I left work at 4pm to make sure I got to USPS with enough time to be helped (store closes at 5) just to find out the doors were locked by 4:20 and I couldn't enter to retrieve my mail. Mail that is only on hold because I had to request a key that still has not arrived 7 weeks later. A last inside just stood there and looked at me and didn't open the door or even explain why they closed a full 40 minutes early. read more

Very rude lady who refers to herself as the United States Postal Service on voicemail (no name) insisted that my package was placed on the 2nd shelf in my building's package room by the carrier despite the fact that it was not there. I've reported the package missing twice (the merchant reshipped it) and she says since others have access to the room there's nothing else she can do. My word against theirs. She abruptly hung up the phone while I was talking! We can all agree nothing will be done about the lack of professionalism and apathetic attitude of certain staff at the Westport Post Office. read more

This post office is an absolute joke. We asked for a mail key two months ago, still do not have one. Our mail's been on hold at the post office, they let the hold expire after making a note on our hold request to "hold until receipt of mail key." Now we are waiting on medications, legal documents, insurance cards, and packages that are "delivered in/at mailbox" that we cannot access, and for the third day in a row, no help from the workers at this loccation. We were told multiple times the supervisor, Ms. Carter, would call us, she has not. We called, they told us to come back later today after the carrier came back from her route to get our packages/mail. They closed an hour early, so we were unable to retrieve anything - IF it's even there. If I could change what USPS office we use, I would. Infuriating with absolutely no care or understanding of the trouble it causes in peoples' day to day affairs - there were two other patrons experiencing the same issues as us when we went in today. Avoid using this USPS office like the plague. It may be more expensive, but FedEx or UPS is a far better option for any mailing needs than the headache this location is. read more

People here don't even do the bare minimum. Slow, careless and care less. This is a place that gives the USPS the poor reputation that it has. I'm always getting final notices at my house for packages that are the first notices I get. The carriers just don't want to deliver. And the clerks here move like glaciers. read more

People joke about ppl going postal. It's nothing to laugh at because honestly customers are rude, argumentative and just plain crazy. I've seen it multiple times. This particular location in Westport is more calm but less available as it is not open 24/7 as some of the other locations. I have had a post office box for about 3 years so I wish they would at least extend the lobby hours until 2pm on weekends or 6 on weekdays. However, the staff is professional and helpful. We have to keep the post office up and running because UPS and FEDEX prices are ridiculous. Plus, the last UPS drop location I visited, the guys were so presumptuous that I nearly walked out without mailing anything. I will continue to be a patient patron of the post office, especially this location. read more

I hate having to leave negative reviews, but this is just some of the most absurd stuff I've ever had to deal with. My mother attempted to send me a bed for my new apartment this week and they have said that it supposedly "can't be delivered" to my address because the business below my apartment is vacant. We gave very detailed instructions on how to deliver to us -- literally just take the package behind the building and up the stairs. When I called to inquire about what could be done, the woman on the phone not only called me ma'am (nice ) but she was also very condescending and rude the entire time. Not only do they not communicate well, but they often transfer customers to other posts offices that aren't even delivering to the right addresses! This post office just shouldnt try to do package delivery. Theres no real time tracking info to see, so you'll see "out for delivery" from 7 AM to 8 PM. It just doesnt work. This is the worst post office in the United States. I am whole heartedly convinced. I have had the blessing to live in 3 different US states and over 10 US cities. My experience with this post office is by far the worst customer service mankind can offer. During this year alone 2020 between March through July. Over 7 packages I have had shipped through USPS Westport post office have been deemed missing or the lock box can not open. I have to spend over 20 hours going to the the post to gain access to my post package box. On numerous Occassions I have had to wait for a mail person to open the box and no one has shown up. Today I went to the post office for a package that delivered. The mail person behind the counter gives me a lost package from May 2020. It is JULY!!!! If any business provided this atrocious customer service they would be out of existence. The only reason why this place is in existence is because a dependency we have for mail through in this town. If you need to mail anything or plan to move to this area don't do that! ( wish I could give a negative star review) read more

After two less than pleasant trips to other area post offices, I finally stumbled upon the Westport office. This location has a decent sized parking lot and a large area for PO boxes and an area to package your mail before you get in line. My visit here was close to Christmas day and in the late afternoon. There were only a few customers ahead of me, and there were two employees at the counter. I was in and out of here in less than 5 minutes. The employee who sold me my postage was very friendly and helpful. The only thing that detracts from this particular post office are the hours. It does not open until 0830. read more

