about usps services. Yelp needs to create a no star cause this location deserve that than a star at all! read more

Its been over a year and I have yet to hear from USPS who is fully aware of their scanners in the Honolulu, Hawaii distribution department theft. I mailed a greeting card (bright orange envelope) with very sentimental yet expensive solid gold chain ($600+). I tracked it as I do anything I ship and saw that it went from my local Post Office in 96825 to the Honolulu Distribution Center by the Honolulu Airport. It was scanned there but never loaded or left. After filing a claim, I found out from speaking to an insider that theft happens often, with their highest peak at Christmas and Mother's Day. What makes me angry is that the USPS has the most technologically advanced system in the world with unimaginably high-tech scanner, sensors, x-ray, CAMERAS, etc... Anyone who knows the smallest bit about USPS knows there's security cameras yet they won't catch the scumbag their they hired as a scanner? Those crooked, low-life punks have this corrupt mentality that makes them view scanning for safety as a shopping spree. They see, they steal. THERE'S NO DAMN WAY THEY CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHO STOLE MY BELOVED TWIN SISTER'S GOLD CHAIN! If it was the 'Hope Diamond', they would've caught it before I could even notice. I'm going to start making a list of the problems I have with USPS. 6/15/20 - This post office accidently sent my package to the Eva Beach post office and it took another week for it to finally get pack to the Airport post office. And another week for them to deliver it. Paid for 2 day express and got it in over two weeks. 9/5/20 - Sent a letter to Canada and spent $24 to two day certified shipping. Letter contains a money order. Days later USPS tracking shows it hasn't even been shipped. Post office doesn't know where it is. Letter showed up 3 weeks later in Canada through regular mail. Paid $24 dollars just to have it sent out regular mail. 12/10/20 - Box from Amazon looks it was kicked around and stomped on. Package abandoned at my front door for anyone to steal. One of the items in the box, a camera is broken. Luckily Amazon has a good return policy. 4/23/21 - Instead of placing my small package from Amazon in the parcel locker it was folded and shoved in my small mailbox. Tablet screen protectors are now bent and warped and have to be returned. Again, thankfully Amazon has a good return policy. 8/1/21 - Tracking says my package was delivered but it has not been. We drop off flat rate boxes to the counter several times a week at the Airport Post Office. Most of the workers are friendly, but some of them are not and shouldn't be working in the front lines dealing with their customers that keep them in business. Several times the flat rate boxes go "missing" for more than several days with no explanation after calling the post office. These flat rate boxes are sent to various locations, including within Oahu, to neighbor islands, and to the mainland U.S. Most recently, more than a handful of flat rate boxes has gone "missing" which are to be delivered to the Kunia post office. This typically has taken 1-day, but now have been missing for 5-days with total contents that are worth good money. We now need to consider insuring and/or requiring signature upon delivery or find some other alternatives to getting things delivered, especially for items that do not even go off-island.... UPDATE: found out at least one flat rate box was sent by the Honolulu Airport Post Office to the WRONG city on the Big Island so the box was sent back to the Honolulu Airport Post Office to be sent to the right city on the Big Island.... Does that make sense at all?? The labels are pre-printed using Stamps.Com and are clearly printed.... read more

The thing that I like best about this location is how late it is open! If I want to make sure a package gets sent out the same day, I can drop off my package as late as 7:55 pm because last pick up is at 8 pm. To beat the long lines, you just need to make sure to get postage ahead of time. It can be done on the United States Post Office website at www.usps.com. If you don't mind the lines, you can stand in line. Long lines are hit or miss usually. Sometimes they're there. Sometimes they're not there. Parking is plentiful and there is almost a parking stall available. I find that traffic to and from here are not too bad most of the time. This is a great post office to stop by if you live close by or if you tend to ship stuff late. read more

I don't know why people are posting about the mail post office area in this Yelp entry. This is where you go for turning in the passport applications. It is behind the main post office. Get there by driving past the post office like you're going back to Nimitz and turn right onto the service road. There are red signs with arrows to show you where to go. It is next to the cell phone waiting area. Make sure to park in the first lot where the stalls are labeled for the US Passport people. (See pictures posted in picture area.) Call ahead to make an appointment. I was able to make an appointment within 3 days. Make sure you call during work hours. Also if they don't pick up, it's better to call back later instead of leaving a message. The staff were nice and helpful. Bring all documents ahead of time. If you're not sure what to bring, ask when you call them to make an appointment. That's what I did. The entire process from check in to paying and leaving took maybe 10 minutes. There was a family finishing when I arrived and another person starting when I left. read more

