I had to mail a couple packages for my mom this afternoon, and went to the Mount Greenwood Post Office. I was very pleasantly surprised. There was one person ahead of me and one behind who had to pick things up; when the first one got to the counter, the manager waved the second over to the same counter station, explaining that that way, it's faster, as the counter person only had to make one trip. Fine with me. Then one of those people had a problem - he was picking something up for his sister, but that's not really allowed. So... here's the pleasant surprise part: the manager found someone in back to follow the guy home and deliver that piece of mail directly to his sister. That's not something you're going to see every day. Given the number of people who wander in there, I thought the service was pretty good. I still had to wait a bit in line, so I'm not giving 5 stars; overall, though, I thought it was a good visit. read more

Honestly the worst post office i've ever been to. The staff are a bunch of hoodrats with stank attitudes. I came in with respect and had to match their energy at the end. I wasn't greeted like the other customers, the worker was late for my appointment and didn't even apologize, she cussed at me in front of my kids and blamed me because she didn't do her job right. I would put her name but I didn't see a name tag. She tried to be friendly at the end but it was too late and ill be reporting her frog looking behind next! read more

Extremely rude staff. One of the lady's at the desk was on her phone before I got up to the counter, scanned my box, never said hi or how are you, and then said "pick your option of receipt " and then sat back down. The receipt printed on her computer and she was already sitting back down on her phone and doesn't even look up and says "you can get your receipt ". No bye or thank you. Just goes back to doing her thing on her phone and has me reach over the counter to grab my receipt. Not saying I'm not capable of grabbing my own receipt, but the way she said it and did it was extremely rude and apparently her phone was more important than her job. The entire staff needs to improve. I've had 2 separate packages that were strangely "lost" at this post office. If you have the nerve to call or, yikes, go in you will be met with the WORST customer service and bad attitude. Just had a horrible experience at the Mt. Greenwood Post Office (60655) with a clerk named Tony. I came in with 150 work-related packets that needed postage. Instead of offering help or a solution, Tony insisted on weighing each one individually, refused to process more than 10 at a time, and made me step aside whenever another customer came in. When another clerk suggested a quicker method (weigh one, use that postage for the rest), Tony got angry and told me, "I'm not waiting on you." I calmly explained I was just trying to get my work done, and she snapped back, "I have a job too." Eventually, she told me to get out of her line, threatened to call the police, and refused to help me further. I'm a disabled, elderly person, and I was carrying heavy materials. Instead of being offered assistance, I was stared down, dismissed, and treated with hostility. Thankfully, another clerk eventually helped, but no one deserves to be treated this way. This kind of behavior is unacceptable, especially in a public service role. USPS needs to do better. read more

Terrible treatment from the manager and her employee. I went in with my kids and fiancé to get my sons passport and I messed up on the application. I asked for a new one and it was just one side I needed and he told me "oh I can't help you, you messed it up" and then continued "you need a appointment to come back." I've checked online and it said "walk-ins welcome" so why do I need an appointment. Secondly, he said he was out of copies and it was 10:30 am. I asked if he could print anymore out and he said no firmly and asked me to come back with my 3 kids and fiancé over one mistake. May I add, the place was empty. Our regular mail person is great, but when he is on off chances are we will not get mail. Totally unacceptable! Visits to the post office is sad, there is no excuse for not having good service. Horrible service!! If you need passports done don't go there, I went there two times to get my kids passport and the lady working there refused both times to take care of us even with our appointment, she told us to go to another location which we did go and there they told us that they were always sending customers over to them and that they weren't supposed to do that. Staff in the post office is hardly ever helpful or efficient. I receive emails everyday showing the mail to expect for the day. Some articles never show up. Sevice stops for days at a time and no reason is ever given. If an Amazon package is coming via USPS, about 30% of them don't show up. I track some packages to this post office and they sit there a day or two (past the estimated ship time) until they try delivery. If tracking says "running late" that means it might not show up at all. I generally pay more for other delivery methods because USPS is so bad here. Update: 3/24 The carrier is now just dropping packages on the ground. On video. Too bad I cant rate lower than a 1 star. These people are the worst. Ive got something fragile coming soon, unfortunately through USPS. I wont keep my hopes up that it shows up in one piece. read more

