Make sure you pay for your items before you use it. Well if there isn't 20 people on line

[471] Gosh... Every.single.time I visit this Chestnut street location the line is out the door. Today when I arrived during my lunch hour they only had one staff working and then another one finally came. Looks like the counter can accommodate 3 so not sure why they don't have a third person. If you want an envelope or packing make note of the sign "buy before you use".. .yeah like I am going to wait on a 20 person line twice. I only come here when I'm desperate. :(

Our tax dollars at work. Lisa was right; you do have to stand in line here, just to get stamps! The hotel I was staying at ran out of stamps, so I went here to buy them. I was not impressed of course. They do not have vending machines! If you need to mail something and need to fill out one of those delivery confirmation slip, you better be prepared. They will tell you to go back to the line if it's not filled out. They have a big sign that states that all forms have to be filled before approaching the counter. However, they got rid of all the pens! Needless to say, I was less than amused.

What else can be said that hasn't already? The post office has been struggling forever and in the…read morecity its always worse than you figure. Yes, the lines are definitely long, not because its the city, because its chronically understaffed. Speaking of staff, it seems who they have working there are textbook definition of resigned. Otherwise its USPO- the prices and service are what you would expect any other location. I try to avoid this specific spot but due to proximity, having been around the area forever, I'm always stuck stopping by and burning my time.

Honestly I have had several terrible experiences at this post office (mostly with one specific…read morewindow clerk who I have now witnessed behaving rudely to several other unsuspecting customers as well) but it is the closest one to my workplace so I just brave it. The lines can be long at certain times of day which I just accept now, but that particular employee always says a package cannot be sent out if more than a day from the date mentioned on the shipping label. The issue is if you sell on eBay, Poshmark, Mercari, and other sites, the shipping labels are often created for you when someone purchases an item, so you have minimal control over what date shows up on the label - you are allowed several days to ship out the item per policy on those sites. I have sent out 1,000+ packages over the past few years via several different post offices in NJ and now here in Philly and NEVER heard this until I arrived at this particular USPS. The other post offices in the area have never mentioned this policy either. Also saw this employee yelling at a lady who was visiting from Europe since she was looking at the gift card display which was placed past the "wait here" line - the lady apologized, mentioning she was not from the states and didn't realize the rules. This employee then went on to sarcastically and patronizingly ask her "what, you don't know what a gift card is? You don't have those in your country?" The look on that poor lady's face - all she wanted to do was mail something out. Anyway, awful experience here unfortunately. The one at 720 Arch St has been much more pleasant and is open slightly later too! The one in the subway station by city hall is rarely open on time based on their stated business hours and often closed early so it's hit or miss.

This has to be the absolute worst Post Office I've ever been to. The sign says they open at 8:00am…read moreMon-Fri. Got there at 8:02am on a Wednesday, doors weren't open. I waited a few minutes to see if any workers would open the store. At 8:08am, I saw a women opening the doors while holding a conversation on her phone. There was one man in front of me in line. The way she talk to him in such a condescending, rude manner. I was in disbelief. The level of customer service is set in hell. Not to mention that she was still talking on the phone throughout my entire transaction as well. Then I'm listening to her conversation as she's complaining about the previous customer in front of me to the person on the phone. I will never go back there again and I don't recommend anyone else do either. If I could give a 0 star rating I would but this platform won't let me.

She sat there, loud and rude, chit chatting with her male coworker and managed to mess up both of my transactions. First she gave me a money order for the wrong amount until I checked the screen. Then she was running her mouth so much, she failed to deduct the postage I had affixed to the envelope being sent certified, so she had to redo everything. She is by far one of the worst postal employees I've encountered. The only saving grace is that this location is hella convenient.