They come to our building and will not even take our fricken elevator and drop off a package at our door. The lazy asses will take the package all the way back to the post office for pick-up. 2 stars because there are two women who are friendly. The rest of my experience: Slow. Rude. Lose packages but you cannot do anything about it if its not priority. (Basically they could steal your package if its first class and that would be the end). EMPLOYEE NAMED CHRIS: I came in with 2 bins of packages. I dropped them off in the pre-paid section. Stood in line to get a few more bins which I use for my packages. Him: Next Me: Hi, can I have a few bins please? Him: Four? Me: Yeah, 4 is good. Him: (Nasty attitude voice) NO, I SAID FORRRRRRRRRRR? For what? We only give these to businesses! Me: (Sarcastic attitude) I ammmmmmm a businessssss...I use these to put my packages innnnnnnn. She gives them to me, I say thank you and "where did the other guy go!?" She claimed she didn't know who I was referring to and WALKED AWAY TOO! I take my bins, wait outside the door and literally 10 seconds later Chris comes back, sees me and literally makes a hand gesture as he's telling me to go like shoe fly don't bother me. The line at this post office moves pretty fast, but there is one particular worker that I dread dealing with. He's an older gentleman and he generally sounds like he does *not* want to be there, but I've seen him working there for several years so it must mean he's got some amount of competence. The other workers there, however are very friendly and patient with your questions. If you're sending something within Oahu this is the best place to go to if you need it *tomorrow* since the final collection time is at 8:00 PM. Most other mailboxes are collected during the day so if you end up having to drop it off after work you will be behind a day. read more

Who reviews a US Post Office? I do, apparently. I had to mail a package today and I was not really looking forward it. However, I went to the United States Postal Service office at the airport and I was really impressed! First of all, there was plenty of parking. Secondly, even though the line was long, it moved very quickly. That was due to the four smiling postal workers that were working the counter. That's right, I said, "smiling." It was quite unexpected to see postal workers doing their jobs so happily. I mean... where did the term, "going postal" come from anyway? As I moved through the line, I watched them work. They genuinely looked like they wanted to be there and were glad to be helping their customers ship their parcels. When I got my turn at the counter, I got the same friendly service and broad smile. The nice lady who helped me was so affable, I took the opportunity to ask her to confirm a theory I had heard but was unsure whether or not to believe. Well, it's true. She confirmed it. If you need to mail something to the mainland, and you need it to get there fast, you can get it there one day faster by mailing it from this Airport location. Convenient. Although I now pay my bills online, I do appreciate the convenience of this post office as its the closet one near my home. Throughout the years I have mailed many packages, envelopes, cards, tax returns, as well as purchasing untold numbers of books of stamps. I also remember the staff being quite helpful the first time I had to mail a registered letter. In recent years, I was also able to apply, pay, and submit paperwork for my passport at this location, which I can say was quite efficient and organized. There is ample parking available, though the lot can get crowded during peak times of the year: i.e. Christmas holiday and tax season (possibly less now than in the past due to the advent of E-filing). One aspect I am most thankful for: the drive-thru/dropoff mailboxes. Very convenient if you have postage already. Just simply drive up to the row of mailboxes and drop off your mail. So I ordered items off eBay and although the tracking said it was delivered I didn't have my stuff. As this location is at the airport I wasn't a happy camper to make the drive here to attempt to locate my package (after I called numerous times and them not answering the phone). I got in line and to my surprise they had more than 2 agents working the counter! I had some other packages that needed to be mailed and Tracy explained a cheaper way to mail my packages (the post office telling me how to save money? That's new). I felt like I was now holding up her line however she was extremely patient and friendly and didn't rush me. This is when I told her I was missing my packages. She went and got her supervisor and she was patient as I scrolled through my email messages looking for tracking numbers. She took my information and left to go look for my packages; when she came back she explained that the delivery driver was out but she took my information and said she would call me (which I had little faith in but I gave to her anyways). So the next day I was surprised when Annette called me stating that my packages would be delivered that day and they were sorry for any inconvenience. Talk about good customer service. This is a very convenient location, they have late hours (especially during the holidays), there's always parking (unlike a certain Makiki branch that is always busy), and my packages always go out quicker since it is already at the airport. Of course one of their greatest inventions is having branches (not all do) with those convenient easy to use self serve kiosks to mail letters or packages. I cannot tell you how many times I've ran to one of those machines AFTER HOURS to get a package out or stood in a much shorter line for it rather than waiting for an actual teller. What can I say about a Post Office? It's, uh, a Post Office. Yes, they have parking (to be expected), they have mail boxes (to be expected), they have flat boxes and stamps for sale (to be expected), and they have a lack of quality customer service (to be expected). To be fair, when I went there today to send my 'going to be late' Mother's Day card (sorry mom), the young lady behind the counter was actually kinda nice. To her credit, she tried to upsell me the 'Express' service to guarantee my mom's card would arrive on Monday. That's fine and dandy, but Mother's Day is Sunday, so I'm already in trouble. I almost bit until she revealed it would cost me $18+ to send Express vs. the $1.30 to send it traditional 'snail mail.' You know what I chose - I'm poor. I'm hopeful mom will understand. It looks kinda hum-drum in this Post Office - the Waipahu location looks more cheery than here. I know the Post Office continues to lose billions of dollars, and I can't help but think it might be more than just folks not licking stamps and mailing paper letters (although I text and e-mail a whole lot more than write hand-written letters). They need a pick-me-up and a new business model. Perhaps mango and periwinkle on the walls, candy racks and soda coolers near the walls, 'I Love You' stickers for all the kids, and Express Mail that's not 1,800% more expensive than normal mail. This is the Headquarters Airport Post Office Location so I always expect traffic, lines and impatient customers. Today I shipped out three tubs to California. Upon arrival the post office set up a Prepaid Shipping drop box location to help alleviate some post office congestion. This was the first time I ever been to the post office where the lines were wrapped around the building and lobby area. The longest line was the international shipping line; luckily I was shipping domestic so my line was moving smoothly and the line wasn't terribly long. I was serviced by Kristen who was more then accommodating, polite and held a smile on her face even though it had already been a long day for her I'm assuming. It took no more than 30 min in line to the counter. I recommend this location because the service is always prompt and courteous. read more

