All I can say is that I wish that they cloned this one. The postmistress is as nice as can be -- cheerful and helpful to the customer. That's true with other country post offices that I've dealt with, but I think that that the one in Callicoon Center is particularly noteworthy for the quality of service provided. There are plans afoot to shut rural post offices, and fortunately the Callicoon Center P.O. isn't on the hit list. One merchant, who lives some distance away in a different zip code, told me that he keeps a p.o. box at this post office because of its reputation for great service. I kid you not. This is the Nirvana of post offices. I buy all my stamps here, and I mail packages from here as much as possible because it's important to give business to rural post offices that are in danger of closing.

This is a small town place, they know everyone, and they also know whats going on around town. So if you need to learn anything, this is the spot to stop in. They always have stamps, can always mail something for you, help you find the right box and really make it a pleasant experience. Its a totally different feel in the country. Many of these offices are currently at risk of closing, but for many local people its one of their main sources of information, interaction and the like. Its important they remain open in these small town country areas.

It's like dealing with robots, not humans. The passport woman specifically was very unkind and quite frankly nasty. It takes nothing to be helpful or kind, especially when the place is dead and empty. It's worth driving to a further branch to complete something just to get a pleasant experience and not a tense scary one.

When I used to tend to dropping off packages from my home-based business a few short years ago, I…read moretended to always seem to remember this United States Post Office. I went there so much, he and I were always on a first-name basis with each other. And although he's now not there as much as he used to be, the others who are tend to be just as accurate and trustworthy as he once was. Ernie, who was the person behind the counter, always use to make jokes when I use to walk up to him for a stamp, and we just got along great together. It was rare when he ever made a mistake in the mailing system. I'm sorry I couldn't describe the factors that came into being placed in this review a little better. Maybe, as Ernie cross-trains people, the people who he trains could actually help bring that enlightened sense/spirituality to this small kiosk in the Mall once again, and therefore bring his sense of humor out to bring more people to use this booth once again. And what's best, packages that were mailed under him, never once ever got lost or delayed due to his actions, so something had gone well under his direction. He was always "on top of his game" here. Thanks Ernie and USPS crew for making my days and life a little brighter. You always have been a light in my eye, and will continue to shine brightly through the many years I have yet to use in store for the remainder of my life.

He is utterly respectful and professional while he goes out of his way to help. I don't have mail that goes to the Cochecton Post Office. However for reason I can't explain, they…read morereceived a piece of mail for me because the sender completely butchered my address. Someone from the Cochecton Post Office took the time to figure out at least what city to send this piece of mail to. Fortunately I have a P.O. box in this city. Therefore once it got to my city, someone at that post office recognized my name and put in it my P.O. box. So hats off to the good folks at the Cochecton Post Office for taking the time and effort that enabled me to receive this important piece of mail; A 1099 tax document.
