Hey, it's the USPS Post Office, so you can't really expect too much. I come here to mail my clients, get stamps, etc... The lines move Ok. Usually about a 5-10 month wait, but it's just an opportunity to exercise a bit of patience. Staff is cool & helpful.

It's not busy, therefore there's no reason to feel overwhelmed, so what is the explanation for rude customer service.

Consistently rude customer service. Every time I go to the Arcadia post office, I notice that not just myself, but all customers are treated like we are at a public city office. The third class customer service is unacceptable. Unfortunately, I'm married to this post office because this is where my PO Box of 8 years is located. bummer

Apparently 2:35pm is a REALLY good time to hit the #postoffice. Just #hangingout.

Don't waste your time here. Go to a different post office. Everyone is rude and obnoxious and unwilling to help.

The good news was the line was short when I entered, though it was pretty long when I left (not very long after). I had come in to check on an important package the post office seemed to have totally lost, and the lady I talked to said she could see what I was seeing online, just with a little more detail. Unfortunately, she also stressed there was absolutely nothing she could do to help me with my parcel, which hasn't even left the state and it's been several days. I paid $58 for priority express and no one has any clue where my package even is right now. I know it's not her fault, and she did keep her tone even and professional, but she also said I was wasting both of our time the longer I talked to her, since she couldn't help me at all. I an now wondering why she didn't offer to help me file a claim for the missing mail... well, in any case, I'll try to avoid going back to this post office if I can help it.

There's a little gas station that's closer to me, but the USPS drop off inside didn't have the small priority boxes. This is a pretty large post office. There are tons of P.O. boxes. They did have self-service machine where you can handle most transactions yourself, but I was disappointed that the send package option was not currently working. That's pretty much the only reason I dropped a star. Rich seemed to be the only employee working the counter at the time, but he was quick and got us out in no time. There were 5 of us in line. When it was my turn, he asked the usual questions about the box I was mailing (any liquids perishables, etc.) and then asked if I wanted to purchase a book of stamps. I politely declined but was curious to know how much a single stamp is nowadays (I haven't sent snail mail in a loooooong time)!! He said the current rate is $.78 per stamp and that there's talk about the price hiking up to ninety-something cents in the future. Yikes!!! I remember when they were a quarter each!! My, how times have changed... Anyway, I'd definitely return to this Scottsdale location. There's a good size parking lot outside although I can imagine it getting packed during the holidays. 4 solid stars!

I walked in today and found myself behind at least a dozen humans who all had that same "I swear this will be quick" look on their face. And yet? The staff up front.. same guys, every time... were absolute zen masters holding the line together with patience, courtesy, and a level of customer-service stamina I honestly think deserves a medal or at least a parade. This place moved to its current location ages ago (I still call it "the new one," don't judge me), but the energy has stayed the same: friendly, calm, efficient, and somehow unbothered by the fact that we all show up with the most chaotic mail situations imaginable. I walked in with a stack of envelopes, addressed to everyone..., and the gentleman helping me (I ought to know his name by now) didn't so much as double blink. Different recipients, same address? Weird postage situations? Random questions? Not a single sign of irritation. Not even the micro-eye-twitch. Nothing. Professionals. I've had to call, I've had to come in for issues, I've even had the occasional "address forwarding plot twist," but these folks always handle everything with kindness and actual problem-solving skills. Competitors who? I trust my postal guys. Always have. This isn't my assigned post office anymore, but guess what? I'm still loyal. Because when you find a place that treats you right, listens, holds space for your mailing disasters, and sends your chaos into the world with a smile.... you keep coming back. Five stars. Ten if Yelp would let me.

To boot, it wasn't the most expensive option. The store is clearly marked and meets COVID standards. I will review both at the same time along with the surrounding area. First, U.S. Post Office itself also known as the "Federal Building-U.S. Post Office" was built in the 1930s and was intentionally designed in the Spanish Colonial Revival style. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. I find all of the staff who have helped me at the post office portion of the building on the first floor have been very friendly and helpful though there is often a queue during the day. The line usually goes fast, and the post office area is kept rather clean. When Arizona State University opened the Downtown Phoenix Campus in 2006, ASU took over the upper floor, basement level, and part of the first floor. ASU has the Student Center @ the Post Office on the first floor and then additional offices and conference rooms on all three levels. I have spent a lot of time on the upper floor where the Dean of Students office is as well as offices for Counseling Services, Student Connection & Community, Student Accessibility & Inclusive Learning Services, TRIO programs, ASU Police, Human Resources, and Career Services. On the first floor is the Student Center @ the Post Office (including the Undergraduate Student Government offices for and Changemaker Central) along with Facilities Management. On the basement is a space for ASU clubs and organizations, the Program & Activities Board offices, classrooms, and additional ASU academic services and offices. While the building is open from 8 AM to 9 PM on weekdays when classes are in session and 8 AM to 5 PM during breaks including the Summer. ASU offices are closed during weekends and university holidays. The only negative to the U.S. Post Office building is the challenge with security as there seem to have been a number of situations nearby right outside the north side of the building or even in the Civic Space Park on the south side of the building. Otherwise, the safety within the building is just fine, and the students, faculty, and staff at ASU still frequent the building. With a long history already between the post office itself and now ASU being there, I look forward to seeing what comes up next in the historic building!

One of the employees actually came out into the waiting area and queried those in line personally about whether they were merely picking up or dropping off a package that already had postage, instructing them to report to the far left window. At the far right was a newer employee who is extremely tall and muscular and friendly. As each customer left his window, he apologized for the wait, as there was a long line. But he works very fast, so the wait is not because of him. The female at the far left pickup window was a little strange. She had a big head bandana and crazy eyes. She had no one at her window and wasn't doing anything, nor was she announcing to newly arrived customers that if they only had a pickup or drop off they could come to her window -- other employees seemed to take on that "heavy mantle" FOR her. She only gave confrontational stares to customers in line, like she wanted to jump over the counter and fight with them for looking at her (probably wondering what her job was). The other employees were working a little slower, but not as slow as PAST longtime employees used to (maybe they finally retired). There used to be a middle aged lady with short spiky hair that worked so slow it was almost impossible to tell if she was moving. Just watching her made me feel like I was going into a coma. Maybe she is finally gone. SHE is the one who always SHOULD have apologized for the wait... Dare I say things are improving slightly over there. At least they had 4 active windows going. I'm curious as to what accounts for their sudden new motivation to actually do the jobs for which they are being handsomely paid... It is in a convenient location with good parking access IF you are going northbound on 7th Avenue. Otherwise you are pretty much SOL.