USPS technical supports automated messages is messed up. It just automatically assumes you picked a certain selection even before you get to pick. It's very frustrating. All I needed to do was print my label and send a document, but since my printer stopped working I decided to stop by to see if they can print it for me. However, i had to wait in line for 45 minutes. I spoke to two associates that were standing doing NOTHING and told them that all I have to do is print the label and it's ready to send and they told me that I had to wait. Which I didn't really mind, but what pissed me off was that once I made it to the window the associate told me that I had the wrong envelope and I needed to buy a new one for my 2 paper document. I've been buying the same size envelope from them for the past 3 years for the same size document exactly as the website recommends. This is not the first time that I have a bad experience by associates that have no idea of what they are doing and it isn't the first that that I get wrong information from this specific location. read more

First and foremost..Click N Ship is the best thing since sliced bread! You can totally bypass any line by simply printing your own labels out at home and then just simply dropping them off in one of the Click N Ship areas at the post office. This includes international shipping as well. I personally like dropping my packages off here since it is the "main" post office. If you drop them off anywhere else then they still have to go through here. Only on occasion do I have to wait in line to do anything since I do most things online. But when I do have to wait in line it goes fairly quickly since they always have ample people working. You do still have the morons that work there, but you are more apt to get higher authority help when you ask for it compared to other post offices on the island. I want to note the passport policy here. I am on my 4th passport and living here is the first time in my life that I have ever had to make an appointment at a post office to turn in passport paperwork. Normally if you have all forms filled out they will give it the once over, do their thing and press on with it. Not here, appointments are mandatory and there are no special circumstances whatsoever...strange. When you do make an appointment, please know that the first available will probably be a month out. If you go to the passport office you will need to make an appointment as well...so mox nix. read more

Today, we had to mail in our passport applications. Lisa was very knowledgeable​ and told us everything we needed to know to get it mailed off, including a money order, the total cost and if we wanted to expedite it back. She is the expert. There was even a customer that needed her help at the other end of the cashier​ counter, and she helped both of us simultaneously without skipping a beat. Now that's service! This post office is small but very friendly. I've always had great customer service from the workers here. This is a convenient location and has mailboxes at the curb for speedy drop off too. They have a lot of flat rate and priority boxes too in the from to grab and go. Since this is at the main post office and right by the airport, I think the mail and packages go out faster than any other place. Being the main post office, you'd think they would have a slightly larger parking lot. I was slightly disappointed to also see they now offer paid parking for "airport" use...I suppose they might as well take advantage of it since people are going to park there anyway. But still it makes it more bothersome for those actually trying to go to the post office. Thankfully, I just had a small envelope I needed to buy postage for & drop but I had to park all the way at the end, by the exit. I saw several others parking around me who were shipping boxes & struggled to carry two or three at a time. When I approached the building, I noticed they have a self-serve kiosk area outside. Hooray! There was NO WAY I was going to wait in the ridiculous line inside for one tiny envelope. I was able to use the self-serve electronic machine to purchase the postage for my envelope & it even allows you to purchase insurance. The machine takes you step by step through the entire process & prints out the postage & the insurance label for you. Then, there are drop slots right next to it. I was on my way in about 5 minutes. I wish that all USPS locations had this same service! read more

