I'm so glad I mostly buy my postage on line now, as I have had several bad experiences at this post office. Once I waited in line while the single worker searched for a package for a gentleman without a slip for 15 minutes. Instead of calling for help she kept looking. Never found anything, especially in the envelope stack, while the gentleman told her repeatedly it was a large package. That said, I get the "excellent service one customer at a time" creed, but browsing for pretty stamps when there's a line out door grades an "F" in efficiency. I'd much prefer to use the automated machine, but it's often out of service on the weekends. How do you review a dinosaur so close to extinction? It seems kind of unfair. I think we all are quite well aware of the USPS' woes. Email is quick and free. Stamps are getting kind of pricey. The need to actually send physical things back and forth is waning. And the segment of the population that hasn't technologically caught up yet... well... they're the ones you'd never want to have to deal with as a Postal Clerk. Seriously, where do the people in line at the post office come from? I count maybe 3 or 4 normies out of 20+. The rest? Did someone upturn a rock nearby? Or do I just exist in my own Portlandia bubble of people with smartphones, or at least some basic social skills? I'm not at all trying to sound elitist, but there are two things that remind me that my circle is small and doesn't represent the rest of America - trips to the Post Office and trips to Wal Mart. Especially the Post Office out past 205, which is the reason I came to this one recently. I stopped by the 205 P.O. and refused to spend the 20-30 minutes behind grumpy (and a few stinky) people with more-complex-than-they-should-be postal problems and no love/respect for the clerks attempting to help them. All I needed was to send a passport with some renewal forms - one of the few things that can't be done electronically. This Post Office, when I visited on a Tuesday afternoon, had a sum total of two people in line in front of me. Score! The clerks were on top of their game, and plenty friendly. They had sufficient stocks of Priority Mail envelopes out (something sorely missing at the 205 location on the regular). And I was able to get my priority mail sent off with no hitches within 5 minutes. BAM! So while this place has shown some hardcore line action on other visits, it was good to me on my last stop. And having the correct envelopes out and available so I don't have to either wait in line or cut the line just to get my priority box? Priceless. Well, this dinosaur ain't dead yet, and it may be my new go-to spot since the 205 location drives me insane. read more

Like most post offices the lines suck but I was so happy to see the self service postage machine. The only bad part was I had already wrote the address on my package and then found that the label that printed needed me to write it again. They have no pens in the post office; everyone must steal them. I went up to a closed counter to use the pen up there. I was getting some dirty looks like I was cutting in line but just needed to use the pen. All turned out okay and got the package sent. They do have a nice sized parking lot. Still lots of parking even with the line inside. read more

This location has actually improved in the past 12 months, hence TWO stars, they have gotten some fresh blood in there, and they seem to have sped things up a bit. Key phrase there is "a bit". This post office is horrible!!! The first thing that happened was I paid for the shipping label online and dropped my 2 packages in the mail chute inside at around 11:30am. It took more than 24 hours for the tracking number to register that I had dropped it off. In fact, it said that the packages had been scanned at 10:30pm! I know mail collection times are every couple hours, not sure why it took so long to get my packages scanned and on their way. Second thing that happened was that I foolishly decided to drop another pre-paid package off in the mail chute. After 12 hours, the tracking did not say that the package had been accepted, but instead said "Delivered"! Ahhh!! Third thing that happened was that my mom was using the automated mating in the lobby and accidentally put in the wrong zip code. The postage printed out, and she went up to the desk to see what they could do. The guy at the desk simply blacked out the zip code and wrote the correct zip code on the postage. Lo and behold, the tracking shows that the day that the package was due to be delivered, it couldn't, saying "Undeliverable as addressed". The employees at the post office are apparently incompetent and incapable of doing their jobs! Beware if you do decide to use this post office! read more