100's of 1 star reviews on google and 100's of complaints about this Post Office and nothing is ever done about it. In typical Government agency fashion absolutely zero accountability. The employees at this location absolutely despise and hate all the residents of the neighborhood and make it known to you every time you visit the location. They are rude, sarcastic, condescending and totally disrespectful to every person who comes in especially caucasians. No matter how friendly and polite you are, it is not reciprocated. Now to a few experiences I have had: 1. Watched on camera as a carrier dropped half a bag of mail in my bushes, looked down at it and then left it there. It was half the blocks mail that I ended up delivering myself. 2. Ordered several pairs of dress pants for work, the carrier spilled an entire cup of black coffee into the box which was totally saturated and the items destroyed. The carrier scanned it and left it as though nothing happened. 3. Constantly deliver mail from the block west of me and I get their mail. 4. Have been the victim of road rage by enraged maniacs in postal vans driving excessive speeds and committing multiple violations in a residental neighborhood. 5. And now the latest event. I shipped an envelope containing important original documents certified mail to a City Official that were needed asap. Its been 5 days and the envelope has not left the facility. The total distance of its destination is a mile from the Post Office. How much more nonsense do these miserable human beings plan on inflicting on the neighborhood. They should be happy they have a good paying job with benefits and a pension during these times of inflation. No respect. It would be nice if a real leader took over this location and the Post Office. Maybe the solution is they need to wear Body Worn Cameras like hmm...certain other Government employees are required to and have all their interactions scrutinized. read more

The letter carrier marks our packages delivered when in fact they don't get delivered. That is basically stealing. This has happened on two occasions within the past 12 months. And unfortunately all you can do is report it to the Inspector General. Then you will get no response. I believe the general attitude at the USPS office in Mount Greenwood is that you can just file a claim with the vendor and you should get another package. That's a problem because the employees should not be able to get away with stealing packages. read more