This post is intended for the Honolulu Sorting Facility. I'm am so frustrated and beyond sick and tired of the same problem repeatedly occurring. This will be the 4th time a package I ordered arrives at this facility and instead of being sent out to me, they ship it else where?? Why the hell is that?! Yesterday two boxes from the same company was suppose to arrive here in Waianae, one of them arrived the other got shipped to Lihue Maui. Seriously!! I wish I knew how to file a formal complaint I would. I pay to have these packages delivered to Hawaii, which is $14 something extra and for it not to arrive when expected because a mistake on their part is absolutely unacceptable! Honestly I'm amazed this place has so many good reviews. I've had countless issues, which can rarely be resolved in a timely manner due to the fact that no one has EVER answered the phone when I've called. Clerks are rude, uninformed, and make you feel like you're inconveniencing them by sending anything out. This post office is also responsible for the mail in my neighborhood, and we have weekly issues of packages delivered to the wrong address, mailboxes left unlocked, and mis-delivered mail. Year after year I promise myself "this will be the year I don't procrastinate about sending out gifts to the mainland" and year after year I realize I'm a big fat liar. In 2013 I learned a very expensive lesson which was those who procrastinate for too long have only two options, UPS or Fed Ex and that was a $300 plus disaster. In 2014 determined to avoid 2013's mistakes, I made it to the post office on December 18, 2014 but arrived after normal business hours and ended up waiting in line for over an hour and a half in order to use the self-serve kiosks. This year, determined that 2015 would be the year of on time gifts and minimal time lost at the post office, I arrived at the post office during normal business hours on December 19. 2015. Despite the lot being busy, people were being courteous and I secured a spot relatively quickly. The main office was open, and Rudolph's Express Shipping Shack was open for those shipping three (3) packages or less. Both the main office and the Shipping Shack were extremely busy. Saddened, but not defeated, out of the corner of my eye I saw the self-service kiosks without a customer in sight. Energized by my good fortune, I made my way to the self-serve kiosks and was able to purchase postage for my packages and drop them off in less than five (5) minutes....and then I heard the angels sing. If you're reading this and thinking to yourself why would people wait in line versus do it themselves? Don't worry I was thinking the same thing. The kiosks are open 24 hours a day 7 days a week during the holidays, and they have suspended the paid parking as well to accommodate the holiday shipping rush. The post office offers a cheaper alternative to UPS and Fed Ex while offering the same quality of service and when using Priority Mail or Priority Mail Express you can track your packages without being stressed. One day I'll get my act together and get to the post office earlier in December, but until then, I'm grateful for this post office and their many shipping options, their organized parking lot and the holiday spirt all around. read more

I always love this post office. Located next to the airport and right off of Nimitz. Their parking area is a good size. They charge parking if you plan to be there longer. I would not be able to tell you since I am only there to drop off and purchase. It has a little mini mart located to the left of the entrance. To the right of the entrance is a self help area where you can box, purchase stamps and weight your package. Drop it in the proper area and complete your packing needs without having to go inside. They open the latest. 6pm closing which helps if you can not get to your neighborhood post office by 3/4pm. I rarely go inside and service by a personnel so I can not critic customer service. I live nearby, and when I'm in a panic and need to mail something out, I am so thankful that they are open late. But seriously, if it weren't for their hours, I would probably not even come to this post office. From the past few times I've been there, the workers are generally not very helpful. They expect that everyone knows their systems for how to send out packages, what needs to be done beforehand, etc. To someone who almost never, EVER sends out mail, it's not necessarily second-nature, and I don't appreciate feeling like I am being talked down to after waiting in line for 20 minutes, and trying my best to make this experience the best possible for the both of us. I understand that these workers are working later into the night than most people, and that they have to deal with a lot of people, but it's really not that hard to put a smile on your face.