Something's happened to the mail lately. I don't know if it's just in the Roseway neighborhood or what. But ALL MAIL now takes an extra day. Whether I mail something to my accountant a few blocks away or await Netflix, it's never next day anymore. I called Netflix and they said they haven't changed their distribution process but they've received a lot of complaints about delayed mail. They said they're putting pressure on USPS and we should all let them know if our mail is slow. Today after months of horrible customer service at this location I decided out of the fear of being uncomfortable again to choose the UPS store. There is a parody of an old man that works here (he has a moustache) and he is so amazingly rude every time we go! No matter what, you can guarantee that he will be in a bad mood. They (perhaps because of cuts) never have enough staff to help the constant line of people. It is too bad this is where American Postal services have gone! Our mail man is so nice and there is a lady that works here, and maybe other staff as well that are sweet and not as mean as the old guy. It just is so interesting to me that you work in costumer service when you obvioulsy HATE people. I work in the same field and I don't love all days, it is hard to please people, but I have after 6 years realized that I want a different line of work, so I am going back to school. Perhaps this man should as well and stop pestering people just wanting to mail stuff, with his bad attitude! If you have to go here, avoid him at all cost. He will not smile, so do not even try! Every time I come I think it's going to be different, but it's EXACTLY the same. One slow clerk with 10 people waiting in line. I should know better and just go to the UPS store or Mailboxes Etc., but instead I wait, and it takes 45min to mail a simple package. No wonder USPS is failing. Worst customer experience ever. Grrr, one is the lowest I can enter. Please, give them .25 of a star! I am no big fan of rating ANYWHERE really low, and I also often try to give a place multiple chances to see if the service improves. But at this particular post office location, I feel like I'm clawing out of a black hole. We moved into the rental home at the beginning of the year. At some point in late Feb, I answered the door when the mail lady had a box. (Our mail goes in a slot low on the front door. She thinks that she has to put her fingers in the slot and that they will bite her.) The mail lady requested that we put a baby gate or something around the front of the door to keep my dogs back. That would block access from room to room inside and I said that this wouldn't be a viable option. Starting in March, we noticed we were not always getting our mail. It seemed odd, but we were working so many hours that we didn't spend time figuring out what was going on. Around late April I got fed up when we started only getting mail once a week and my family mentioned that they were getting mail returned. EBay purchases that I had paid for were getting returned, a check for our return deposit from the former landlord, bills, etc were not showing up at my house. My mom started saving them so that we could know the reasons: dogs on premises, no forwarding address, mail undeliverable... there were at least 6 different notes. Long story short: two people stopping by and calling on a weekly basis. We continued to receive mail on her days off, but that was it. We would get a return call one in 5 tries, and nada happened in person. I followed up on a suggestion from a former mail carrier that I spoke to one time down there and put a box on the front stoop that said mail... she wouldn't even need to bend down or get within 3 feet of the front door. (Because I don't think I should have to BUY and install a mail box on the front post.) That box was out there for 3 months, and only got used -- maybe -- 3 times. Beginning of this month, a supervisor with more status was there when hubby went in. He said he would do the route with her to verify that our dogs weren't loose in the yard or had any access to her, etc. Lo and behold, we got mail for about 4 days. Then it stopped again. In all this time, we never got paperwork or any information from them about how to fix the problem, much less what the official problem WAS! Until last week when a sub-supervisor said it was above his paygrade to explain, but that there were more issues than our dogs and we would only get mail if we forwarded it or paid for a PO box. I don't have family here, and shouldn't have to PAY to receive mail. But on Friday we got mail on the mail lady's off day again. And then Monday she was on her route with an additional person... and we got mail yesterday and today. When you post how excited you are to have received MAIL, and you've lost money to late fees, time to tracking down where you mail disapeared to, and your friends/family have lost money re-sending you cards, it is a crazy situation. NO ONE should have this unless they are producing meth in the same room that their mail delivers to, honestly. I will update this if my mail now starts to deliver as it should. If it goes back to the 'norm' of mail once a week, well... then this is all she wrote! read more

UPS delivered a package to this post office, which will accept UPS and FedEx packages for PO Boxes. There was ONE single package in that delivery (mine), and it was signed for by a USPS employee. That was the last anyone has seen of it. No note, nothing in my box. Worst part is that the people at this post office don't seem to care at all. Update: The package eventually showed up six months later. An employee was stealing mail, and was caught when the rent on his storage united wasn't paid. They opened it and it was full of stolen packages. Even made the news. read more

I am standing in line now, so that means I'll have plenty of time to write a review. I received a pink slip at my door yesterday, so I went online and followed the instructions to have the post office hold the certified letter and I would come pick it up. I've now been standing at the window waiting for someone to find the letter I requested to have held. No one can find it. It's been 43 minutes. This is one of the billion reasons everyone despises the post office. It is a dying business, and no wonder. I have not one time found a competent person at this post office. Not one time. And I'm a fair, compassionate person. read more

I got out of the car with my box and was looking around as an employee was walking up ( I think her name was Lisa) and she offered to take my package in for me. This was great as it saved me time and I had never been to this post office before so I wasn't sure exactly where to go. i printed my own expedited postage at the USPS website (dec. 15 2013), placed it on official packaging i got from this post office and placed it in the postal chute on premises at rose park. i paid for 3 day shipping and ended up having to cancel the checks and have them re issued. the original package showed up at my bank 12 days from the day i dropped it in the chute myself. they can't get it right even when i do the work for them!!!!! read more