I was expecting a package to be delivered 10/23, I waited all day only to receive a notification at 4:00pm that the delivery was scanned in as undeliverable and had to access to the front door. My front door is not blocked, there is no gate and it's a house. When I called the customer care line, the agent assured me they'd pull my package from being redelivered so that I could pick it up at this post office location first thing in the morning. I needed this package before Noon today. When I got to this location, Darlene was unhelpful and rude, rolling her eyes and told me "we don't do that here" She told me the package wasn't there and the carrier will deliver it today, sometime before 6:00. The lady been either throws our mail or refuse to deliver because we have a bird nest above the door where the lamp is and there was a mommy bird and some babies in there so we refuse to take it down now she says we have to pick up our mail if we don't want it thrown at our door. This is the worst post office in the history of post offices. Kevin Costner in "The Postman" did a better job of delivering mail and with better customer service. Plus he was operating in some sort of post Apocalyptic world and constantly getting attacked on his route. The staff here operates at two speeds: slow and stop. The competence level is: basic and none. The friendliness level: below average and hateful. If there was any justice in this world every person working here would be fired and not eligible for unemployment. The average wait time here is about 15 minutes. You can be the first person in line and you are guaranteed to wait. Minor things such as picking up a package are huge ordeals for the slugs that work here. Even though the card left by the carrier indicates that the package is here they rarely locate it. In the rare event that it is located they put you through quite the process to claim it. I think they want a DNA swab to go with your identification for now on. I have been coming here for 30 years because the options are limited. The Evergreen Park location used to be efficient but lately it's resembling this place. The Worth location is better but the employees are not much faster. I haven't got mail in 5 days I see the mailman and they pick and choose what house to deliver to! I have important mail and packages... I see the next street over Palos heights gets mail everyday. This isn't covid it's stop mail in ballots. I have cameras I can show they deliver to certain houses. I have scanned in mail since Thursday of last week and haven't got anything! I was appalled at the, extreme ignorance the minute you walked in the door. A gentleman came from the back talking about wow they must think we are entitled or some thing because we didn't bring copies of a birth certificate and drivers license so we'd ask them if this is some thing that they could help us with by making copies I was even getting ready to pay for them to make us two copies. She had a printer right by her leg. You thought like I was asking them for $1 million she says I could go across the street and that's was not a service we provide while she proceeded to roll her eyes and give me a dirty look. They made it a point to embarrass us.. there were several of us that walked in at 9 AM at the same time. There is one black lady at the back of the line while we all stood in line they called her first. How do you think that made us feel???? I treat everyone with the same respect, but obviously we were not treated with respect at all whatsoever. When we first got there which was a little before 9 o'clock, we walked in both doors were open. The lady proceeded to ask how we got in and we said the doors were open and she said oh they must've not locked the doors last night. What?!? All of them just ignorant comments throughout our entire visit and this hasn't been the first time if it was not convenient in close to the house I would've gone somewhere else, so I will definitely be going to a different post office in the future, I'm so sick to my stomach over the way we were treated. I would've given this location 4 stars due to the helpful person I had when it came to doing my passport stuff-BUT it's like a package black hole. Given this whole city has POS mail service, my package can have a delivery date of a Wednesday and still not even have a new delivery date on Friday night. We pay good money to have stuff shipped to us, and in this case if I hadn't thought ahead when it came to ordering a dress for a wedding- I would've had NOTHING to wear on the actual date. I've had frustrating experiences here, during the holidays while most of the staff is apparently partying in the back, but nothing compares to yesterday. I had to mail several important documents, and the recipient told me to make sure to send them registered, signature required. I went to the PO in the middle of the afternoon. Two clerks, only one other customer. The clerk who was "open" was too busy texting to make eye contact with me, and the other clerk finally said, "She's open, go ahead." Then the clerk looked up at me, kind of annoyed, and said, "Yes?" I explained what I needed and she gave me a card to fill out. I accidentally filled out the recipient's address in the SECONDARY address box, which totally freaked out the clerk. She hit the ceiling: "This is WRONG!" she screamed at me. "You filled this out WRONG. It's WRONG. " She hollered this about eight times. The other clerk was glancing over, and another customer who came in was looking uncomfortable. "Mmm-mm," the clerk continued to scold, "this is WRONG." I should have said, "I apologize for getting you so riled up," but I was speechless. She gave me another card after throwing mine in the trash. I said, "Was the rest of the card filled out correctly?" "It don't matter, that address was filled out WRONG." I insisted on having her check the first card again, which forced her to fish it out of the garbage. I don't know what provoked this ignorant example of humanity to go on such a rant, but she evidently doesn't understand the term "customer service." I reported her to the post office later that evening. I didn't see any point in talking to her supervisor, because that's a toxic PO and it would have done no good. Maybe there's a customer service SWAT team that will have better luck. I work with the public, too, and if I treated a customer the way she treated me, I would be fired on the spot. Not to mention, she continued to text--or play Angry Birds or whatever--DURING the transaction. I would be fired for that, too, and I don't work for a mean company, just one that values common courtesy and professionalism. I hope this woman gets fired so the PO can hire someone who really wants the job. read more

I wish I could give zero stars. I have been waiting 2 weeks for an amazon prime (2 day) package. The post office updates on it almost everyday with different lies like no spot for it, signature required, mailbox full. I have a camera in front of my house and never at any time was there a mail delivery or attempt by the mailman to leave a package. They're complete liars. God forbid the weather isn't perfect because in that case you won't ever see a piece of mail. If I have to go to work in bad weather a mailman can walk and put envelopes into a slot on someone's porch. It's not that complicated! The people who work here also act as if they loathe their job. They are never friendly (except for one woman) and always have smug looks on their faces.