I came here to mail an iPhone back to ATT and didn't have the return label printed. The lady at the front desk would not print it and had me run across the street to the library to print the label. Luckily it didn't take long to run over there and print it. I then returned to the post office again and grabbed an envelope and bubble wrap. All I needed to do was cut the wrap and flip it in the envelope but the lady made me get out of line to do these small steps. I waited in line 3 times before I was able to mail my box. Next times I'll drive further to the post office I normally go to where they are more helpful. read more

Nothing special or out of the ordinary about this location. I came Saturday morning to ship off a little care package for Halloween to my little sister and I was able to get in and out within 5 minutes. The people are friendly and the line moved quick. They seem to have everything that you would need and go thru all the normal "Would you like to add..." nonsense when you're checking out. All in all- not too bad. read more

Oh, the post office. No one goes there for fun... usually it's just on the day's to-do list sandwiched in between a visit to the grocery store and a doctor's appointment. The Westport Post Office has some incredibly indifferent employees at the counter. I don't know whether it's their fault they are understaffed, or whether they have that "I don't care how long you've waited" attitude but man... some days I've waited in line while employees just walked in and out of the counter area and didn't offer to ring someone up or grab a package while they were waiting. I rarely get eye-contact or a smile when I ship stuff here. I don't expect them to be all sunshine and tap dancing but it would be nice for them to smile or even possibly say sorry for the wait. Oh well. They are still conveniently located and I'll still have to keep on going here. read more

This location is the worst post office I've ever used. My building has a call box that is very easy to use, but consistently they just skip delivering to my building. No calling me to notify me that packages are trying to be delivered. This unacceptable and causes major headaches since I have to tell them to hold a package and then take time out of my day to pick it up. Do better. read more

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had. It started with the fact that it took them three months to get a mail key to me and then failed to call or email or even notify me when the key was done so I had to go to the post office multiple times just to check. They have an issue of leaving my packages at my apartment despite the directions stating to simply leave it at the door. Requiring me to either pick up the packages or try to have them redelivered. My family sends me packages with the two day priority and I have consistently gotten them two weeks late. If I could change the main post office of my home than I would but if you can avoid this place please do so because the service you receive there is also deserving of one star. read more

I really hate to say bad things about the post office but this location has been the worst. We didn't get our mail for a week. I received my diploma rolled up and ripped in my mailbox. An absolutely terrible company! They lost my package that I ordered, and did not tell me until I had to look to find out myself. I opened a case to find it, and they marked it as "resolved" days later by putting "Did not arrive with the recipient." They stopped looking for it after that. I had to call the main USPS branch before I found that out almost 10 days after my package was supposed to have arrived. They were just as confused as I was at the main branch why they did that, and contacted their supervisors who contacted me. The seller put insurance on the package, so I got my money back, but there is no way they can pay me for almost two weeks of wasted time. An absolutely terrible company, and I will be using other means to ship packages from now on. read more

Just today, found out that a package that was to be delivered to my job on Saturday was listed a "Failed delivery" because the company I work for was closed on Saturday but DHL e-commerce stated that this Post office handled the delivery and they were to deliver again on the next business day which was the Tuesday after Labor Day. So, I called this PO to see if in fact they would try to deliver or had a scheduled delivery for my package today. I dialed the number - the first time it was busy. So, I tried a second time -someone answered but never said anything. I kept saying hello...mind you, I could hear someone hanging up the receiver and picking it up again. This went on three more times before they finally hung up - never saying anything. When I called back again...you guessed it, BUSY!!!! HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. If you want to be helped you'd better be willing to walk up to the counter and shout for someone cause they are always hiding in the back. They say they deliver your packages (like mark them delivered) but never do and if you even get a slip in your mail box a few days after that it's a miracle. Just go in and ask for your packages. I am not one for hyperbole or exaggerations but I can confidently say this is the worst Post Office in the entire country. 1) There is always an enormous line almost to the door or out the door. They usually have one person working a register and four people wandering aimlessly behind the counter. They occasionally glance over and contemplate assisting the line but then ultimately decide to keep doing nothing. 2) One time I walked in right before 5 when they close and the woman locked the door in my face. This woman made direct eye contact with me as I was walking up to the door and turned the key. Of course, like I said before, there was a line to the door she was locking so I find it hard to believe she could not have just opened it one more time before locking it. 3) This was the post office that delivered mail to my apartment. About once every four months they would decide they were not going to deliver my mail to my apartment. Everything that was sent to me would be returned to sender. If I ever called this location anytime after the first five minutes they were open, no one picked up. I guess their policy of ignoring people extends to the phone lines as well as the physical lines in their store. In conclusion, this is the worst post office ever. Do yourself a favor and go anywhere else. read more

