I had a simple…read moretransaction which was to get a refund on an USPS money order which I had purchased and was still in possession of. The retail counter clerk at the Maywood, IL USPS was not very helpful or customer service oriented. The clerk replied that I needed the original paper receipt for the purchase of the money order to get a refund. I expressed that I had never been requested to provide the receipt before to get a refund for an USPS money order before that I had purchased and was in possession of. Like a parrot, the clerk just repeated the same answer. At this point, I just left as it was fruitless. I did not have the patience to go the route of asking to speaking to her manager, even though, I knew what the clerk had told me was "garbage". Needless to say, I was able to complete the refund of the money order at a USPS in Wheaton, IL without any trouble and a smile. The Wheaton USPS simply asked for my identification and validated the money order through their computers. It sad that USPS has deteriorated to a point of where there is no uniformity and lack of consistency across locations. It is apparent that you have to go to certain USPS locations to receive quality service and a positive outcome.

After a few loops through the area, I eventually found a parking spot along N Kenilworth Ave right outside of the entrance. During my loops, I was astonished to see the beauty of downtown Oak Park which I have never seen before. I will have to visit the area one of these days to go food hopping, or maybe even pick out a run route that would take me through it on foot. Now as for parking, it is 1-hour parking, 9 AM - 5 PM Monday - Saturday. Many of the visitors I see try to secure those parking spots along N Kenilworth Ave because you will have to pay if you choose to park along Lake St, which is pay by the plate. An adorable, classy looking building is this post office not only on the outside, but inside as well. I must say that this post office was my life saver due to its closing time on the weekend which will surely result in future visits for me. During my visit, there was absolutely no line of customers inside which resulted in an in-and-out visit (no pun intended), tehehe. As someone who visits post office locations regularly whether it be for Poshmark or eBay shipments, the clerk presented a friendly vibe during our brief encounter at the counter. I was on my way in minutes after she weighed and scanned my package, as well as presented me with mailing stamps for my postcards. I am terrible at doing the surveys on the receipts pertaining to my visits at post offices, but rest assured I always share a review based on my experiences. I had a simple transaction which was to get a refund on an USPS money order which I had purchased. I had the original money order in hand. The retail counter clerks (a young male & older female) were not very customer service oriented. The young male clerk was extremely unprofessional and should not be in a customer facing position. As I saw the male clerk interact with some customers before me, I was hoping I would not draw him as it seemed he had an attitude. As luck would have it, I did. I explained to him what was needed. He responded he had no cash, his co-worker may but you have to go back in line & wait to ask her. I complied and waited my turn for the female clerk. When my turn arrived, the female clerk seemed to be "like a deer in headlights" regarding the request. She eventually responded that she had no cash for a refund since it was Monday morning and to come back at 3pm as she might have cash by that time. I responded to her that this was ridiculous that the USPS was so ill-prepared to conduct business on a normal weekday as I walked off. At this point, the young male clerk, who was now helping someone else, decided to reinsert himself into the issue as he made some "smart-aleck"/ snide responses to my comment. To avoid sinking down to his level of ignorance, I calmed myself to continue to walk away. As I was walking out, another customer that was also at the retail counter, who observed the clerks behavior, commented to me that it was uncalled for. Needless to say, I was able to complete the refund of the money order at a USPS in Wheaton, IL without any trouble and a smile. Anyone reading this review will be able to "read between the lines" regarding the difference of experience b/t the USPS locations.

NOW, both of those have been removed and the only outside box is next to the front doors and requires that you get OUT of your car, for example if raining or extremely cold, and drop it in the box. As a Poshmark Ambassador, I always strive to ship my items within at least two days which keeps my shipping status at 1.3 average days. This post office was my life saver due to its 5:00 PM closing time on a Friday, and it being along my route towards Dwight D. Eisenhower Expressway. I am also grateful that it is near my job too because I did not want to have to place my package inside of a blue collection box. During my visit, there were absolutely no customers inside. Walking up to the counter, I joked with the clerk that it appeared as if they were closed which struck up a brief conversation. The clerk mentioned that it was likely due to the recent construction. As someone who visits post offices regularly whether it be for Poshmark or eBay shipments, the postal clerk presented one of the friendliest vibes during our brief encounter. We came in to send letters by certified mail, and she could not have been less helpful. And the way she spoke to me was completely uncalled for. I asked why I was getting so much (bad) attitude from her and she snapped that she wasn't giving me attitude. I'd never sent mail certified, and she barely pointed me in the right direction to pick up the certified mail cards. I didn't realize I didn't have to fill out anything, and when I asked about that she she told me, "I just said you don't have to fill anything out." She was more interested in her hair extensions than she was in helping people. She barely spoke loud enough to hear, and she snapped and was very curt. In the middle of her putting the individual stickers on the letters, the "face emoji's" came up on the screen. She didn't leave the screen up long enough for me to press the "dissatisfied" emoji, as she shut it down right away. I'm so disappointed after my family being in the community since the early 1960s. Her customer service definitely left much to to be desired. Perhaps a training session? Perhaps just dismissing her! I'm giving 2 stars only because she did say (to my mother), "have a nice day" as I'm sure she wouldn't have said anything more directly to me. And she did put all the stickers on the certified envelopes. As another review said, "(this) worker(s) treats customers like (she's) doing us a favor. Disrespectful and terrible.