It's a great place to run into that waiter you don't like or nightlife acquaintance whose name you can't remember. Sometimes the staff is as sweet as the lines are long, and that's pretty damn sweet. I actually saw two employees on counter duty at the same time one day. It blew my damn mind. I'd never seen two employees helping customers at the same time. I stood in line for several minutes, just a few people away from being next to be helped, a long line of people waiting behind me. And then one of the employees closed her station and went on break as a dozen or more people looked on. It was 15 after the hour, it was her break time, she had no choice. At least once a month I get mail for someone else in my PO Box. It makes me wonder how often my mail ends up in other boxes. In other words, this post office is pretty much perfect in every way a post office can possibly be. 5 Stars!! read more

I dread going to the post office dealing with a dreaded long wait. This particular post office had one clerk working with 11 people in line..yes, I counted. However, the wait was entertaining as I listened to most of the patrons complain about the wait. The clerk at the register was rather efficient trying her best, in my opinion. I hear the clerk talking about the lazy a** working with her. hmm, I spot another woman off to the side fiddling with tape, moving some boxes around. She is trying to make herself "look busy." I know this due to my personal experiences of trying to do the same when I didn't feel like working. The Fiddler overheard the clerk comments and an sh*t talking contest ensued, not that I minded much..I'll admit it was entertaining, but oh-so unprofessional. I can't tell your how many times I get messages stating they tried to deliver my package and no one was home or that my package was delivered and it was not. Understaffed, poor customer service, and lack of knowledge about products sums up every experience I have had with this location. The only reason it is getting two stars instead of one was my most recent experience which was actually fairly pleasant. The only place worse than this is your run-of-the-mill DMV. The only reason this place is better is because the wait in line is slightly shorter...on a good day. My typical experience with this location is grumpy employees that don't know any answers to any questions you have. If you aren't just simply dropping something off, they look at you in disgust. Which is surprising seeing as how so many of the customers come in with a smile only to have it wiped off immediately. It takes a lot for me to leave a bad review in all honesty and I can't even pin point a specific example to showcase my disappointment in this Government run facility due to the sheer number of bad experiences I have had in the past. The employees tend to be short with people and disgruntled in general. This could be due to the fact that this location has what appears to be four customer service desks, one of which is actually occupied...two if you are lucky. The line is usually right up to the door but this is due to the small space in which it resides and the lack of customer service representatives present. The only exception to my bad experiences in the past was due to a ray of light named Regina. She was very patient with me and friendly on 4/8/15 which completely surprised me. I hope she sticks around to help us all in the future and doesn't become disgruntled like the rest of the employees that occupy space at the front desk. Regina deserves a raise for her kind, patient, and sweet demeanor. Let me tell you I tested her that day! I had no idea what I needed there and she was able to answer my questions and help me get my package shipped. Thank you Regina for all your help! Poor service, misdirected mail, inaccessible to contact by phone, all problems are stemming from the very top of the chain and not necessarily from that location alone. The USPS is going to probably be closing soon because all other delivery services are far more reliable and have great customer accessibility with their agents. The people who work there are nice, but they're told to up sell (stamps, greeting cards) and the process of mailing something takes a long time. During COVID, it's stressful to be stuck in there for so long. One person working had her mask falling off, well under her nose for the whole time I was there. I love my mail delivery people! They are the best. I have an address that is similar to another in the same area and FedEx and UPS always mess up, my mail people always bring it over to the right house when that happens. I love them. They can't seem to figure out how to deliver a package to me. My name is clearly on my Apartment mailbox. It was supposed to be delivered a week ago but they said that it is undeliverable because my name isn't on the box. I'm sorry but when you live in an apartment, your name has to be put on the box, otherwise nobody will get their stuff. I've called them everyday and have gone and spoken to them everyday but they just say that it will be delivered the next day. I mailed a packet of legal documents to an individual, clearly labeled with his name and home address, zip code 64012, and I mailed it certified restricted, receipt requested, so he was supposed to sign for them personally. They delivered the package to the IRS facility at 64999. WTF?! Not even the right zip code, much less who it's addressed to MUCH LESS the fact that I paid for all those extra services. Now I've got to take another half-day off work to go get the court papers redrawn, stamped by the clerk, do my part, get them notarized, and mail again....are you SERIOUS?? What a JOKE. read more
